  1. I'm looking forward to watching this build, ALF. Thanks for your service too!
  2. Hey guys/gals Any modelers on the forum into Battlefield 3 for PC? Look me up to play... Same screen name! Happy hunting! K
  3. Roger, thanks mawz. I too am going with the FS36327 over FS36375 scheme. I have a really newbie question, but you might be able to help me out. On the landing gear doors there is a red trim painted along the edge... would you mask and spray that? Or just hand paint it? I dont trust my hand painting skills enough to make a crisp line. Advice?
  4. Just awesome! Looks great, I am actually ever so slowly building this same kit, but im a newbie so there are no aftermarket decals and parts.. going with w/e i find in-box. Just wondering why you chose those colours rather than the light gray and medium gray?
  5. Thanks gents. I will keep an eye on your build as well Chuck, I've learned more than a thing or two flipping through your previous builds. Keep you posted about the windex coat. Thanks
  6. Also, Chuck, serious question, am I staring at your build in your sig, or is that an actual bird? I would not be surprised if that's your work. Your CF-18 is a thread I often reference!
  7. Thanks for those tips Chuck! I'll test them out tomorrow. I actually had the same follow up question as blunce, so thanks for clearing that up both of you. Must I re-apply a coat of future after windexing? or should that do the trick on its own? If I could get a high enough res picture I'd post a pic of what it looks like, but again the texture is so fine I dont beleive it would show on my cam. Anyone got a photo of a recently Futured surface ready for decals?
  8. Okay just an update... im pretty certain now that my future coat is going on slightly pebbley and its not just the paintjob. Its not highly noticeable... in fact I can only really notice it when i run my finger over it that it is not perfectly smooth... rather its surface is stippled. Again, hardly noticeable by the eye, but I can feel it and its not glossy smooth. Worried this will ruin my decal work... What am I doing wrong? Ive tried spraying at 15-20psi, just wetting the surface enough to stop before runs happen. thanks!
  9. Devilleader501, someone else might be able to articulate "silvering" better than me, but I would describe it as that white-silvery look around the clear portions of decals (happens after some time)as a result of it not being applied to a smooth glossy surface. dmk, I have very little experience with future, and MOST of the feedback has been leaning toward thinning. I tried applying it months ago unthinned and I had a difficult time keeping it from pooling and going on too heavy in spots. Ill admit, I cant be certain it wasnt due to my technique. bugs, ill try out your method but how do you k
  10. Hey thanks again for your comments, I just sprayed on some future that I thinned very slightly with windex.. about 10% as chuck noted. I had an easy time with it, but I think i put my coat on rather thin for fear of putting it on too thick and getting a runny mess in places. Im practicing on an old F-117 that Im simply trying to salvage as it was something I built when I was much younger and even MORE inexperienced than I currently am haha. My intent is to put some custom made decals on it (which Ive never done before) and I guess I wanna ask just how do you know when your future coat is go
  11. Hey thanks for all of your replies. I would have thought the consensus was no need to thin it... but I get the impression most of you do. I have the same question as Devilleader... my windex is blue... should I avoid using that? As far as masking, does the future make the tape edges all soggy and make a mess of my edges? Thanks
  12. Hello builders, I will be spraying future for the first time and I was hoping you could direct me to some good info for a begginer. I was curious about pressure, thinning, whether or not I should only shoot small sections or just cover large areas... any help would be wonderful. I should also mention I read through "The complete future" guide.. but didnt get much about spraying from it. Thanks in advance!
  13. Thanks you guys. Yeah I'll put in the extra effort and future the whole thing. Future is cheap anyways.
  14. Hello ARC community! Just a quick question. I have an old B-52 I made way back when I was younger and had no experience with decals. They've all since silvered (I applied them to a flat coat, live and learn ) and I'm working on refurbishing the model. I've scratched the silvered ones off and made new ones. Here's my question: Given the large size of the model, I dont want to coat the WHOLE bird in future, decal it, then have to flat coat the WHOLE thing again if I can get away with only applying future to the limited areas I will be applying decals, then flat coating the whole thing. Can I
