  1. Janne, Personally, I'd glue on as much as I can before I paint. I'm always concerned about the once perfect dry fit is no longer perfect due to paint build up. Also, getting some excess glue where it doesn't belong, and worse, it shows up like a sore thumb. Joel
  2. Bro, And I've already got the Zero Black Paint on the shelf. Bro
  3. Capt. Obvious, I'm thrilled that you want to join us on my adventure into the world of Lotus cars. Lotus is my number 1 formula 1 mark, and I'm planning on concentrating on that make till I've got them all built. One deviation will be when I can do a private entry of Team Rob Walker ( owner of Walker Red & Black Label Scotch) with Jo Siffert behind the wheel, I will indulge myself. Joel
  4. Dekon70, Thanks so much for your most positive comment, it's greatly appreciated. Joel
  5. Bro, Nice save. Just one question, why is your smiley face upside down? Bro
  6. Just thought I'd start my build thread on my current build, the Ebbro 1/20 scale JPS Lotus Type 72E of Emmo Fittipaldi that he drove to a win at the 1973 Spanish F1GP. If all goes according to plan, I'll have my 1st real update late this coming week. Joel
  7. Janne, Looks great, as you work is up to your usual high standards. I'm still amazed at how fast you're going through this build. Following builds like yours and my brother is keeping my aircraft modeling Mojo up as I'm planning on building a PBY-5A after the Lotus Type 72E crosses the finish line, but compared to you, I work at a true snail's pace. Joel
  8. Chris, The big Cat should look great with those spinning prop faces. Joel
  9. Bro, The ends certainly justify the means, and your Harrier is really looking quite good. Why on Earth after all these mega years of building models, and never following the instructions except for the Tamiya 1/32 scale props, would you opt to follow Hasegawa's instructions now? At least your finally where you should be. As for the liquid mask I ordered the Sol R rather then the Neo. The only difference that I could find for the double of the price, is the Sol R can be trimmed and cut, while the Neo really can't be trimmed with a knife. Bro
  10. John, The level of detailing just continues to get better and better. Joel
  11. Janne, not only are you still detailing as needed, but it sure seems like record breaking time. Nice effort on the landing gear as well as the gun bay. Joel
  12. Capt. Obvious, Just a great decaling job. I still remember being worn out from what seemed like a few hundred stencils for my F-4B. I'm really impressed that you made your own decals to correct the incorrect kit ones. Now that's pretty impressive. Joel
  13. Capt. Obvious, The detail painting is just like we do with Aircraft. Of course my less then steady hands and poor eye sight makes it a real challenge. Joel
  14. Thanks Capt. Obvious for those most kind words. One lucky finish doesn't make me proficient at it as yet, but I'm working on it. Joel
  15. Janne, That's certainly the truth over these last several years. Joel
  16. John, I also just found your build, and I'm truly amazed at your knowledge, and detailing skills to create your exceptional P-36A. it's quite a treat to follow along and learn from a true master. Joel
  17. Welcome back. the engine & pit really came out quite nice. But I do have to admit that when I heard no air brushing, I was somewhat concerned. But the rattle can spray painting came out looking perfect. Looking forward to your next update. Joel
  18. Janne, Holy smokes!! A full contest build in less then 30 days. Should prove to be very interesting. The Pit really came out looking quite good, especially the IP. Gotta be honest with my buddy as I'm not sold on the Seatbelts and harness concept. When viewed it looks just too flat with no real definition of depth. How will the judges interpret that finish concept? Joel
  19. Giiovanni, Great job on those plates. Joel
  20. Chris, She's really looking quite good. Love that head on shot. Joel
  21. Ben, Thanks for the info. I did find it on the SB site, and of course if I wanted it, it's almost always out of stock. To my surprise they still carry Tamiya White Primer, so I bought two bottles. Joel
  22. Ben, She looks great crossing the finish line. All my primers are some shade of Gray. I prefer not to have to decant the Tamiya white primer, so your Mr. Base White is of interest to me. Is it paint or primer, and where can I buy it? Joel
  23. Ben, All the so called lacquer based paints are technically Acrylic Lacquers. the key is a good primer coat. The Porsche is 100% acrylic lacquers without any issues including two different manufactures clears. Joel
  24. Ben, Those Goodyear Eagles really look good. I used Indy Cal decals for the Firestone markings on the 917K. The only time I still use Pledge is for hand brushing on a heavy coat on the rubberized tire surface, when dry a quick lite sanding with 1,000 or 1,200, then the decals using the Micro system plus Solvaset. Once dry another heavy coat of Pledge as it does indeed self level. Once dry 1,200 & finally 3,000. This way I never had to re-scuff the tire surface. the Front suspension looks great once pinned back into place. Joel
  25. Good luck at your track event. Exactly what type of an event is it? Joel
