  1. My two favourites are "Scale Aviation Modeller" & "Model Airplane International"
  2. airea, hi.. To minimize the sanding and to protect the immediate area, I put Tamiya tape either side of the gap to be filled. As for the thinning, hopefully someone can provide an answer to that one, I haven't tried it yet. regards.
  3. oops !! sorry Chuck1945.. I errored with your name in my post just then...... changed you from sounding all manly, to all girly
  4. urloony, Netz, Chick1945.. I really appreciate your responses and advice, many thanks. I will probably have a go at a light rubbing down rather than a complete removal, and I'll try spraying varnish too. Learning from mistakes is good, but you learn a lot quicker with forum help cheers Mark
  5. thx for replying urloony. Thing is though, the paint itself went down really well, no brush strokes visible at all. btw, I'm a noob modeller and trying both enamels and acrylics on cheapish kits to start with. It seems it's the varnish that is showing the brush strokes. I suspect I didn't have enough on the brush, and so it didn't settle well, if that makes sense? As I'm new to this, I don't know how to remove and start again :D If that's what I have to do, then I s'pose I'd better do that, but how? Do I need some sort of product that removes it? or is it "elbow-grease" that's required?
  6. hi all, I was real pleased with the finish I got from hand-brushing some Vallejo Model Color to the underside of a 1:72 Warhawk, but then went and b****red it up when I hand-brushed some Vallejo Satin varnish on top. I can see brush-marks. What are my options to fix this please? Do I have to rub it down? or remove the varnish somehow? Thanks
  7. I thought they were pics of the real thing as I scrolled down, and then came to posts that indicated it was a model. One's just gotta be impressed with a model of that realism. Outstanding.
  8. no doubt about it.. there are some bloody good modellers out there ! I now know hand painting can produce great results, but I also suspect it'll be a long time, if ever, that I'm able to match the quality as seen posted here :D
  9. TonyT , f-16 & Neo Many thanks, and thanks for the paint info... the stuff you guys do is quality.. very impressive. I have a LONG way to go but I know now that it's possible, or at least gives me something to aim for.
  10. Thankyou Han. I like your work and your models definitely have encouraged me to keep learning to brush paint
  11. hi guys inexperienced modeller here.. I'm starting out doing 1:72 scale and hand-painting. I'm quite enjoying trying different paints but of course not producing masterpieces exactly. I do have an airbrush and compressor but am keen to perservere with hand-painting at this stage. Would very much appreciate pics of models that are hand-painted only, so as to inspire me to see what can be achieved. I am impressed so far with Humbrol enamels and Revell aqua for hand-painting and I use flat brushes, but am curious what you better modellers use for paint and how the results turn out. Thanks for y
