I would love to see a 1/48 styrene Firefox. But it wold have to be good...not some half *** attempt at making it look reasonably close. There was some guy over on the HobbyTalk forums that made an excellent CAD model of the Firefox. Revell needs to buy the model from him and start there.

Awesome work!

I bought the 1/48 templates about 2 or 3 years ago and I got 4 sections.

Just airbrush some lighter grey on the treads.

That Novus is awesome stuff, isn't it? I just polished an Italeri F-16 canopy and used my new Dremel to apply the Novus. I set it next to a Tamiya F-16 Canopy that I dipped in Future and I can't tell the difference. No more dipping in Future for me.

And don't worry if you end up sanding off some of the raised frame detail. You won't sand all of it off and as long as you have some to use as a masking guide you'll never even notice it after you paint it.

I typically scrape the seam lightly with a #11 blade then use polishing cloths from 3200 down to 12000. I usually just go back and forth or from front to back. Then I polish it out with Novus #2 and #1. I polish the Novus in a circular direction. Canopies come out crystal clear.

Cool! I've got one in the stash and I agree...it looks like a YF-23. The exhausts turned out great!

Ol Crew Dog, great info! Thanks for sharing!

Which markings are they? You might be able to buy the same markings from an AM source like Twobobs or Furball for example. Hase decals are large and think anyway so going with AM decals can be a better choice.

Excellent!

Excellent stuff! I've got a few of those in my stash. Hopefully mine turn out as well.

I think that Olimp is the only game in town...which isn't good news. But at least the OOB exhausts aren't bad. What we really need is Shull24 to come out with some Superhornet cans. I've used his resin can for the F-2A and it was awesome!

Thanks guys! I held the part in some almost boiling water and it corrected itself.

Very helpful Shark! Thanks!

Thanks! I wanted to hear from somebody who had done it before I tried it on my own.Yes. I have put resin in boiling water many times with no problems. Once the part is softer with the heat of the water, carefully bend it back into shape and then clamp it or put weight on it while it cools.

Manstein's Revenge was the worst offender. He wasn't part of the wrong crowd...he was the wrong crowd. He stunk the joint up really bad. Getting rid of him was the best thing FSM could have done...other than giving him a good ol' fashioned blanket party which he desperately needs.whether you liked Manny or not, he was one heck of a modeler. Did armor and aircraft (don't remember any boats), and all were near perfect. When Manny first posted on FSM, he pointed out some errors in builds, and some people took offense to it. He then posted several of his builds, and that was the end of that. Now I for one always missed seeing his builds after I flew the coop. Somebody said he posts over on Swanny's site, but I rarely go over there due to time alone. Even then, it's to gain some information (he's a great guy). I wish there was a way we could lure Stan back over here. Think he went by the name of Phoenix. This guy was a wealth of knowledge about 109's and most all WWII aircraft. He and Hans+ a couple others tangled over a Fujimi build he did, just to show what could be done. Too much drama over there for me.
gary
I don't care if he builds nice 109s or not. He was an A$$. He was more divisive than helpful and had a real attitude problem. I would rather have weaker modelers who are pleasant to interact with than a good modeler who's a jerk to everybody.
And not everybody thinks he's a great builder just so you know. I see builds here at ARC that are better than his all the time.

Hi guys. I have a resin part...an LAU-115 missile launch rail that has a very slight bow to it. Can this be corrected?
Can you dip it into hot water an bend it back like you can with styrene parts? Or can I put something heavy on it and use a sort of long term pressure?
Thanks for any advise.

FSM did do something to get rid of the "hostiles" in their forums. I don't know if it was a ban or if it was some kind of warning but the "clique" that people keep talking about is definitely gone now.
There were 3 or 4 guys who were the main instigators and their accounts have been deleted. And good riddance! They really stunk up the place. But unfortunately several of the "good guys" left because they had had enough.

Nice! Great work on the camo!

You won't spend a lot of time on this kit considering that seam filling, cleanup, etc. isn't a major issue. These kits practically fall together. And you'll find that after you put together all the little sub assemblies that the plastic will start to disappear pretty quickly.
I would recommend getting some AM decals, though. Tamyia decals are very thick and don't play well with decal softeners.

Very cool!

Great work!

This is a great thread! Coincidentally I have been doing alot more cardio with the intention of trying to trim up. I have been doing the Insanity workouts, some at home ab stuff on the swiss ball and alot of running.
During the first 4 weeks of Insanity I basically stayed at 204 lbs. During the 5th week I cut out all fatty foods and have been eating nothing but veggies and fruits. In that 5th week I went from 204 lbs to 196 lbs! (I'm 6'2" BTW)
And I'm not starving myself or doing anything unhealthy. I just eat things like carrots and celery instead of chips or junk food.

Nicely done! You'll have to show us how you installed the LEDs. They turned out great!
