  1. Chaps, My suspicions confirmed, less is more. I was looking at the pictures in the DACO Navy phantoms and the SAM guide and they do seem very clean. From what I can tell it's mainly the underneath that gets that world weary look. Shame as I really like the shabby look. I may have to do a drone as they appear to get much more grimy. Thanks to all who replied. Jim
  2. Ok Chaps, Title says it all I hope.I have the Hasegawa F-4J at the stage of weathering and now realise I know little about the actual state this aircraft would likely be in. In general the gull grey/white seems to have less wear and tear than the later tps schemes. My question is how much grime is right? Also whereas corrosion control is a stand out on more modern schemes, what was the position in this era. Ive seen some war weary post-war cruise photos, but not sure that would be right for a cruise in the Med. TIA Jim
  3. Men, Due to my own ham fisted attempts at using the Eduard mesh set, I have managed to wreck both of the forward underside parts for this kit, so as I am making a late model Hornet I need part B 14 (Chippy Ho edition Part Number). The UK distributor is pants on this and as the kit is out of production, this is maybe my last shot. Will pay, trade etc I really cannot justify buying a second kit just to get this. Thanks in advance Jim

  5. I for one would be interested and if there was any scope for a legacy Hornet, that too.
  6. Hi there, I've tried and failed from their website and suggested dealers, anyone got a 1/32 Hornet chaff and flare set for sale? What I'm really interested in is actually the etched grill set for a late block Hornet, as the chaff set isn't needed for the plane I'm modelling ...although perhaps on reflection it may come in handy.. TIA Jim
  7. To the men that know... I'm in the middle of a 1/32 build using the Fightertown VFC-12 sheet F-18 sheet. I want to model either of the featued jets and have several internet images for Amubush 07, a Lot 14 Block 35 machine. I have a reasonable idea as to the featues of this jet, late style engines, bird slicers and revised cooling grills, but would appreciate any walkaround style pictures which anyone may have for weathering etc. TIA Jim
  8. Anders, Thanks for that, one in the post. This is build is going into aftermarket frenzy! Scott, I've read that the Aires -b and -a cockpit are virtually identical, so I'll go with the Trumpy designed pit and add the mods from references. Do either of you have any experience of the Waldron set, which seems to add a new dimension, albeit with the knobs/buttons to be added. I'm also slightly nervous about the intake issue from other threads here on ARC, but fixing that is way beyond my skills. Cheers for the input. Jim
  9. Probably been asked before, but has anyone tried fitting the Aires pit designed for the Tamiya kit into the Trumpy -B (I'm aware some mods will be needed a la Daco ref)? Plan is to use the Waldron 1/32 set and add to the Aires "stucture". I'm loath to spend £30 plus on the resin if its a complete non-starter. Any comments received with gratitude. Jim
