  1. Zach, She's a beautiful bird you built! Yes, you turned a nightmare of a build to a work of art! Excellent job! I was looking for a set of drop tanks for my Revell Tomcat, and you just answered my question. Thanks! Jason
  2. Looks to me you went out on the line to photograph an actual bird!!! Very very VERY REALISTIC! You got some skills sir!
  3. As Eric said above, Revell has pretty good customer service, and ships it's parts pretty fast. So whaddya do? hit the canopy jettison??? Well, despite the setback, "heartless" is looking really sweet! Cant wait to see the finished product! Jason
  4. Great idea Toad! Of course I can use a test piece to adjust the mixture as needed. I think that would work great! Thank you Toad!
  5. Hey all, Currently building an F-4C from the 12th TFW in Viet Nam SEA camo colors. Painting, clear gloss coat, and decaling are done. Problem is it looks like it JUST came out of the paint shop! I saw an F-4 model done somewhere where the paint and the decals had that perfectly faded look, like it sat out in the Viet Nam sun for a long time! I'm looking for a method of doing that, and was hoping someone knows a way, whether it's applying something to the clear flat to dirty up the plane, or some sort of wash I can apply. Thanks, Jason
  6. Excellent thread! Yes I have to agree! I enjoy going on this forums site quite often (maybe TOO often) to see what's up in the modelling world, to see everyone's excellent in-progress and completed builds, to seek advice and to receive excellent answers, and to help out as much as I can. Although some debates can get pretty heated and turn personal (which is the ONLY part of the forums I HATE) people here usually make amends. When I was unable to connect to the forums for a few months due to the IP address fiasco, I about had a breakdown!!! Love this site, and I see myself lurking around here
  7. BIG, BADA$$, and BEAUTIFUL!!! Didn't realize how big that jet is! She looks AWESOME!
  8. I sure am glad you continue to press on with your Tomcat. She is really looking great! Excellent details. I sure wish I had your patience!
  9. Hi all, I grew up doing modelling as a kid, but eventually the Navy and then family life took up most of my time. Just got back into it recently, and what fitting way to do it than building a model of my old squadron. The model is completely OOB, and I tried my hand at some scratch building, by dropping the flaps, slats, opening up the speed brakes, and converting the center drop tank into a buddy store. Plus this is my first model using airbrush. Eventually I would like to do all Carrier Air Wing Five aircraft. Sorry the pics aren't the best quality. ANY advice about how I can improve my mo
  10. Another masterpiece coming together! I don't know how, but just stumbled upon your build today. Must've missed it for I couldn't get on the forums for a couple of months, due to the infamous IP address snafu. Looking forward to seeing her come together!
  11. SUPERB JOB!!! Great detailing and weathering on such a beautiful aircraft and squadron, Mark! (I'm not at all biased!)
  12. AWESOME WORK!!! Love your weathering technique! Great job!!!
  13. Also as a Plane Captain, we'd send the newbies back to maintenance control to get the keys to the plane, or to get 10 feet of flight line.
  14. So sorry for your loss Vince. We put our beloved dog of 14 years down last July, and after reading your post, I got choked up. Having a faithful companion for all those years, they're really an important part of your life. Be strong, and always keep Noopy in your heart. Thinking of you and your family in this difficult time. Jason
  15. Hey Scott, AMS/H's all the way!!!
  16. Elmo, all I can say is your work is absolutely FLAWLESS!!! It's as if you took a real A-6 and shrunk it down! Many modellers including myself would give their firstborn to have your skills! Keep pushin on!!! Jason
  17. Great scratch building on the seat so far. Have fun on the build!
  18. Nice skills Linus!!! The cockpit is coming along nicely!
  19. Quite a few years ago, I used the regular testors tube glue on everything including the landing gear. When I thought the gear was set up on one particular model, it ended up doing the splits on me! I'll give the epoxy a go! Thanks all! Oh, hey Jesse, you're not counting the days to summer, are ya? I sure am!
  20. We couldn't be that lucky to get rid of this wannabe dumba$$
  21. I think your gears turned out GREAT! I love the wiring (plumbing) addition to it. Something I always wanted to try but afraid to do. Really liking your build so far!
  22. THanks for the help guys! Getting ready to put the landing gears on, so I want to make sure they stay on! Might try the medium CA. The thin seems too thin. It doesn't seem to fill some of the gaps.
  23. Can't wait for the finished product!!!
