  1. Hi all, I thought I should post something here as nothing has been added in over a year... I have finally completed my modified nacelles for the 1/48 Monogram kit. As we all know, the kit parts are too short and have the B-1A lumps on them. As you can see my nacelles are longer and don't have the lumps. I have made them to fit the Eduard exhausts or the kit parts, in my opinion the CE exhausts are too small. I have a set and don't like them... Here is a shot of the standard kit parts. Note how close the afterburner is to the exhaust opening... Here's my parts.. deeper and with some
  2. Hey Chris, Is the UB kit still available? I could also be interested in the Su-27 upgrade set? I will have almost every part you make if I buy these sets!! Regards Nige
  3. Here's the evidence that it actually exists!! Along with a 1/32 P-61 and Skyraider. http://happy.ap.teacup.com/applet/runchickens/20121011/archive That truck looks nice too!! Nige
  4. Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me out?? I am trying hard to find some pictures of the bulkheads behind the pilots seats in the F-105G. All the kits appear to have solid bulkheads, but in some shots it would appear that there are large openings around the seats headrests. If anyone has pics of these areas, looking front to back, I'd be grateful if you could post them here or in the parking lot. Thanks in anticipation Nige
  5. Well, no one replied, so I worked from photo's Here's a first shot for starters.. On the right is the standard kit engine nacelle, on the left is my mocked up mod. Another angle.. And another... Front on... Obviously there is more work to do, and I'm not sure I have the profile right yet?? Please let me know what you think, and please critisize if neccessary. I'm open to all suggestions, and if you want to send me some drawings, I won't tell... Regards
  6. Hi everyone, I've searched for information and in progress builds on the C-130 and am impressed with the amount of information there is on this site. I've noticed there a lot of guys on here who actually work on Herky's, I wonder if I can ask a favour.... I want to correct the engines on a 1/48 C-130J, then make some resin copies for the other three. I cannot find any drawings on the net, and am finding it extremely difficult to scale them from other parts of the aircraft. The favour I would like to ask is for someone to take some direct side on and front on pictures of the engine with cowl
  7. Thanks Dave, I also have the CE cans, but am convinced they're too small. there doesn't seem to be a firm conclusion on this subject, even though it's been covered a million times!! The Eduard appears to be correct when scaled down in pictures. It's certainly much bigger than the CE version. Perhaps someone could actually measure the diameter of the nozzle on the real thing, so a scale comparison could be done. Nige
  8. Thankyou Mike, there's a lot of work in them there intakes. The mould is currently curing, and should be ready to pop in 12 hours. Then it's casting time.... we'll have to wait and see how that goes?? Regards Nige
  9. There no longer seems to be much interest in this thread?? I've been toying with methods of making the Eduard turkey feathers, and think I'm getting there now?? I've made two, and the second is a million times better than the first. The other part that's been annoying me on the kit is the short and mis-shapen cowling leading up to the turkey feathers. I've made a master, and intend to cast a set in resin now. What do you think? It will be a direct replacement for the kit parts. I'll need to sort out the APU area also... This will also form the jet pipe, so the kit part with etch burner r
  10. Hi all, I've made a mess!! This is the first, almost finished nozzle I've made. As you can see, I'm new to soldering PE, and have probably not picked the best subject to learn on?? The jig is turned down from a piece of PTFE. Extremely slippery and heat resistant. Here's how it looks slotted into the kit engine cover. I think I'm gonna change the build sequence on my next one, and solder all the outer fittings onto the flat sheet before it's rolled up? I've ordered a fresh set, so this set can be used up on practice. Thanks for stopping by. Nige
  11. Thanks for your replies Guys. You guessed right, this isn't prepainted etch. I was using a white paste type flux, and have bought some red acid flux from my LHS. It seems to work better. I think it may be down to my technique more than my materials, but I am struggling?? I guess those Bone exhausts are pretty complex for soldering!! Still, I have four exhausts to practice on, I can always buy a fresh set if all goes wrong!! Thanks again for your advice. Nige
  12. Hi all, I'm currently working on a set of exhausts for my 1/48 B-1 bomber. I like to use solder as much as possible with PE, but the nickel silver plating on Eduard Etch makes it difficult. Does anyone know how it can be removed without damaging the brass underneath? Sanding it off is a little labourious!! Thanks for any replies.....
  13. Well, my intakes are finally getting there. I've added what I hope will be the final layer of mr srfacer to a couple of suspect areas. I'm going to make some new rear shrouds for the exhausts on my Lathe, but I have made a couple of observations and have read some comments written on here.... I have the Eduard nozzles and the CE resin ones. The CE ones are tiny in comparison to the Eduard ones. Does anyone know which is correct?? I'm not trying to re-open a can of worms here, I'm just trying to get an answer to the question, "Which is correct". We KNOW the kit exhausts are wrong, we KN
  14. Just to say, I bought these off Steve. Steve is one great guy!! I recieved my cans in about 4 days, perfectly packaged and at a very reasonable price. I would recommend him to anyone wanting great service on a range of resin parts!!! Thanks Steve Nige
  15. Hello Dave, I wasn't aware there was an issue until I compared the kit parts with the Daco book. I think Revell have simply rounded everything off too much, hardly noticeable, until you look closely. I wish I hadn't looked too closely!! I look forward to seeing your GB come together.... Nige
