Chippy 404 on launch. -John
-
The Chippies (VFA-195) will be picking up new rhinos soon. I'm hearing the "Chippy Ho" scheme will be intensely toned down, however. -J

This was making the rounds today at work. ...and we were worried about a little nose art on OUR CAG bird. -John

What word on this Hasegawa kit?
-
Done with stage one. More details and 'additions' to come. -John

Getting the new 600 ready for Cherry Blossom this weekend. Several major additions to come AFTER the festival, but the general layout will be down. -John

I'm sure there are more out there...somewhere. But this is the only one I've ever seen. HTH, John

Any more updates? -John

Actually in early 2010, 192 will be leaving CAG-5 altogether and heading home to California. We'll be getting VFA-115 for the swap, making for two '115' squadrons on the GW and three Rhino squadrons. -John **Edit: I misspoke; it's 192, the Golden Dragons swapping w/ 115. The Chippy's will be the lone legacy squadron in the air wing.**

Will it come w/ the NP2000 props?

"Halo, ball" is getting a lot of love from the JOs. "Tracker, ball" as a throwback to the olden days. -John

With the arrival of the E-2D in a couple years, the higher-ups have asked what the community would like to refer to the plane as while talking on the radio at the boat. The Super Hornet has "Rhino", the regular Hawkeye has "Hawkeye", etc. The new version of the E-2 is apparently different enough in landing speed/weight/characteristics that it will require a separate name for use around the carrier landing pattern so as to avoid confusion with E-2Cs while talking on the radio. The Growler went through a similar competition about a year ago as I recall. So what do you all think? Any suggest

That's CAG Myers rocking the new nose art during the fly-off the other day. Did a double take when I saw the mouth from the tower. It wasn't there the day before! Cheers, -John

Sweet. Thanks, Dave. -
It is indeed one of the oldest that I know of. I guess that means I'm out of luck with the 'new box art' G version then. Thanks for your help. -John
-
Thanks for the reply, Dave. I think they were available on the OLD 'G' kit as well, no? They are on it's box art anyway.

Still looking for either the kit, the resin sets, or both. -
So this one wouldn't have the new sprue?
-
Wondering if any of the 'G' series got the new sprue (with composite rotors, etc) attached with them and how does one tell without opening the box? Cheers, -John

Really fine job so far. Probably my all-time favorite Tomcat/Rhino scheme. Looking forward to seeing it finished. -John

I think it might just be flash on the part halves. -John
