    1/32 Bf109G-14

Thanks John, I had your build in mind when I decided not to detail the issues I had! Pretty much every issue you encountered I had to! And yes will repost in 'in progress'. Zak

    1/32 Bf109G-14

So I decided to build the Revell Bf109G-6 with all the Alley cat resin sets. I figured this would be quite a straight forward and quick build that I could complete in my summer break from University....how wrong I was! I wont go into to much detail about the kits fit issues as I think its been said numerous times before on other folks builds. However it has to be said that I think many of the problems I had were due to my mediocre modelling skills! The Alley cat set is beautiful and is a 'must have' set for this kit but I may not bother using aires's cockpits again due to fit issues (w
  3. Thanks Boris and yes you are right I was thinking of the revell G-6 model! Don't know what id do without the advice from people on this forum, saved me a lot of hassle!
  4. Thank you so much for pointing this out. I FINALLY see the hump and the other differences! Its not so easy to see the differences in the drawings that I have. Never realised how varied bf 109s could be and how potentially complicated modelling one could be!!
  5. Thanks for your comments guys. After doing abit more reading + comparing the revell kit to images ive found, I really think its quite possible to convert into a G-10 (seems quite straight forward to) so that's what im gonna do (well TRY). Interestingly the new barracuda decal sheet (Barracuda Studios BC32145) states that the revell kit can be made into a G-10...
  6. Woah that is a comprehensive (and quite scary) list of tweaks! Great link thank you, think it will come in handy
  7. Just wondering what 'bulge' you are referring to? Do you mean this? (red circle) First image is G-10, second is G-6 Other than this bulge, the slightly smaller radiator and a few other details I cant really see much difference between a G-6 and G-10 from the drawings I have. (I really want to do a G-10 now as I have just ordered decals! }
  8. Thank you! I will not be doing a g-10 then as I've just brought the revell kit! My understanding is that a g-14 is able to built from the revell kit though.. am I right?
  9. thanks for the advice guys, going to build either a g-10 or g-14 from the revel kit, maybe use the new barracuda decals when they hit the stores
  10. Thanks for the reply, and yes, after doing some research tonight it looks like ALOT of work just to save a little cash....darn
  11. Hi all Just wondering if any of you folks know if its possible to convert revell's new(ish) offering to an F model without to much fiddling around. I've read that they are quite similar but I need some expert advice on what I'd need to chop off/add on etc. Of course i could just buy Hasegawa's but im a bit of a cheap skate ;)
  12. Really glad to see you back building! looks brilliant
  13. Thank you all for the kind words! Finally finished so here's some new photos Thanks again and happy modelling! :salute:/>
  14. Absolutely incredible build and a pleasure to watch it come to fruition! Following this build has been a great inspiration for me over the years. Congratulations!
  15. Really nice build, did u add extra detailing or is it out of the box? another question, how big is it? Hard to tell from pics
  16. Loving this build! looking forward to seeing it lit up
  17. Hi and thank you! I didn't make the LED set up no. I brought an LED light kit from ebay, the seller made it to my specs and for a real low price, saved me a lot of hassle, http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/bloater079?_trksid=p2053788.m1543.l2754 . I just glued the LEDS to the fibre optics id already installed, crammed it all in and its done.
  18. Hi and thanks nicholas! For the chipping I first painted on the darker green grey then used a latex masking fluid which I stippled on with a sponge and scraped some with a tooth pick to make it look less uniform, all the time studying ref pics! When dry, I sprayed over lighter grey/green then peeled off masks. It took a few attempts to get it right!
  19. Hey all! Here's my Slave 1 almost done although still lots of touch ups and fettling to do. Really enjoyed this build despite nearly giving up due to melting the right wing shoulder-thing and having to rebuild it with milliput (hot fire + plastic = bad news!). I've used ref pics of actual studio model and attempted to emulate the chipping/colours etc as best as possible. I used custom mixed mr. color paints (finemolds colour suggestions are a imo incorrect)and oil paints and chalks for weathering. With lights on (pics don't really do it justice imo) Still unsure about how t

  21. A great start! really good job on the intakes. Cant offer any tips on exhaust seams though...that sort of thing would bug me for months lol
  22. Hi all. Started work on this kit some months ago but had nothing to show until recently. Ive decided to fill/remove all of the rivet detail to later be replaced with trusty Archers rivets (Blimey, what have i let myself in for??). This was extremely time consuming, mainly because i had to rescribe alot of detail and i am frankly crap at scribing! Also i'll be using all of the amazing PART photo etch sets available. Its gonna be a long road :salute:/> Some work on the machine gun, still some tidying up to be done Front Wheel well Back wall of troop cabin Any comments ar
