  1. Ian - just is just plain awesome! Very nicely done mate! You should take a series of shots (including close ups) for the Display Case
  2. wow Jorge! That is some incredible paint work there Look forward to seeing more of it when you get enthused about it again
  3. I personally use the Dremel Stylus as it has a variable speed control dial on the back of it and you hold it like you would a pencil giving you excellent control for really fine work. The only down side to it is you can't use it in the drill press tool
  4. nice choice! Looking forward to seeing your version Is that a decal for the canopy I see on that sheet? I've never seen that before on a kit. I must build one of these FM kits one day...
  5. strueth - Indeed - happy Australia day to you all as well - even though it's almost over!
  6. hey everyone Did anyone ever make a road version of the awesome Cosworth Escort RS? I know Tamiya produced the rally versions, but did any manufacturer make the production model? How hard would it be to convert a rally version into a road car?
  7. I am so jealous - I wish I could do that kind of plastic surgery to my SU-27 and get away with the beautiful canards like yours without the fear of making a mess of it. I'll just have to be content with drooling over yours and taking some notes for the time being ... BTW - that pit pf yours - truly awesome and very realistic! :worship: MH
  8. I've been intently watching all 3 SU-27 builds going on here of late and furiously taking notes for my own build which I'll start sometime this year, but you have the most eye catching scheme I've seen on a Flanker yet! You've done some seriously awesome work on this mate MH
  9. whoa - that's seriously nice man! I always enjoy seeing your finished builds - very clean and tidy and nicely detailed Thanks for sharing Aigore! MH
  10. hey man If your still here, you can check out the 3 main places: Victorian Hobby Center in Swanston St just down from Flinders Street main intersection, Hearns Hobbies on Flinders Street on the train station side of Elizabeth st intersection or Hobby Place on Lonsdale St - although it can be a little expensive there and the shop can be a bit all over the show. I usually tend to deal with the first 2 as they have a good range and they are really good to me. The cheapest place is definitely Vic Hobby Center Hope this helps MH
  11. Chris - that's awesome (the pic you've done). I am intending on doing something like that, but maybe have it in the middle of a battle scene - like at the opening scene of ROTS. Not completely sure what I'm going to do yet but when it comes to Photoshop: I'm going to get the missus to do it for me as she was a pro photographer (although her subjects were typically human) I'm just trying not to over do it on the whole posting pics thing. I think people have already had enough of looking at it and I don't know how many more angles I can cover Don't want to over saturate it! Wizard - sorry f
  12. I love it! Very nicely done. Could I suggest drilling out the guns though? Looking forward to seeing how it turns out! Best regards MH
  13. thanks man After I got over myself, I think I fixed the issue: OK, I'm going to stop now....
  14. I'm going to add some more pics of the Venator (because I can) It was after everything had gone together that I peeked underneath and look at what I found: No idea on how to fix it either. Grrrrr
  15. hey thanks Chippy - its a bit early on in the year to be announcing that title yet mate
  16. Thank you very much Tanis, Ken, Alby and Phil for your kind words - It's been a pleasure to share it with you all. It's also very humbling to be the source of someone else's inspiration. LOL - normally I'm the one being inspired! See you all around the boards
  17. thanks very much Dave - I feel kind of sad to. I've worked long hours on this and it feels weird to be finished (almost). As for what's next - I'm not sure yet. First thing is to move into my new house and set myself up in there. After that, I'll take a short break to spend more time with the missus and the boy and then maybe I'll build a 1/32 SU27. I don't know if I'll go to this much trouble again anytime soon (lighting etc) but I do have the Cordoba in mind for a super detailing project. The lessons I've learned from this build will be taken over to the next build and so I hope it will be
  18. I'll post better pics soon Thanks very much everyone for saying around and dropping in over the past year - I just hope the end result was worth it Regards Simon
  19. OK everyone, that moment I never thought would get here has arrived - I have actually finished this project! (well,..almost - still have to black out a few fibers here and there but overall, it's done) I'm going to get the missus to take some better shots and from there, I'll do up a picture/scene in Photoshop (when I learn how to use it properly), but these pics give you the idea. Part 1 part 2 coming up...
  20. Has anyone been to the RPF site recently? If so, am I right in assuming that the numerous posts on there about the site being a fake and to visit another site going by the same name are nothing more than a hoax designed to take you a site infected with Malware just waiting for you to visit or has the actual RPF forum server really been compromised by Malware? It's getting harder to tell these days
  21. thanks Dave - sorry for the delayed reply - I haven't been in front of the computer much over the past few days - been to busy building for once!! It was too late for me to change some of the LED's, but I did replace the uber bright one with a frosted LED, so that should hopefully tone it down. Well, I've almost finished it now; I just have to finish off the display and add one last clear coat after some minor paint touching up and I will call it finished - finally!! I've weathered it with blast burns etc, so that should distract the viewer from the "interesting" paint work. All the ligh
  22. my eyes!!!! - its so shiny, they hurt :D That is probably the best finished car I have seen in a long long time. Brilliant work there! Want to paint mine? How did you find those really irritating 'metal' decals Tamiya like to give you? I gave up on mine - they just wouldn't stick and I almost lost a finger trying to get them off the backing.
  23. hmmm, it does seem that I may have overlooked the brightness factor when I was planning the build, so unfortunately, there is no dimmer. Well, not much I can do about it now, but fortunately, it's a smallish mistake that I'll have to live with. It's also not going to help shooting in such a dark setting either as the camera seems to intensify the lights. I'm playing around with the new flash to try and get better, more even shots I will definitely have to look into that more closely on my next build, so thank you for pointing out that aspect.
