to me that looks like the underside colour of RAF air defence aircraft ie tornado f3, phantom fgr2 etc etc. although its more faded and weather beaten on the tomcat!! colour is light aircraft grey humbrol 166 heres a tornadpo f3 to prove my point. http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=0633...next_id=0609731

Sorry i cant give you reference numbers but i can give you these: the colours i use are humbrol 167 (barley grey) uppers, 165 (medium sea grey) nose cone and inner wings and undersides 166(light aircraft grey) undersides. # Hope that helps! ps 56 squadron phantoms kickass!!!

hmmm ive been waiting for this to come up and ive been keeping and eye on what the aussies on here had to say about JSF. Im glad someone mentioned britain so i can comment lol. From what ive heard the major disagreement was that despite us brits putting in 2 billion the americans wanted to keep certain technology to themselves! so for example software upgrades would have to be done in the US at our cost which considering how much we contributed seems unreasonable. Yeah i knew that the GR9 was a step down because fa2 had blue fox radar its called which was developed to work specially with aim-120. On one hand i think oh great look where budget cutting got us before - the falklands is a prime example. Shortage of aircraft and having to use a vulcan that was about to be scrapped! from what ive heard when all the harrier fa2's are retired my countries navy gets the next raf version of the harrier - the GR9!

yeah totally agree with you about the copies ive made several images of my kits against a sky background including the phantom and Bucc below as my sig! Generally it looks good but i find getting right takes time and lots of patience too. Loving that RN tomcat wish we had them for real...... <_< very very cool website too photos look awesome.

i was wondering if any1 might know the correct humbrol paint numbers for the greys on current A-10s as they wore in OIF. The colours given are light ghost grey dark ghost grey and gunship grey. any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

simple answer: yes Their jet kits are highly detailed in terms of recessed panel lines cockpit detail etc. Ive found that parts fit really well too, little finishing required (for the most part).The few downsides to their kits are lack of weapons (although fuel tanks are included) the general price of kits and also the number of parts per kit! for example the F14D ive build body is in three different sections, wings have flaps as seperate parts detail inside of intakes etc.This makes for excellent kit in terms of accuracy but will take more skill in construction etc. So really i would

its looks to be like they are simply two different camo schemes on the second pic all the colours are shades of blue whereas the first pic seems all the colours are shades of grey or thats my opinion anyway. Have to say i would agree with you the blue camo scheme looks better!

well all your kits of british planes look amazing that tornado needs mucking up a bit tho blacken the tail and engines! and a special mention the weathering on those 2 skyraiders is perfect!!!!! exceptional work Stephen (who cant stand to see a clean plane) :blink:

been wondering about this cos it seems strange enough to me why f14 squadrons are converting to F18E'S in some cases anyway, but more importantly what do the backseaters then do? train as pilots????

i used it on my lightning F6 shown here and it came out great................. i found however that when i tried to hand paint the humbrol varnish on the paint sorta dissolved spray varnish however was fine.

if your interested in aircraft that never saw production take a look at the UK! my countries govt is expert at cancelling what would have been great aircraft for the RAF! TSR2 of course is the obvious example and there is an airfix kit coming out around september also there is the saunder roe 177 a mixed powerplant interceptor (jet/rocket).

well my hasegawa tiger squadron FGR2 arrived yesterday! i finished my other phantom FGR2 (shown below) before the group build had started but i liked building that much and was pleased with the completed build i had to get involved with this GB! Im building my kit as XT 914 which was displayed with 74 squadron and 56 squadron markings and looks real cool.
