  1. Hello, here's a link to another forum that has lots of pics http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?148986-Operation-Eagle-Claw-1980 you might have to scroll down to see the pics. there are two that show GAU-16s (.50s with the preforated barrel jacket). acording to the book the 53s were painted 36-48 hours prior to the mission, if you look at the pictures you'll notice that there is lots of over spray and that even some of the cabin windows were painted over. There is atleast one RH-53 that had its nose gear door removed. In the book it mentions that the helos carried a navi
  2. Just go with an "airshow" loadout, or a CWTPI bird. Squadrons go through a Conventional Weapons Technical Proficiency Inspection (CWTPI). The ordnance crews have to show that they can load all the weapons that the aircraft is cleared to carry. Just remember that the CWTPI is conducted with training weapons with blue bands or painted gold.
  3. Yup, M240D or a GAU-16 .50 cal mounted in the cabin on the right side of the helo. just found this pic http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/204/25003545sq2.jpg/
  4. Very nice work, brings back memories of triping on tie-down chains at night while walking through the hanger bay when i was on the Nimitz. I like your Hotel, just one thing tho. Fleet Hotels cannot carry the GAU-17 minigun, they are not wired for the system. Only HSC-84 and HSC-85 (formally HCS-4 & 5) HH-60Hs can carry them. Some fleet units did have HSC/Reserve Hotels but probably did not get Miniguns. Either way its going too look awesome.

  7. great looking build, I loved watching those Vipers take off from Balad when i was there in the summer of 2004.
  8. I agree My squadron flew with Pavelows in Iraq and you hit the nail on the head. awesome work, thanks for sharing
  9. they use #7 for public relations. they give VIPs rides in it. i dont know if they have ever use #7 in a show though. The Hasegawa F-18B/D is a nice kit prolly the best imo. IYAOYAS, Jose
  10. you make some very good points. Having worked on SH,HH-60s for 7 years I know those birds have all kinds of back up systems for hydraulics, electrical and radios. for one green box/unit to down a helo is kinda odd. But SEALs are not really familiar with aviation, they are more like "Oddball" from "Kelly's Heroes" who said "I don't know what makes them (tanks) work i just ride in them" Just like all avionics boxes have become "black boxes" even though some are gray. this green unit or box might be some kind of new comm gear or navigation unit. either way it does like you said, makes for
  11. true, i just wanted to point out that Pfarrer is not a washed out or wannabe SEAL.
  12. Chuck Pfarrer, is a former member of SEAL Team-6/DEVGRU
  13. the MH-60S block III armed helo uses the GAU-21 AKA the FN Herstal M3M. the GAU-21 is an all new design by FN Herstal capable of 1100 rounds per minute. the link provided by "thatguy96" is great each gun has a 600 round ammo can. the Sierra can also carry forward fixed GAU-17 miniguns in the gunners windows.
  14. you could re-size the Authentic Decals 1/72 scale sheet. i might have that part yoy need i'll check my parts box. jose
  15. here's a 1/35 scale conversion of what i think is the same aircraft, i found it over on the scale rotors site. http://www.scale-rotors.com/gallery/utility-helicopters/hh-60h-rescue-hawk-academy mabye you can contact the builder and see what they did. jose
