  1. For sale: Monogram's Pro-Modeler series F-86D "Dog Sabre" in 1/48 scale. Box has been opened but all parts are still on the sprue. I have not listed this on eBay. $25 will cover everything (the kit + shipping). I will gladly accept money orders and personal checks but I hope everyone understands if I make sure the check clears before I send the kit out. I've just been burned in the past and am hoping to avoid that scene again. Please feel free to contact me if there are any questions either through ARC or via my two e-mails: echolmberg@hotmail.com or eric.holmberg1@hotmail.com Thanks! E
  2. For sale: Verlinden's 1/48 Scale photo etch detail set for the P-51D (Tamiya). Set includes engine and gun bay detailing set. I got this set back when I thought I'd have time to actually do this. In other words...before I had kids. Was asking $25, now asking $20. That will cover both the item and the shipping to the US and Canada. Check or money order will be fine but please allow a couple of extra days if a check is sent. As an FYI, I'm located in Green Bay, WI and the item is not being listed on eBay. Thank you, Eric
  3. Trying to thin out my stash of B-25s. I have the Accurate Miniatures 1/48 scale B-25 Doolittle Raider up for sale. Except for taking the plastic off the box, the kit has remained untouched under my workbench in the dehumidified basement. Was asking $45 but now I'll let it go for $40 and that will cover both the kit AND shipping to the continental US as well as our Canadian brethren. Thanks! Eric
  4. I wouldn't say it's gone! A couple of weeks ago I buggered up the windscreen on my 1/72 SR-71. I hopped on their web site and ordered the part. About a week later, the part was in my mail box. No complaints here at all! Eric

    1-32 P-51D

Cairnsy, it's been a good couple of years since I built my Hasegawa 1/32 P-51D but I do remember that it was a very pleasant build. As Zach mentioned, the surface treatment is far more subtle. I haven't built the Dragon kit but I've seen them built up at contests. I can't speak for the fit or ease of assembly but yeah, the Dragon surface detail is perhaps a bit over done. I enjoyed building the Hasegawa offering and the price is great. I have never been one to get aftermarket cockpits but I think if I were to build the Hasegawa version again, I might spring for a resin update set. It jus
  6. I usually get down to my man cave about once a week to do my building. I wait until the wife and kids are sound asleep and then I'll head down there and turn on the radio. After 11 PM that's when the oddball radio shows are on like George Noory and others of a similar nature. I've really learned a lot like how Marilyn Monroe was a trained government assassin and how Bigfoot is really an interdimensional being. Eric
  7. But...but...but...but I thought people LIKED recessed panel lines! Eric
  8. Hi everyone 99.9999% of my builds are U.S. WW2 aircraft. I come from the long-held belief that if it ain't got props, it ain't no airplane. Anyway, I'm looking at picking up the AMT/Ertl S-3 Viking in 1/48 scale from the local hobby shop in the next few days. I've always liked the Vikings and their colorful tails. However, since I mainly do WW2 prop jobs, can anyone steer me in the right direction as to where I can find some aftermarket decals for this j-j-j-(I have a hard time saying it)...JET? Thanks in advance! Eric
  9. Didn't ANYBODY read the rules as engraved in the NFL archives??? Rle 18, subsection 3, paragraph 12 clearly states that if the receiver catches the guy who intercepted the ball, it's, like, the same thing as a touchdown. I'm just glad he didn't spike the Packer defender who rightfully intercepted the ball. Eric

  11. Welcome to the forum Greg! I'm afraid that my contribution won't really help much. I hope someone here can answer your question. I had never heard of HGW Rivets. I checked out their web site and it seems to be in Czechoslovakian. Are these "rivets" applied like a set of Mike Grant decals or do they go by some other method? Is there an English web site which carries this item? Thanks! Eric
  12. Happy Birthday to all my fellow September 20th-ers! And don't forget echolmberg! That's me. The big 4-2 today. Eric

  14. For sale: Verkinden's detail set #1274 for the Accurate Miniatures 1/48 scale Avenger. Still brand new and complete in the box. I forgot I even had the thing until I discovered it tonight while going through my stash of aftermarket stuff. It contains a resin engine along with wiring for it. Also included are photo etch parts for the engine and gun bays as well as the dive flaps and cockpit. $25 will cover everything including the shipping within the U.S. and Canada. Will accept a check or money order. If you send a check, please allow for a couple of days to account for clearance. Tha
  15. I've pondered the possibility of using a software program for my stash of models, supplies and paints. But then it got me to thinking that if I have so much crud that I need the use of a computer to keep track of it all, that means I've got a problem. I sold a bunch of stuff and just started focusing on the "building" aspect instead of the "getting" aspect. Besides, if I have to enter in all that info into some sort of program, why should I do that when I could take that time and dedicate it to building? Eric
  16. You say your library "probably" won't take them. Have you actually checked with them? At my local library, the history section is VERY skimpy to say the least. Rather than guess and speculate how many "airplane geeks" are out there, why not just offer them to the library. I think there are people out there who'd be interested but you're just unaware of it or assume that there won't be. Eric PS. Any Veterans facilities nearby that might be interested? VFWs? VA clinics/hospitals?
  17. At least in my area of the country (WI), Public Radio IS hyper-emotional partisan manipulation or corporate media propoganda. Eric
  18. I'd like to second this sentiment. You could time each of my builds with a calendar, not a clock. I sure would love to be able to devote more time to the hobby which I love. But on the other side of that coin, spreading a build out over months or even a year or more means that I won't really get burned out on it. I can work on it for a couple of hours over the weekend and then I can retreat from it for a while. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? When life allows me to delve back into it several weeks later, I can do it with a renewed enthusiasm. At the same time, since it tak
  19. How about a plane of one of the most famous Polish pilots, Franciszek Gabryszewski, better known as Francis "Gabby" Gabreski? Eric
  20. When it comes to air-to-air combat, don't they often say "It's the man, not the machine"? It's kind of the same way with models. It's not the kit itself. It's what you can do with the kit. There's nothing wrong with raised panel lines. It's just a matter of knowing how to work with them. It takes a different methodology compared to recessed lines. They're not bad. They're not worse. They're just different and you have to know how to handle them. It would be a shame to deprive yourself of the Monogram F-106 simply because of the panel line situation. Eric
  21. That's an oversimplification. the issues that lead to their demise were far more than how they viewed the sacrifices of their military. Eric
  22. I'm looking for a set of decals for the B-17G "Outhouse Mouse" in 1/48 scale. I have several aftermarket P-51, P-47 and P-61 sets to swap. Thanks! Eric
  23. DITTO! Mr. Coleman, I'd love to see the above mentioned planes produced in 1/48 scale. Oh, and an F7U Cutlass, too. Thanks, Eric
  24. I have not gotten my hands on the GWH version but I have built eight of the Monogram versions. I'm curious to hear other people's opinion if, with the errors mentioned above, is the GWH version still worth the 4x more that you'll pay when compared to the Monogram version? Just curious. Thanks! Eric
  25. Wow! $21 for a 1/144 SR-71? I like Dragons other offerings where they give you two planes in one box for half the cost. But the Blackbird and the U-2 would look great on my desk at work. I might have to snap these kits up when they hit the shelves at my local hobby shop. Eric
