  1. Finally the engine nozzle temporarily taped in place. Looking at pics I am suspicious that this may be too small in diameter. There is quite a large gap around it that will require some work to prevent seeing into the fuselage.

That's ok. Just wait for Aires to come out with an AM nozzle and when they make it the wrong size (like most of their other nozzles) it should fit pretty well, right?

  2. Hi guys. Here's my latest build. Its the 1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18E with the Royal Maces markings (circa 2008).

    Stuff I used:

    • Afterburner decals
    • True Details ejection seat
    • GBU-24s and AGM-65 from Hasegawa weapons sets
    • GBU-38s and AGM-65 rail from Wolfpack resin
    • AIM-9Xs from a Tamiya F-16 kit

I rescribed all the panel lines and gave it a panel line wash although I kinda wish I hadn't cause I think the panel line wash makes it look a little unrealistic.

    Anyway, hope you like it!

  3. Here's a tip:

Next time you get a decal sheet that has the yellow curved decals for bomb stripes scan it into your computer. Then you can print out that sheet and presto...you have a mask template that you can use to cut out your own stripes. Paint the bomb yellow first then apply the masks.

You could also use use drafters templates with the elliptical edges to get some curved masks.

Depending on how round/bulged the bombs are straight masks work just fine if cut thin...like Mk 82s for example. Those big round WWII bombs would need the curved masks.

  4. This is a nice build. It looks great.

Since you asked I'll point out a couple of things. Please don't take this as a slam against your nice work.

    1. It looks like you might have attached the outer smaller pylons on the wrong sides. They should angle outward from the plane at 4 degrees. It might just be the photo but it looks like yours are angled inwards.

    2. This is minor but there should be a little bit of grey around all sides of the anti slip areas on the LEXs.

    3. The two small rectangles on the left LEX should be darkened. You could fix that very easily.

    4. I could be wrong about this but I think the dark grey grills on the wings where the wing fold hinges are shouldn't be there on the Growler. Hasegawa didn't catch this detail if my memory serves me correctly. I'm not 100% sure on this one, though.

    5. The dark grey vents under the nose in front of the nose wheel well aren't there on the Growler. Those are purge vents for the gun gasses but since the Growler doesn't have a gun...

    6. The exhaust nozzles on the Superhornets are dark on the inside. The legacy hornets are light on the inside.

These are nit-picky observations, of course.

  5. As we were getting ready to descend into DFW yesterday I was looking out of the window and caught a glint off of another plane above us and was able to zoom in with the camera. Looks blue and white but I can't make out the livery. Anyone have an idea? We were still high, just starting down from 37K just a few moments before but I don't know the actual altitude.

    Its an Allegiant MD-82.

  6. Hi You were asking about the United 1980s saul Bass Livery for the DC10 , i have just finished doing the DC10-30

    Awsome! Looks really good.

What about the 1980's/1990's British Airways with the light grey topside and the dark blue underside? I think the 747 for sure and maybe the L-1011, DC-10 or the 767? I think that was one of the nicest paint schemes ever. And since you're from the UK...
