  1. Yes its lead wire Mike. If I remember correctly it was a pain to do and I'm not entirely happy with it. Think it may get remade at a later date....
  2. That's the plan! It's gonna cost a fortune!
  3. Thanks for looking! This build is on hold for the time being, the kit got the better of me! Hopefully start work on her again in the new year
  4. look nice and accurate, to my eyes anyway. fingers crossed for 1/35.
  5. Started detailing the tower. Bit of a late starter but Ive never really used extra thin cement up until this build and I have to say its great stuff. Really quick drying and no mess, makes doing those fiddly bits so much easier(im using gunze mr.cement). Unfortunately i knocked it over losing 90% of the contents yesterday, curse my giant hands :bandhead2:/> . Ive ordered some more but its gonna take 2 weeks to get to me so builds gonna be slow for a while. Just when i was on a roll....
  6. Thanks! Means a lot coming from a master such as yourself! Yes im going to light it up, its got to be done really hasn't it? Just ordered x20 0.25mm drill bits for the fibres, im guessing i'll be breaking a few during this build Thanks for the tip on 1/700 kits i'll see if I can get any bargins from ebay
  7. Think im gonna have to attempting casting at some point during this build due to so many identical parts that need duplicating. Bigger parts however will stay as 'one off's'.
  8. Not a member but will join up soon. Looks a great website. Had a quick peek and am impressed with your mpc SD build! Hell of a lot of work on that beast! Also REALLY love your cad designs, that is some skill you have.
  9. Looking good so far. An unusual subject (to me at least) but i love the ship design. Great idea hiding the fibre in the fin
  10. Nice, I dig the chipping as im a fan of that exaggerated look :). whats happening with your mi-24 build cant seem to see it anywhere?
  11. Hi chaps Ive been inspired by a few builds of star destroyers I've seen recently. They look pretty awesome lit up and on display (check madhatters out http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=252833&st=0&p=2400269&hl=venator&fromsearch=1entry2400269 ) so decided to have a go at building one for the shelf. As it stands at the moment its around 500mm x 350mm! Most of the details are going to be made from plastic stock because at this scale, kit bashing is not really an option like on the studio model. Ive started by taking measurements from drawings/plans i
  12. Just Awesome. Anymore sci-fi, fibre optic builds on your build schedule?
  13. I think the aires fit issues are due to more than just the spar, which I had to remove in my build. All the spar would do is support the cockpit but I chose to make a small plastic stock 'step' instead. Fortunately the wings were quite easy to align without the spar. One of the main problems (one of many) I had was aligning the Aires IP, It just wouldn't fit and as a result I had to cut off around 1mm from the bottom of the IP.
  14. thanks joel! yes its proven to be quite a tough build, probably go for a hasegawa next time
  15. looking great so far, love the scheme
  16. Ok back at it again. Had a bit of a mishap and had to strip and repaint EVERYTHING :bandhead2:/> . So ive repainted and started with the weathering, using oils, clear coat more oils, clear coat and abit more airbrush. Figured out that my painting style/technique is abit over complicated and at this stage I can easily screw things up by over/under doing stuff so fingers crossed. I'll have to try something new on the next build. Also I got the brassin landing gear set today. First impressions, certainly better than the kit offering and will save a lot of time but still has a
  17. thanks! R.e the prop, I first base coated with alclad aluminium then over sprayed with Tamiya. The chipping was achieved by using a pin and scratching the paint off.
  18. Agree that the Brassin set is way to expensive, the price put me off for sure but ive read that its a good fit in comparison to aires and that could've saved me a lot of messing around. Also im not to keen on eduards use of pre-painted IP's, they never look to good IMO.
  19. Hi Tom. To get my Aires to fit I had to sand the sidewalls to almost wafer-thin thickness. A very delicate and time consuming process! Also I had to put the walls in hot water and carefully bend them to fit the main resin tub. I made the mistake of painting BEFORE I sanded it and subsequently had to strip and repaint it due to it becoming damaged in the sanding process. Then i had to sand both fuselage walls as well and dry fit everything countless times. Also be careful when fitting the instrument panel. It clearly doesn't fit as per Aires's instructions and needs a lot of fiddling abou
  20. Painting started. First time using Montex masks and have to say they go down really well Access panel scribed (not present on revel kit) Spinner (May re-do this as not entirely happy with it) Thanks for looking :salute:/>

    1/32 Bf109G-14

Thanks Boris! I think the rivets look a little 'loud' on these pics but they will look much more subtle under paint
  23. So I decided to build the Revell Bf109G-6 with all the Alley cat resin sets. I figured this would be quite a straight forward and quick build that I could complete in my summer break from University....how wrong I was! I wont go into to much detail about the kits fit issues as I think its been said numerous times before on other folks builds. However it has to be said that I think many of the problems I had were due to my mediocre modelling skills! The Alley cat set is beautiful and is a 'must have' set for this kit but I may not bother using aires's cockpits again due to fit issues (w
