  1. I know for a fact that Turkish F-16 drag chutes are made in Turkey. There might have been a few "standard" drag chutes earlier, but I don't think there is such a thing as a worldwide standardized F-16 drag chute. There are multiple NATO stock numbers (NSN 1670-01-406-3309, NSN 1670-01-457-3562, etc.) for F-16 drag chutes, which leads me to believe that there are several designs that are manufactured by many different companies.

Should you want to do another Skyraider sheet...

    with a bit of whimsy....

I have looked everywhere for clearer photos of these when I was designing the sheet. I don’t think another Vietnam era Skyraider sheet is in the cards, but this would have been a great addition.

At this point, I will call this a ‘what-if’ build. A lot of mistakes were shamelessly made as fellow modelers here and elsewhere highlighted the differences between F-104 vs CF-104s along the way 🙂  It actually does make for a more enjoyable build. Off the top of my head: The MB seat should have been the Lockheed C2,

Not really - you have used the correct ejection seat. By the time the CF-104s were repainted in the Turkish camouflage scheme in the early 1990s, all of the fleet had already been equipped with the MB seats that were removed from the F-104Gs that were retired earlier. There were no Turkish CF-104s still flying with the Lockheed seat after approx. 1992 or so. Excellent build!!

  4. Thanks for the huge interest in this sheet - sold a bunch in the first few hours.

I have already received several e-mails roasting me for erroneously calling these "NASA NF-104s", so no need to send me another one: put that keyboard away and enjoy the anticipation. 🙂 Thanks again!

  5. Thanks for opening the thread before I did it - I really like how proactive our community is : ). Unfortunately my latest batch of decals I planned for February are still being printed in your beautiful country, so my March releases are what I promised for February earlier. I will soon announce the next batch of decals I will be releasing in April (if everything goes according to plan)

While I cannot sit here and say I would not like some new Phantom decal sheets because I will certainly buy them, I would like to ask that several decal sets which have been in the cue for a long time be completed first. Ones that come to mind would be like the following:

CD 48095: F-4E Phantoms over Anatolia

    CD 48114: A-37 Dragonfly / T-37 Tweet

CD 48129: UH-1 "Huey" in Vietnam

CD 48159: Air National Guard F-84F

CD 48188: Air National Guard P-47

    CD 48195: PACAF F-16C/D Vipers

CD 48220: B-57 Canberra in Vietnam

    CD 48222: OV-10D Bronco

    CD 48224: S-3A Viking

These are all in the production queue in various stages: some have been stalled because of a research gap (UH-1, P-47) or I have to work on the layout (B-57, OV-10D etc.). But I plan to release at least half of this list in 2024.

The Zoukei-Mura late model F-4E is up for preorder.  Might be a good time for an F-4E sheet.  I would like to take this time to suggest NJ ANG F-4E’s from the 141st TFS, 108th TFW with the fantastic tiger art on the nose.  There were multiple versions of the tiger art on mulitple aircraft.  Maybe even enough for its own sheet.  I have a ton of slides of aircraft from this unit.  Let me know and I can bury you in reference!  🙂

let’s do this - bring it on! You know the email addy.

Here’s a question. Are you considering a Part 2 to your 1/48 RF-4C?  Hopefully the Desert Storm or late 80s/90s Grey Hill Scheme?

Yes but not so soon after the first part - it will be coming sometime in the second half of the year.

  9. Excellent Phantom! Always great to see these colorful Edwards jets.

Thanks for the kind comments. I have another Caracal decaled, J79 powered bird almost done. 🙂

Looking forward to seeing it! I hope it has four of those J79s.

  10. Mostly done - I need to do some color corrections and add a couple of small markings, and will send it to be printed next week. 18 options on this one. There is a second, all-black sheet with wing walkways and some other black markings. Also some structural details to improve the Minicraft kit.

With large period-accurate unit markings and a lot of variety, the 1/72 version of this would look great on the Monogram kit. It will take some more work though, and will be coming in the next couple of months.
