  1. Wolfman-63 Will be following your build with great interest as I have their SB2U-3 on my current to build list. Your cockpit really looks quite good. Joel
  2. Janne, If it was my build, in two weeks time, I'd have almost gotten the pit done at best. Joel
  3. 11Bee, I'll be joining you on your build. The Corsair is a favorite of mine, although I've only build the Tamiya -1 & -1A in 1/48th scale. Your theory for detailing only what can be seen, and then the degree depends on it's visibility when the model is finished, certainly parallels mine. Very nice start to the cockpit. I do like how you added the hydraulic lines. They area really looks just busy enough to fools the viewers eye. Joel
  4. Janne, Whether it's a simpler but, all that matters is what's on the table. And so far, you've got yourself another winner. Joel
  5. John, Looking spectacular to this old prop & car guy. Joel
  6. Janne, I finally remembered what your Me 262 build reminds me of in terms of getting a contest model completed: Your F-111 build. And as I recall, you did rather well with it. Joel
  7. Janne, Decaling looks great. From the little I know about Me262s, they really took a beating out in the field. Restores aircraft look brand new. So the decision is really up to you as to the type of aircraft you want to display. Joel
  8. Ben, No problems. So glad to have you along for the ride. the CEO of Ebbro was the head of the auto model div at Tamiya. Not sure exactly how all of this transpired, but he went out on his own with Tamiya as he major backer. I'm sure that they get a lot more help then just financial from them. So far I'm more then impressed with the kit as I finished the drivers tub and the front suspension clip. Talk about complex! The car has inboard front and rear brakes. I really had my concerns about how the front wheels would properly align as the discs attach to the suspension in
  9. Vern, There are some colors and types of Alcad that you shouldn't mask over, but most such as Flat Aluminum (which I use 90% of the time), you can mask over without any issues. I mask with detacked Tamiya tape only. I believe that the Alcad site has a full listing of the can and shouldn't mask colors. Joel
  10. Slartibartfast, Yep, Walker was basically my only resource for F1 news. The lag time if I remember correctly was like 3 months. The South African F1GP was run in January, and his report usually appeared in the March issue. But better then nothing. That eventually changed a few years later when I started to drive, and found a import car parts store ( I owned a 1967 MGB back then) that carried Chris Economaki's National Speed & Sport weekly newspaper. Joel
  11. Janne, The finished camo scheme looks great. Joel
  12. Janne, I'm really impressed with your Black Basing. The results once the basic color coats went on really have that random fading & weathering effect. As for your Camo scheme, I'd say that your reacquaintance with your Micron-B was well worth the effort. Joel
  13. Ernie, That's some nice engineering for sure. Joel
  14. Bro, I've got complete confidence in you to find another decaling issue. Bro
  15. Bro, The tail looks great with the decals on. All those so called issues with the Cartograf decals are long gone. Bro
  16. Startibartfast, Thanks for checking out my start. Just got in the mail today two more Ebbro Lotus kits: Another Lotus 49 DVF, and the Lotus 49B with the option for either a high or low rear wing. I ordered Rob Walker decals from Indy Cal for the 49B. Joel
  17. Bro, The back of the IP will be under the cowling. Look at my signature picture. The IP should be just where the clear plexi wraps around. As for the radiators, I'm going to be adding the water hoses to each of them. Bro
  18. Well, finally it's time for my 1st update. Just like with aircraft, I like to start my builds with the drivers tub even though it starts as step #3. Ebbro has molded all the parts in either Black or a Metallic Gray that does look pretty good, and nice match for Flat Aluminum. This will come in handy for some small parts that are buried deep in the suspension or engine/transmission, where they will be almost to completely be unseen. The chassis consists of the bottom plate of the monocoque frame with the tub. The tub is basically one piece with an insert for the shift level a
  19. Stevehnz, Same here. Lotus was always at the front of the curve, and produced some of the fastest and most beautiful F1 cars of the time. The 88 and 88B were two examples that pushed the rules to far, and the other teams got them banned. Kind of like the Chaparral 2J car from the Can Am series that literally sucked the car to the ground; Joel
  20. Ernie, the interior looks fantastic. Joel
  21. Bro just a lucky guess I might need it down the road. Bro
  22. John, The Nose Gear Jack looks really quite good. Can't wait to see it once it's done. Joel
  23. Carlos, Your build is just taking on a life of it's own. I've never seen a Corsair build come close to this amount and type of intricate detailing. Truly amazing. Looking forward to your next update. Joel
  24. Dave, What a project for such a great cause. I'll be following your builds to completion. This should be some kind of record for sure. Joel
