Hawaii Air National Guard F-15A Model from Hasegawa
j-basset replied to aerodrew's topic in Jet Modeling
Mark, If I recall correctly, Fox One Decals did the HANG F-102 in one of their now OOP F-102 sheets. Jason C. -
Generally most of what you need are all already present in the Hase A-4C (or A-4L) kit. Some small antennas would need to be scratch-built though. I think ARC member aidy abdullah of VFA Decals has more to say on the subject. There is information relating to the A-4PtM having a different canopy with bulged/blown sides for better visibility. It's not difficult to see 'live' A-4PTM's as there are a few across the country as museum pieces or gate guards, but not having seen the original A-4C canopy, it's hard to comment.

They would be in the overall light gull gray scheme. Glossy too. I think it's an intermdediate scheme before the introduction of the TPS scheme.

PHANTOM F-4 C/D 1/48 MONOGRAM-REVELL new release
j-basset replied to G_Marcat_Italy's topic in Jet Modeling
TAM = Tactical Air Meet I recall reading that the Spangdahlem aircraft were marked that way for their participation. -
Paul, I have the Diamondbacks 50th Anniv DVD and there was a slide show of the aircraft types operated. there were a couple photos of low viz F-4J's, but they were very fuzzy. Superscale also did a semi low vis VF-102 F-4J CAG bird in 1/72 a long time back. It was a mixed sheet with an A-7E and a F-14A. Jason

Wolfpack 1/32 F-4EJ Kai 8th Sqn. 'Black Panther'
j-basset replied to gustav53's topic in Jet Modeling
Gustav, Looks outstanding! How about doing something about the under-sized Tamiya tail pipes as well? I really look forward to this one. Jason C. -
I concur, and if you decide to use the F-4DableModels chaff dispenser set, you also set the GPS dome and a PE fret for the 'fish-bone' vents on the LERX seen on most C & D models. F-4DableModels R32-001 Jason C.

I built one of the Fujimi E-2C's a couple year back. It was the 'USS Independence' boxing, and it had the updated windscreen parts, and what appears to be updated props, landing gears (NLG & MLG) and wheels. The new landing gear parts are very nicely done, and I guess it stops there. In their VAW-115 'Liberty Bell' edition with Cartograf decals, there was a further minor update which included just the GPS dome on he rotodome. It's the 'bowler hat' shaped GPS dome and not the latest version, though. This has been carried on to the NP2000 release.

You can still get it from Luckymodel. Apart from the dual chaff & flare dispensers, it also contains: - GPS dome - two PE fish bone vents to correct the early one molded on the Acad kit Can be viewed here: ALE-47

I would be very keen to see them do a Danish Draken. Not having looked into this aircraft much, I don't know what it takes to produce a Danish version. I received one from a good friend as a birthday present, and was surprised that Hasegawa used the same box size as their 1/48 F-4, but it's a really nice kit.

In addition to what Dave Cook mentioned, you will need: 1. a pair of unsltted horizontal stabilators 2. a C/D type forward nose landing gear door 3. under nose fairing (if applicable) 4. maybe a new rear instrument panel. You will also need to fill in the two catapult bridle attachment points at the wing roots. IMHO, the Monogram J seems more of a C/D, than a J. Even the AF style MLG wheels are included.

aircommando130, I have to apologize for the lack of presence in the US for the timebeing. You will be able to order the 1/32 F/A-18C/D Chaff & Flare Dispenser set from Luckymodel in Hong Kong. They have stock of the item. Jason C.
-
That would certainly be the way to go about it. Hope that Tamiya includes the early style AIM-9 launch rails to widen the possibilities for us all. How about both early and late style MLG wheel hubs? Jason

Title says it all. It's now on pre-order and is due in March. Tammiya F-16C Block 25/32 There's also a F-16 detail set? I'm guessing it must be the scab plates. Jason C.

Frederick, Further to Dave's reply, I would like to add that the Export Bugs B sheet with markings for both Spanish & Malaysian F/A-18's is still available. You should be able to get it from Lucky Model, AirDOC (Germany) or Hannants (UK). Jason C. F-4DableModels

Should Fox One Decals start making decals again?
j-basset replied to Fox One Decals's topic in Jet Modeling
Yes, you should. No question about it. Have always loved your subject matter. Jason C. F-4DableModels -
The 'spare' instrument panels in the Academy kit are to accomodate the C/D & E variants which shared the same mold mostly. I don't recall there being a MSIP IP included. Jason

To my knowledge, you can arm a model of a TUDM F/A-18D with: AIM-9P-4 (not -9L, although we have training rounds for it) AIM-7M AGM-84A AGM-65 (not sure which mark) GBU-12 CRV-7 FFAR pods SUU-30 training dispenser Nitehawk FLIR pod The AIM-120 is a new acquisition. Also heard that JDAM's have been requested. Jason C.

I've been told before that Revell Germany used the dimensions of the Spey powered F-4K/M hence the incorrectly sized intakes. Didn't expect the discrepancy to be this huge, though. Jason

A couple more mods needed to back date to a Block 5/10: 1. relocation of the blade antenna between the ventral fins to just aft of the intake lip & forward of the NLG door. 2. removal of the 2 blade antennas under the forward fuselage, just aft of the radome. 3. adding a small dome like antenna under the intake, just aft of item 1) above. 4. replacement of the late type gun muzzle molded into the Academy fuselage. Jason

The 30mm GPU-5/A gun pod was hung on the centre-line of the NY ANG F-16A, which I believe were Block 5 or 10 airframes. To build the Academy kit as a Block 5 or 10 jet, you also need to replace the horizontal stabilators with the original 'small' stabilators. The ones provided in the kit were introduced on Block 15 jets onwards. Remember reading that they flew a few missions with the gunpod on the opening days of Desert Storm, which didn't work too well due to some software issues. Thereafter, they ended up using various freefall munitions instead, and photos show some of their jets carried

I understand it's a re-issue of the 1/48 Grand Phoenix F3H-2, but with new decals, and what appears to be new pylons. Looking to buy one myself, eventhough I already bought the GP kit. Jason C.
