  1. Progress; Thanks for taking a look. Dan
  2. A little more progress. Worked a bit to get the resin CMK cockpit to sit in the fuselage properly. Had to use a styrene spar and pin to hold it in position. I didn't use the sets photoetched side panels but made styrene replacements for them. I'm really impressed with the detail on the resin cockpit. I hope I can do it justice once the paint goes on. Here is where it's at right now. Holmes--Thank you for your kind comments.
  3. I'm just having a bit of fun. Something simple to practice on and the Hasegawa Komet seemed to fit the bill nicely. The only aftermarket bits needed were a CMK resin cockpit and Eagle Strike decals. So far I've assembled the fuselage and wings and scribed in some details. Assembled the dolly and wheels, added a few bits from styrene and modified the mountings so that it can be fitted after the fuselage is joined and painted. Begun work on assembling the beautiful CMK resin cockpit. Hopefully have this kit in the paintshop by next weekend and finished in a couple of weeks. Which is
  4. Bit more progress. Worked a fair bit on the dorsal engine opening. Lots of sanding still to go but the shape is there. Started work on the T-tail. Bullet fairing still kind of rough but getting closer to what I have in mind. I've started redoing the engine pods and pylons, more pics when I get them done. Ryan- Thank you for the encouragement. I'm glad you like her. kstarter94, Lucien Harpress and yardbird78-- Thanks! Dan
  5. Thank you for sharing your stunning and inspirational craftsmanship. Your painting skills are quite exceptional and really bring your subjects to life. Everything looks used but not abused, subtle weathering isn't easy to make look right. Thanks for the information regarding the Begemot stencils. They are a company I had not hear of before. I have a 1/32 Trumpeter Mig-29 in the to do pile and I will be eagerly awaiting their production. Keep up the fine work and enjoy the double build. Dan
  6. Just wanted to share my first scratch build. I love this crazy 50's style bird. I'm using some free flight balsa plans as a starting point and bashing away as I go. At times it's a bit more like blacksmithing than modeling. A start Bit more Engine pod (wrong shape, need to re make them) Starting to look like something Still rough as but getting there. It's been a steep learning curve of doing and then redoing again. I'm forging ahead but in the back of my mind I can see things that really should be done better but would mean scraping and starting over. Maybe next time..
