OK- I'm in! Enough time lurking. Great idea to start the new year! I need this beast off of my shelf! This is the first time I am participating in a group build, rules look pretty obvious but please let me know if I need to change anything up! My shelf queen- 1/72 Hasegawa B-47E. I started this kit back in December 2008. During the 6 years since starting it I have had three concentrated efforts to build the kit which have all stalled just due to getting burned out on the overwhelming work that needs to be done to make the kit look nice. I have decided on a compromise on finishing the kit

LF - Tail Gun Window for 72nd Monogram B-52
lyonkubb replied to Air2's topic in The Spares Box - add scale to your title
Two months ago Revell replaced a cracked windshield for me on my B-52 Kit.- They still have spares. Use their most recent release which would be the B-52 w/ X-15 when you make your request. -
I have a 1/48 Monogram B-29 that has followed me around for years. Parts are bagged, decals are curled and slightly yellow. The fuselage halves have been assembled and everything inside has been painted. I last worked on this kit as a teenager in 1987. I build 72 scale now and always though I would build this one anyway. The wings /engines have not been touched. Figured I would throw this on here to see if someone could use it. Asking $10 plus shipping (actual postage only, likely parcel post from 84075 guessing 2-3 lbs) Thanks- Mike

I have one of those "you won't believe this" stories about tis kit....I found one at a yard sale a few years back (Prop assembled-no instructions)for $1! I had a lot of fun building it, was a nice change and it is one of the attention grabbers in my den. -

Awesome shots! I lived around those aircraft for many years, and never saw the composition that you did. Well done! So those were from Balckbird Airpark (Palmdale), The entrance to LMSW (Palmdale), and The Los Angeles Science Center. Where to next?

Cool nose art on "Superbee" from the 151st ARW of the Utah ANG. Utah is "The Beehive State" therefore...Superbee was a fitting nose art. A shot of the noseart and some other shots of the tail band found here: http://www.151arw.ang.af.mil/photos/mediagallery.asp?galleryID=5929 Not far from home if you decide you like this one and want me to get some shots.

Willing to buy Aurora Dc-9
lyonkubb replied to Exluppis's topic in Buy and sell - add scale to your title
I actually have a bagged one that I was getting ready to put on eBay. It does not have decals or instructions and I believe it is missing a nose wheel or something minor like that. I will check tomorrow once home on what is missing. -
Probably the best comment I could give you is that I would love having that sitting in my case! Unique choice of scheme, nice research on the modifications, tastefull choice on the base! well executed!

You're welcome- That was sure a slow boat getting there!

I'm pretty sure I have the whole front landing gear in the spares box. I'll look if interested. From the Monogram kit I built in the 80's

Wolfpak Decals Swap
lyonkubb replied to Glynn Jacobs's topic in The Spares Box - add scale to your title
I will swap you the SR-71 for the Fisher A-1E. Contact me at lyonkubb (at) comcast (dot) net -
Those do look good Marv- I will have to try that. What size wall were you able to get in the tubing? Looks pretty thin. I was able to get some Bra-Z JT9D resin engines recently off eBay.

" I had originally cut off the top portion where the cargo door sits over the cockpit so when I glued the fuselage together I could get a good fit on the windows and place the nose gear in its correct spot. Then I placed the cargo door back on and glued it down. " Great Idea! Wish I had thought of this. I failed to get my clear part in place and ended up filling it with putty and putting a decal for windows. Much more of a challenge getting the decal created than cutting that door along the panel lines!

Selling questions
lyonkubb replied to RedHeadKevin's topic in Buy and sell - add scale to your title
I agree with the suggestions above and will add my recommendation for a scale. I actually use a food scale I got on sale for $8. Guessing high on shipping prices will turn buyers off, guessing low you obviously loose money yourself. Remember to weigh with packing materials, some kits are right at the tipping point of being just under 1 pound and when you add the package it is over- and you are spending more than you quoted. You can order free boxes online from USPS for thier priority mail- that works pretty nice. Prices....people are looking for two things whan they shop for kits in this -
Thanks for the confirmation- I will have to give him a try.

Looking at my 1/144 Revell 747-100 SCA, I am trying to decide what to do with the engines to make them look better. Specifically I don't like how the fan face fits into a ring formed by the two halves of the engine. That chunky ring between the fan case and fan blades is a no-go for me. The other problems with the pylons and engines don't bother me much...they would be nice to fix but I don't have to. Question #1- has anyone "fixed" the fan face problem using the kit engines? How did you do it? Question #2- I found this thread for these resin engines from PAS ( http://www.airlinercafe.com

I like your idea, and I am not trying to take the wind out of your sails here.....but that looks to be a flight test bird at EAFB and likely used for weapons trials. It does not need to be kept full up to save costs. Hence, I would guess why the krylon markings allowed. I would think any exterior markings would be the same color(paint) as all other markings. Another possibility is inside the many doors like in the F-117's during the Gulf War.

The Lockheed X-35 flight test crew and the Boeing X-32 flight test crew were in buildings right next to each other at EAFB during the very short flight test period. Anytime either of the aircraft was outside and moving some of the other team would of course come out to look. We Lockheed guys were always poking fun of that aircraft and one day someone said "hey- it looks like that white house intern Monica because...." and it just stuck. Kind of like the same heckling the Tomcat community gave the Hornet community. Aerospace is a big incestuous industry; it was weird competing fiercely with
