  1. This is a perfect excuse to get started on my Accurate Miniatures 1/48 scale B-25B Mitchell done up in the Doolittle Raid markings! Count me in!
  2. I really like Testor's Model Master primer. I just add some acrylic thinner to it, and it flows very nicely and evenly through the airbrush. Works very well for my purposes!
  3. Here's my build! Not as awesome some of the models I've seen on here though! :jaw-dropping: I hope my photos post properly!
  4. Glad to know I'm not totally nuts. So marking up instruction sheets and making notes is a good thing!
  5. Hi Guys, So as I am getting some more experience in building scale models the right way (turns out I've been doing it wrong when I was a kid), I'm realizing the order in which you assemble and paint makes a huge difference in how it comes out in the end. So my question is, would you keep the details off the model until after decals have been applied, to avoid damaging them? Do you assemble and paint the details separately before attaching? Doesn't that ruin the paint finish if you wait till the last minute? I was working on my P-47, and I attached some details, wanting to get them primed a
  6. I am in the process of building a Hasegawa 1/48 P-47D, and when I was adding on some additional parts, I accidentally snapped off the aerial mast. It flung across the room and I have no idea where it went. How would you guys recommend recreating it from scratch? Thanks!
  7. I absolutely love Tamiya Extra Thin Cement! It has completely changed the way I build models. And it also helps seal up seams if you glue stuff together right. It's strong, it's fast working, it comes in an awesome container, easy to use with the little brush...well worth it in my opinion. If you haven't tried it, you should!
  8. I got my airbrush yesterday and set up all the stuff. Holy cow! I adjusted the PSI to 15 and I tried spraying some ink onto a towel-the airbrush is amazingly intuitive to use. It feels like an extension of my hand! I was able to write, make fine lines, do big broad covering strokes. Next up, I'll try priming a plastic bottle. This is a pretty sweet setup! (And the airbrush cup holds plenty of paint for models)
  9. Well, I finally did it! After 10 years of debate, I ordered my first airbrush today. It's the Iwata Revolution BR with the TC-20T compressor and air hose. I'm excited to start painting!
  10. I'll be working on my 1/72 F/A-18C, and probably adding decals to an old Dragonfly I had apparently forgotten about. And trying to seriously fly the IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 sim.
  11. I'll have to double check D&J Hobby again, even though I was there this past weekend. I guess my memory is going I must be losing it, cause I finally found some on sale at Squadron. Go figure :P Thanks guys!
  12. Hi All! I just saw zotzdecals for a 1/48 P-47, and I must build one. Any recommendations on where I could get a kit? Seems like the Tamiya is no longer in production...Thanks!
  13. Thanks so much for the extra info guys. I think from the feedback, and based off of what I intend to do with the airbrush, the Iwata CR or BR will be ideal. I live in a condo, so any spraying will most likely occur outside on the patio, so a quieter compressor is necessary. Has anybody tried this type of compressor from airbrushdepot, the TC20T?
  14. I hope they get that Phantom painted up as well! It looks like it's in pretty good shape though! Unlike the Intrepid, you can walk right up to these planes.
