Yes, Italeri and Testors did release a 1/48 F-4S in the early 1990's. I still have mine. It was based on the Italeri/Testors F-4E/G kit, with a new nose & other parts for the S. Raised panel lines, dismal kit, but pretty OK decals. Jason

Hasegawa plastic...is it supposed to do this?
j-basset replied to Darren Roberts's topic in Jet Modeling
One of my friends had a similar problem while building the Hase 1/48 VF-103 F-14B Last Flight kit. He used super glue on the wing glove area joints, and while pressing the halves down together, fractures appeared on the areas where pressure was being applied, which caved in. Jason -
I'm still particularly keen in the F-4C. The Monogram 1/48 F-4C/D is a very nice kit, considering the Hasegawa 1/48 F-4C/D also does not comes with recessed panel lines. That would be great source of affordable kits for Hi-Decals' previously announced F-4D MiG Killer sheet. Jason *edited to correct error*

I'll probably go for it, and the F-4C referred below, but what are the odds that it is actually a re-issue of the Monogram F-4C/D and F-4J? Notice that Accurate seems to have re-released some old Monogram stuff of late. Jason C.

Diamondbug, Malaysia is not well-known for cheap Hasegawa models. Revell stuff is also not well stocked, and certainly not on an up-to-date basis. You should be able to get the Hasegawa F/A-18F, though. Please PM me if you need any help navigating in KL, or any help at all. KL is the place to be where modelling is concerned. Regards, Jason C.

What do you think the next 50's USN/USAF jet in 48th will be

I would love to see these: FJ-2 FJ-3/FJ-3M F2H-2/2P F2H-3/4 F11F-1 Eagerly awaiting Hobbycraft's F9F-6 & F9F-8 models too. Jason -
Ron, A few manufacturers have released resin cockpit detail sets for the Hasegawa F-4B & J. I think the ones still available or easier to find these days would be the ones by Aires and Legend. I personally prefer the ones by Aires. An F-4E cockpit won't do for a Navy/Marine F-4. Apart from the detail differences, the rear cockpit is totally different. Jason

Didn't Revell announce at the i-Model Expo this year that they were going to release the GRB-36 FICON in 1/72? No other details that I know about, though. Also mentioned was a 1/48 AC-47. Jason C.

Hi, I don't have my Gunze paint chart with me, but Hasegawa instructions cross references between Gunze Mr. Color & Gunze Aqueous paints, which don't necessarily share the same code. Did you by chance happen to mistake a Mr. Color code for an Aqueous code? If not, maybe you could check out what is the equivalent Mr. Color code in the instructions, and get a better idea? Jason

Based on your description, the large protrusion would be the rubber hood for the radar scope, which is a removable item. All the Hase F-4's rear instrument panels do not have the hood molded on. Jason

Thanks for all the feedback. At the rate I build, I think I should wait for Hobbycraft's F9F-6/8 models, but for now I guess it's prudent to at least wait till my FM F11F-1 comes in from Squadron before I even think about buying the FM F9F-6. No sense in dumping hard earned $$$ down the proverbial black hole. I have this intention to build (or accumulate) a collection of US Navy F-series jets from the FJ-1 all the way to the F/A-18F, hence the interest. Still waiting for an injection molded 1/48 FJ-2/3 and F2H-2/3/4, to more or less round off the collection. I just can't afford the Collecta

Thanks, Ken. I've been eyeing their Cougar. Have just ordered their F11F-1 from Squadron, which seems to have reduced the price a little. Regards, Jason

Secret new tool item from Hasegawa 48 scale
j-basset replied to Paolo Maglio's topic in Jet Modeling
Equally curious myself, but I'm inclined to think it's a limited edition re-box of an existing kit judging from the product number, which is consistent for such releases. Looking at the Hasegawa web site, I also think that it would likely have something to do with a Japanese subject. So, another special F-4EJ Kai or F-2, or ......? Jason -
Hi, I'm curious about this kit. Does anyone here have it and can possibly chime in on how the kit is? Is it worth the money? Thanks. Jason C.

Stanton, F-4DableModels is still in business. There is still plenty of stock of the 1/32 F/A-18C/D Chaff & Flare Dispenser. Pending appointment of a new US retailer, we will sell direct if payment can be made by Paypal. Thanks for your interest. Jason C. F-4DableModels

Has anyone done the S-3B VS-21 Anniversary scheme in 48th?
j-basset replied to Cobrahistorian's topic in Jet Modeling
Actually, about 2 years back, F-4DableModels had been given some walkarounds for the very same jet. We started work on it, and actually finished the painted ladies, but had to drop the project due to some business reasons. Anyway, certain happenings during the course of the last 2 weeks have made us contemplate taking it up again. Is there any demand for a second sheet on the same jet plus a line jet? Jason C. -
L/F Daco B-1B book
j-basset replied to Darth Putty's topic in The Spares Box - add scale to your title
Is this book out of print or something? I've still got a couple in my stock. Jason C. -
No hard evidence, but I strongly believe so. I do know someone who used to fly E-2B's for VAW-115 'Liberty Bells' around the same timeframe. Maybe I could ask him and see. Jason

Thanks, Stephen. Glad it arrived safely. Jason

I believe it's the Don Colour (Color) website. Don't remember the exact url, I'm afraid. Jason

Any release date yet on Academy's new 1/72 F-8J kit?
j-basset replied to Scooter Man's topic in Jet Modeling
I just picked up on Thursday, the 2 I ordered from the local shop that imports them. It has exactly the same parts (far as I can tell) as their F-8P, and the decals by Cartograf are well printed. Can't be nuch longer before it's in general circulation elsewhere. Jason C. Malaysia -
This is an interesting thread: As for me, F-4DableModels can't be considered a real resin AM producer since we only produced a single PE/resin aftermarket item. Two of our 'future' products previously announced here have been held up due to production issues - we go through a third party to get our stuff cast. We have no plan to do it ourselves, since time is a premium on our side. It personally pains me greatly to be unable to deliver what we announced, so we will make every effort to come through, although it will take time. In that time, it's perfectly fair game for anyone else to produ

It's strange, but the F2H has really been on my mind the past couple of weeks as well, and I've been reading a lot about it... Pity there isn't a good & affordable F2H around in 1/48. Also looking for the Testors F2H myself, but it sin't listed on Squadron or GMW's web site any more. Jason

Darren, The Italeri/Testors 1/48 F-4S has markings for NF205 of VF-151 in the TPS scheme. Might do the job for you. If there's no time frame attached to your comission build, may I suggest waiting? I have it on good authority that someone will be releasing a 'VF-151 F-4S history' type decal sheet hopefully before the year is out.

Need Help! - Detail & Scale Colors & Markings No. 15
j-basset replied to j-basset's topic in Jet Modeling
Thanks a lot. Definitely not an A or B model, I guess? VA-93 operated both types too. Another tell-tale sign would be the cannon muzzles, which differed on the E model. Jason
