  1. Thanks, That is immensely clear now. All settled I believe. Shame, it is a pity that all those nice big bombs are 'wasted'. ah well, they go to the spares box. Thanks again. Ivan
  2. I found something where it states that the early models were bomb carriers, but the -10 versions were only used for 3 missiles in total (1 AS-2, 2 AS-6). Of course I managed to close the website and can't trace it again. It is interesting to see that the kit has different parts which to me looks as though it is possible to do several (non-listed) versions. Ivan
  3. All, maybe I should just try to save all question so I can ask it all in one go. Sorry. 1/72 - Trumpeter. I am getting to the fuselage now. The internal bomb bay is done. Now, it is possible to use the 'hatch' and close the bomb bay so the AS-2 missile can get to hang there. However, the set comes with a truck load of bombs. The internal bomb bay has two slots and it looks as though the 'heavies' can fit there. It raises a few questions, which I, in my ignorance' have no solutions to: 1) Are the bombs an option? 2) Should there be a bomb rack? not just slot them in? 3) did we ever see
  4. Sebastijan, Thanks a ton. I imagined it would be something like that. Nice to see others have done this. I squinted at the galleries, but found nothing which could lead me in the right direction. Yours, Ivan
  5. All, I am finally getting to this one (Daughter bought me a great Bf-109 for Christmas. Had to do it first). In this 1/72 - Trumpeter set I find these Photo Etched small golden things. I take it that I just glue those where they belong (yes?) The instrument panel - Here is a little 'film' as well. The sheet shows that first I need to apply the film, then the golden photo etched thing. The film is a rather hard piece of plast. Glue? water? very small screws? cut it out nicely in the right shape? Do I paint the photo edged things? I am at a loss. HELP is needed Ivan
  6. yes, I see that. Thanks I have the maritime Tu-142. The nose is rather distinctive, I have to admit. Ivan
  7. All, I have this rather impressive set 1:72 - from Trumpeter. TU 16K-10 - Badger C. The sheet specifies that the overall colour should be silver/metallic. Insofar as this set has the solid nose, I trust it must be the maritime version. I have been admiring a few pictures from Airliners.net. The glass-nosed one's may have the traditional white belly and grey top. My questions are a bit silly, maybe: 1) Is solid nose = metallic? 2) The AS-6 and AS-2 missiles are specified as being olive drab. I have the Tu-22 where the AS-6/KH-22 is red. what should it be? 3) A picture from google sho
  8. Thanks. I will 'digest' all of this and try some of it out to see what goes well together. South Africa - So I think we will hve to wait a bit for 243 and 244 to arrive Thanks all, Ivan
  9. Thanks. As usual helpful input here at this forum. Humbrol 88 looks a bit too 'green' to me. Humbrol 149 looks pretty spot-on. It is still possible to use 106 and get it greener, but it is also correct that the mixing business is not the better option in any way. The 'hoorrible' thing is that 149 and 91 (RLM 70) seems about right when looking at the gallery here. The kit is depicting a C-4 from summer '44 (9/KG40, Avard, France). I somehow have this feeling that the north Atlnantic weather would not have been too kind to paint in any event. And the focus could have been elsewhere than t
  10. The engine question could be the difference BMW or Bramo engines, But which one is what? Ivan
  11. All, Revell is still confusing me. I have the beautiful set of 1:72 Focke-Wulf 200 C-4 Now, according to Wikipedia: Fw 200 C-4 Similar to C-3, but carried FuG Rostock search radar, late production aircraft used FuG 200 Hohentwiel radar. Except there are no rader antennas in the kit. This kit is carrying two bombs on the outer nacelle each. Is this strictly correct? I thought it had two bombs in the gondola bomb bay? Please help! There is an optional 'funny' piece between the after door and before the after machine gun. looks like a windshield for .. something. Cannot see what it is. HE
  12. That is a nice walk-around. Is it restored to a flying condition? I have tried my very best to do some pics of the finished product - with my cell phone - as I cannot find my daugther's camera. Not great. I will try when she surrenders her camera. Ivan
  13. All, Thanks for all the help and assistance on this. It is finished and does not look too bad despite all the short-comings. I fixed as much as I could without taking chances of messing it up instead. Will it have a place hanging from the ceiling like the rest of the 4-engine bombers? YES it will It is like the homeless cats my daughter is coming home with. You may not want them, but you have to love them anyway. So, it is there, having a special place after all. Just like the last kitten she found. Ivan
  14. All, Thanks. There is a lot to do on this kit. I am looking at the freightdog kit. It looks as though this is the bare minimum which can be fixed without major problems. The price, considering exchange rate, is nearly what I paid for the kit to begin with (2 years back), but I think I have to do it. Thanks for this advise. I am reluctant to do major 'surgery' on my own as I have a good chance of messing it up. I am not 100% proficient in that art. The bomb environment I can fix. I have enough 'things' left over from a Lancaster and a Stirling. Maybe a stupid question: In my youth(a lot of
  15. Thanks for all this info. I haven't put the tail wheel in its place yet. Thanks! That I can fix. Those bomb load pictures are great. It adds to the quest for something authentic. It really looks like the Halifax could have a variety of bombs. Much more than I had ever imagined. The bomb compartment in the first picture looks a bit 'home made'. would the entire box drop with the bombs? The bombs in picture 2 look yellow, but maybe it is just the picture. It was close with gluing the parts together. Only lack of glue prevented it happening today. The seat goes. Thanks for all this. It is
