  1. Okay I see what you mean in that 1982 photo. Can someone help me here. The photo on page 8 in Topped Gun of 6210 has the straight fin flash, not the angled one in the '82 photo. Has the Kiwi roundel. Straight refueling probe. Also it has the forward RWR for the ALQ-100 under the nose but no warning antennas under the cannons. Only the tip of the nose is painted black. It is normal markings. Equipped with 4 loaded Zuni rocket pods. But photo is in black and white and the undersides are heavily in shadow. Is there anyway to date that photograph? And know on which side the fuel dump was
  2. Well the wing is all buttoned up. Lower anti-collision light and fuel dump mast have been swapped over. http://projectskyhawk.blogspot.com/2015/10/a-4k-wing.html And just realized I need to remove the slat arms and glue the slats in the retracted position to match photo of 6210 in "Top Gunned" on page 8.
  3. Well not going that far back. There is large B&W photo of 6210 in the book "Topped Gun" with the Kiwi roundels and armed with four Zuni pods and empty centerline MER. That is what I am going for. Looking at the picture again, the leading edge slats for both wings are locked up. Interesting. Will make this "Model" even more different than the other Scooters built.
  4. Making progress. The cockpit is all painted. Used a True Details resin Escapac ejection seat instead of the kit one. Added lap-bets and made the ejection handles from thin wire. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-meVSwCE3Isg/VhhPeaJ4WZI/AAAAAAAAAYM/j_T0I6dxlEw/s1600/DSC02915a.jpg
  5. The Blue Angels pinned them in the up position to preclude one leading edge slat from deploying and the other sticking resulting in some very bad flight characteristics. By locking them up, all it meant was the Blue Angels A-4s landed faster. Don't forget the leading edges of the vertical and horizontal tail surfaces had polished natural metal leading edges. The pinned leading edge slats were also polished natural metal. Along with the lips of the intakes.
  6. Thanks. The square tail with the barrel started life as a Monogram OA-4M but is now an almost finished TA-4H. I call it my Frankenhawk. One behind it is a Hasegawa TA-4J. Not in the picture, because it was on display when photo was taken, is a Monogram A-4E in VA-127 markings and TPS scheme. Everyone needs a few Scooters in their life.
  7. Well I could not wait. Plus ran out of masking tape for TA-4H. So started on A-4K with the Pro-Modeller A-4E kit. I have decided to build one early in their service career with the straight refueling probe. One of the first things to get rid of are the diamond shaped reinforcement plates on the side of the intakes. Reinforcement Plates
  8. Wow, surprised this account still exists. I guess I can dive in with the Pro-Modeller rebox of the Hasegawa A-4E. But build it as a pre-Kahu A-4K using kit spares and Microscale Decal 48-214. And raid the Hobbyboss AF-1/A-4N for the Zuni pods. Once I finish the TA-4H that is in the masking and paint stage. A few of the Skyhawks. The one way way in the back I built over 20 years ago. Yikes! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cKsF1JP8CmQ/Upy1APopxtI/AAAAAAAAARI/QemRr-7ZKJk/s1600/DSC02363.png
  9. Well guys, finally restarted the project again. Posted some progress pics of the leading edge slats and the tail work on my blog. Still not happy with the leading edge slats, but I guess I can live with it. On the bright side, just rolling along going 'hey why don't I fix this problem.' So detailing out the cockpits and instrument panels. Correcting the setup used to open the canopy. Anyone have information on the practice bomb dispenser the IAF uses? 544 and 542 carried it on their centerline. The Isra Decal book on the F-16I Sufa shows the same dispenser used on the Sufa. Would like
  10. I had truly blocked out how horrible the Fujimi kit was. How about you PM to work a trade. Got an unbuilt 1/48 Hasegawa A-4SU kit. I opened it to look at it but all the parts are there. I feel I must save you from that Fujimi kit. :D
  11. Not sure where these pictures were taken of the two Kubelwagens http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php...20&start=30 Actually the one labeled Flak Regiment 22 seems to have been European only, including Russa if this site is correct - http://www.ww2.dk/ground/flak/flargt22.html Hope this helps. But if you are building a 1/24th scale Stuka, add a 1/24th scale Panzer 1 to make a diorama. :)
  12. Right now its 27F or -3C in Jackson, MS NWS/NOAA is predicting a good chance of freezing rain and sleet tommorow. I would kill for some global warming right now. My blood is too thin for all this cold stuff. And they are predicting a good chance of snow, making this like the 5th time this winter Jackson, MS has received this strange white stuff.
  13. So in other picture it had tanks stenciled with 075? Ok. It was worth a shot I guess. Wonder if you can file a Freedom of Information Act request on Military Assistance Program[MAP], Belgium, and A-4 Skyhawk evaluation? Or has that hit a brick wall? Failing that, yeah waiting on somoene to go "Oh I remember at Yuma those birds and those Belgium pilots." Good luck.
  14. Wow! Hack on one of the Fujimi kits. That is a labour of Hercules. Due to all the Monogram OA-4Ms I have, I have a few spare 1/48th Monogram cockpit tubs. Don't know if they will fit in a Fujimi kit though. I have been pondering an OA-4AR. Have the Condor A-4AR conversion kit and decals. What else will I do with those Monogram OA-4M kits since some of them were converted into OA-4ARs in real life.
