  1. See this is information that makes sense. I know all too well about how the Navy does things. I knew there had to be more to it. Thank you ! So can I assume that 10th airwing is CVW-14 or does that make too much sense too?
  2. I read today on Alert 5, which linked to a Navy a Times story about the F-35, that as part of the refocus on the Pacific that VFA-136 and VFA-11 will be moving west to Lemoore in June 2016 and January 2017 respectfully. Why move two squadrons from CVW-1 west? Why not move two squadrons that deploy from Oceana as part of a west coast airwing? VFA-81, VFA-34.
  3. Thanls for the info! The carousel that is the the VAQ community. Anyone heard or seen anything about VAQ-209's transition?
  4. When did VAQ-136 become part of CVW-2 ? I thought they were assigned to CVW-9 ? What VAQ squadron is in CVW-9 then ?!!
  5. VFA-151 isn't going anywhere. They recently recieved their first F/A-18E strait from Boeing. They photos over at their Facebook page.
  6. VFA-151 is currently transitioning the the F/A-18E. VFA-192 will transition shortly after their return from deployment. I have not heard anything about VFA-34, VFA-94 and VFA-146 transitioning. But with the sequestration looming it could very well affect how and when squadrons transition.
  7. I wonder if '500' is in full color also?
  8. Nice catch! The most interesting thing is that she is numbered 501. CAG used to be 500. Aside from the nose the font for all of the lettering is different also. Looks pretty sharp!
  9. From what I've read, VFA-25 is going to replace VFA-192 in CVW-9 when they return from deployment. I would imagine allowing 192 to transition to the F/A-18E.
  10. Don't wory about it! I would sincerely love to see some of the old colors of my childhood adorning the tails of Navy fighters in the future! I wish I could be so.....
  11. I was under the impression that F-35C's would be replacing aircraft one for one (if not less) in active Legacy and Rhino squadrons. Not reactivating former squadrons. I hardly think that is within the budget. BUT if they did, I can think of a lot of older and longer serving squadrons that I would like to see reactivated before VF-1 Wolfpack. VF-21, VF-24, VF-31, VF-51, VF-74, VF-114, VF-142.....the list goes on! There are a few legacy squadrons that have been disestablished over the years too. Of course if your really into history then you'll go back to VF-153 Blue Tail Flies etc. But sad
  12. Nice catch! VAQ-134 with their new 'AJ' tail code. Interesting that 502 has a different style 'A' than 501. Almost looks like the font they might have used for CVW-17's old 'AA' tail code. While 501 got a freshly painted 'AJ'
  13. Your right! I forgot about VFA-86. Well it would make sense that VFA-34 be the odd man out. Maybe they get assigned to an ATLFLT CVW and stopping having to fly cross county to deploy. As for VFA-151 they are going to transition to the F/A-18E. Boeing has a video up on their site of the squadron flying into St Louis to tour the production line. It states in the video that they are going into the Echo.
  14. According to VFA-25's web site they will be joining CVW-9 aboard the Stennis. Not CVW-2 as earlier thought. This makes sense in so much as they would replace VFA-192 who is scheduled to transition to the Echo next. If correct I would guess that VFA-2 would retain both VFA-151 and VFA-34 as they just recently returned from deployment. No urgent need to replace a squadron. Also VAQ-137 the Rooks recently returned to NAS Whidbey with their E/A-6B's for the last time. They will begin transition to the Growler prior to their next deployment.
