  1. Right, because Boeing painted their birds for them at the factory. They hadn't had time to repaint them to "operational" colors prior to all the photos being taken. John
  2. No, it's not. The Bullet's jets do not have the rudders painted and the stripes are limited to the first half of the vert-stabilizer. Boeing painted the jets originally, which is also why, for a while anyway, they had two CAG--High-Viz birds. Check the link below for a picture from my flight with them last week. http://community.webshots.com/photo/372354...372607708gHBqne John
  3. No problem, glad you guys are enjoying them. John, thanks for the good advice. It is greatly appreciated. Stay tuned for more pics and the video...once I get to a faster conxshun John
  4. Self...the Bullets had 2 Mids of thier own, but the VAQ guys were Midless. So, I went around after the first day of CQ's and put in the word that I was looking for rides...gave them my upchit and quals sheets, got seat briefs and got up after they qualed and gave their two (way dorky) Mids rides first. Thanks again, John P.S. Shogun and 116 seemed busy and so I didn't bother after the initial encounter. No worries. I had a hell of a time.
  5. Couple of hours...ya, five wet = plenty of play time. We did some dry runs with a KC-10 and gave some gas to CAG...he's the pilot of the other Bullet's bird in the photos. We dumped a lot on the way down, though. John
  6. 73.8 MB Ya, if you don't mind. What do I do? Thanks, John
  7. Good to be back. 12 days on the USS Abraham Lincoln...went out there with HS-2 as part of my midshipman summer cruise. Got hops in a Prowler, Rhino, and of course, the HH-60H. Got to shoot a .50 cal from a moving helo...you haven't lived until you have shot a machine gun from a helicopter!!! Kick in the pants! That's all I can say about getting shot off an aircraft carrier. Below is a link to just a few of the many, many pictures I took while I was out there. I will post more in a week or so once the connection is non dial up. http://community.webshots.com/user/jai5w4 I put toge
  8. Just wanted to check in while the internet is working (by the grace of God) here on the boat. Got tons of pics I will be posting when I get back later this month. They include; Helo Flight around San Diego and Imperial Beach Many, many pics from flight ops here on the Abe Lincoln Pics from the Prowler ride (just got back) and pics from my upcoming Super Hornet ride with the Bullets Pretty cool to see how they actually do it out here. It's another world above and below the marine layer and from shore to the boat. Later, John P.S. I am also planning a video inspired by the "Figh
  9. Sponge, Right on. I plan on being present as much as possible around the squadron without becoming an annoyance (this is a big fear of mine b/c I am very interested in all things Navy Air). I think it'll be a good experience and I look forward to maybe getting a few flights. Thanks for the advice, as always. John :(
  10. Right, I know about the kit. I was trying to avoid having to drop the cash for it/hunt down a cheap one somebody's got for sale. Oh well. John
  11. lol Yep. Sorry, thought you knew. Going to Tinker AFB, OK. Doing a cruise with the STRATCOM Wing 1 (E-6B's) from 31May-24June. Wasn't too stoked at first, but everything happens for a reason. I just would have really prefered a beach location instead of a hot peice of the OK plains for my down time. Oh, well. My buddy is heading out your way. He got E-2's, but I'm not sure with whom. Look for udates of photos throughout the summer as I take em. Got any advice for summer cruise? Later, John
  12. Is there a kit out there in either 1/48 or 1/35 that already has the parts for a NTS bird or do you have to buy a conversion kit for either? I really want to build one of these birds in their latest version, but not a zulu bird. Thanks, John
  13. Nice!!! Been working on them all equally...or one at a time? Keep it up and keep us updated! John B)
  14. Excellent specimen! All the clear parts are especially clear and look great! Nice weathering as well. John
  15. I was wondering the same thing. I've got a half completed one with the black box update kit on it and I want to get her done this summer. It's a great little helicopter, but I need some decals. ~John
  16. Thanks, I bought the brush used and it did not come with a hose or connectors. What kind of hose should i buy? Does the inline moisture trap come in the hose, or is it a seperate part? Thanks again, ~John
  17. I have an airbrush, but i don't want to buy a small compressor for it...college budget doesn't allow it. Anyhoo. Is it okay to run my Aztek off the garage compressor? Do I need to do anything special, like set the pressure to a certain amount? Do I need a connector for my hose to connect it to the compressor...something like a reducer or enlarger...I'm a nugget with this airbrush stuff. Lemme know. Thanks, John
  18. I just bought a well-used Aztek airbrush, the one that comes in the nice wood case. Anyway, it didn't come with the jars or a hose. Which hose do I need to get going, and is a universal size, or is it specifically made for aztek. What do I need to hook it up to a compressor, any kind of reducer or conector? And should I use the jars, or should I use the paint cups? I am an airbrush rookie, so any tips would be great. Thanks, John.
  19. I agree. It's not super hard. I am building this same aircraft. You just study the photos of the plane, check out where the panel lines and paint match up and mask a couple of lines that match the real plane's paint lines. No worries.
