Thanks for the comments - I will definitely reach out to him and ask. i noticed that there are similar markings on later period QF-104 tails at the same location - sometime in the form of parallel stripes, always at a particular slant. Maybe this was some sort of visual aid to set the horizontal stabilizers at a specific angle before unmanned flight? Could this marking be just a stylized version to serve the same purpose? Then perhaps someone with aesthetic sensitivities just added it to the drop tank fins 🙂

Excellent C-130 and YA-10 today : I confess to not having built anything in the last 10 years but I am really enjoying it vicariously though this thread!

I really would like to include this one, but could not find a more detailed image or a color photo. There will have to be some guesswork. I think the motif at the top of the tail and drop tank fins is red and black. This copy from Wikipedia is somewhat dark, but there are better quality photos of the aircraft that clearly show the two colors here. I am not so sure about the "mission markings" on the front fuselage. But the first two seem to be AIM-9 silhouettes while the rest are probably Bomarcs - any ideas? Perhaps we can find some records from where we can glean the

No, no - not that Roadrunner; everyone knows who he is. Very cool, and I wonder what it will portend for the future of air defense & warfare.

The first RF-4C sheet is not too far away - I will enable preorders sometime next week and start shipping both 1/48 and 1/72 sheets a few days after that.

Almost done - I will wrap up the work this week and send these to be printed along with the Test & Drone F-104s and the tall-tail B-52A/F sheet (first in 1/144)

The 1/144 scale C-130 project (s) are on hold until the release date of the GWH 1/144 C-130 kit is a bit clearer. I would like to provide windshield decals that fit the kit.

I am still working on these and will gradually complete it over the course of this week.

The 1/72 version will take some time - the release pipeline is really very crowded in 2024. But I definitely will do it, my goal is to have a dedicated 1/72 sheet for each major US bomber type after B-29. The 1/144 scale B-36 sheet is about to sell out, by the way: I must have at most 10 copies remaining, and a reprint is not likely for at least a couple years or so.

CD72154 will be a 1/72 scale set for RF-8A/G Crusaders.

CD72153 will be a 1/72 set for US Navy COD Ospreys, designed for the Hasegawa kit.
