  1. You used Sky decals--cool. I'm working on getting things together for my 1/48 collection build of representation of all the major fighter a/c the Israeli Air Force has flown over the years, and am at a quandary: 1. What gray did you decide to go with for the main color? I've seen pics of gray, I've seen pics of camo, and I've seen pics of a dirty gray-green. I think I'm going to try for that dirty gray-green, but am trying to find out what's what. 2. Looking to Eduards for good landing gear and detailed cockpit. Finding all kinds of EXPENSIVE goodies that can make it look GREAT, but
  2. JUST ordered the Hasegawa F-4E Phantom II 1Pc Canopy myself. Paid $55 for it through Amazon. It's the "30 years of Phabulous Phantoms" model, so I KNOW I'm gonna have to get a PILE of details to go with. I know for the price I'm gonna end up with, I could have ended up just buying the Tamiya model for $120+, but I just didn't feel like it. I already also ordered the eduards details for the body and cockpit, some of which I don't doubt I'm not gonna use, but I'm now in REAL need of the additional details. I KNOW Isradecal has a lot of the stuff needed, but I need stuff like weapons loadout
  3. Thanks for the input everyone. I really want to do the Israeli jets, and have decided based on the great info everyone has given me here to take it back and order the "E" models. Thanks everyone!! Some GREAT stuff, and you learn something new every day!! Now to get the 1/48 goodies for a Kurnass conversion...
  4. Wow--I had no idea they were painted in Israeli desert...sure looks like. Cool pics by the way!! THANKS!!!
  5. THERE'S an interesting idea...now I just need to go searching for pics...from what I've been finding so far of nothing but E's, I have the feeling it's not going to be an easy search. Do you have any history on them? If they are what I THINK they might be, this could be the perfect lead-in for a diorama I've been considering. An F4 in USAF livery with half the USAF markings painted over, and only one or two covered over with the Star of David, with a crew in process of painting the new livery on. A US air crew walking away, an Israeli air crew standing by, weapons being loaded out, and a t
  6. Great. Easily moddable or don't even bother trying and return it?
  7. I don't get to Hobby Lobby all that often, finally managing today to get there and pick up not only some Testor's FS paints (got some of what I need, missing a few yet, and then got some I came to find I "don't need"--yeah, right, like you can EVER have "too many" different shades to work with) and got an ok deal on the 1/48 Monogram F4C. Why did I think the IAF used C's AND E's? All I can find reference to is the E's. Please tell me the difference is VERY minor and EASILY corrected, or that they DID use C's. I'd hate to have to take the thing back...
  8. Oh no!! the link as you posted it doesn't work!! I was looking forward to that. I was thinking of a diorama of exactly that F-4E!! PERFECT!!
  9. Always loved building models, and I (like every other human being) like making new friends who like the same things I do. I stumbled across Waterfox a couple years ago. As for other goodies for the computer, are you familiar with ccleaner? Good program--can fix registry issues and is a particularly powerful uninstaller. Good tool to have, and it's free.
  10. I'm not afraid of modding and bashing...I understand the differences were relatively minor, and for the most part could be modded in? Also--I understand that the F-4's the Israelis first got from us were basically yanked out of Vietnam and brought to them--so they were in our standard camo colors to start with, but with US AIR FORCE painted over and the Star of David placed on top. I'm gonna need to get the F-4 Kurnass set from Isradecal, but am I right on this one? Thinking of doing 2 F-4's. One as delivered, the other as a full rebuild Kurnass 2000. Got some FS paint #s for those set-up
  11. Hmm--decided to try Security-hole ridden Internet Explorer and it came up fine. I prefer using Waterfox--the 64 bit version of Firefox.
  12. Thanks for the info!! I'll be searching these out and adding them to my collection of supplies. Sucks not being close to a hobby shop!! What's going on with isradecal? I try going to their webpage, but it's blank--nothing there. Please tell me they didn't go out of business!! I need Israeli decals for the Meteor, Spitfire, Mustang, F-16, F-15, and F4 (Kurnass). I also need detail kits for some of them as well. Saw some stuff for the Avia S.199--pretty cool, as the model I got was made in New Zealand (talk about crappy quality!!). The Meteor kit I got is pretty bad, too. VERY poor on
  13. I've been working on compiling a 1/48 scale collection of the major fighter a/c the IADF has used over it's lifespan. A fascinating history, no doubt, I'm trying to be as accurate as I can in my compilation. I'm not near my models at the moment, working out of state, but would like to get as much together for when I am re-united with them and actually start working on them. I need the FS paint code numbers for the desert camo the Israeli aircraft use. If anyone has them, I'd appreciate them. Thnx!!
