Well the rebels have captured Ajdabiya.....which is a town 90 miles south of Banghazi. I would think a tank out in the open country is an easy target for allied aircraft and a tank in the city is vunerable to rebels with RPG's especially if fired from rooftops of buildings.

Here's 2 theories I've heard....can't say I agree with either of them.....but they are interesting to ponder..... --Current militaries are fueled by oil...jet fuel etc. So it is in the best interest of the USA to make sure the US is the last country on the planet with oil when the oil does run out. --Why should the US sell at oil at this level when it will be worth more in the future.......it is an appreciating resource. I think drilling for oil in Alaska is a great idea if it will move us to the point of importing less oil. But you know what they say.....if you want to power your house

This war in Libya has a shelf life in weeks/months...not years.....the rebels will have to wrap this up soon if they want to be successful. If the Libyans want to rid themselves of this guy, they had best get a move on. Passing this off to the French and British and Italians etc as soon as possible will be the way to go.....let them figure it out.

I suspect Gadaffi wishes it was only 18. Yup it was much more than 18.....a 3 storey building in Kadaffi's compound was destroyed with cruise misslies this past night....and that wasn't part of the original 122 on the first night.....plus the Brits fired off 2 of them from their submarine on the first night. There were Gadaffi supporters acting as human shields 50 yards from that 3 storey building when it was destroyed. No one was killed........that sort of accuracy is impressive by any measure and well worth the money.

A French Air force Rafale jet has targeted a gound vehicle. The French seem to have regime change as their goal. I suspect all countries involved privately have regime change as their eventual goal.....but they aren't saying that publically. The big hope is that a coup d'etat will happen and thus leading to the end of the regime before too much military action. Supply lines will be cut and the Libyan army will wither without supplies......it's wide open desert country.

According to CNN.....the UK, France and Canada will be flying the first combat sorties.

Gadaffi actively supported terrorism including the downing of the Pan Am jet over Lockerbie. That makes him vastly different from Egypt. The main priority has been to get westerners out of Libya to avoid a hostage situation. Now the goal is to get all foreign nationals out of Libya to permit the Libyans to sort this out on their own. I'm a bit curious why these US servicemen were flying into Frankfurt and then traveling by bus to Ramstein.....instead of just being flown on a USAF plane directly from the UK to Ramstein. Wouldn't it make better security to have US Military personnel loaded on USAF aircraft by USAF ground crew etc in secured airbases? Or is Ramstein no longer a US airbase? Israel had problems of bombers setting off their bombs in shopping malls.......so they set up security at all mall entrances to check everyone before they entered the mall. This could be done at airports.....but then these bombers would just set off their bombs in the line-up outside the airport with all the people waiting to go through security....thus achieving their goal of killing people and getting on the news and terrorizing the vast population that would see the news story. I think there are a few things that might put this into perspective. The Chinese suffered horribly at the hands of the Japanese during WW2. Whether this new jet is better than the F-22 is not important as I doubt the US will ever get in a shooting war with China. I think for most people that aren't active in IPMS contests.....the defination of OOB and OOTB is pretty well what ever they think it is. Sure you can quote the IPMS defination to your grave.....but that is of little interest to guys that don't enter IPMS contests. I know my definition of OOB was different from IPMS.....but that's not a big deal to me as I do not choose to enter my models in a competition....I build for my own pleasure.
