  9. Ahoy this will be my first build log here on this delightfull and wonderfull forum. This is a card kit I had for years and decided to build it here. for those who are not aquainted with card kits the following photos will give you an I dea how these models are assembled and their secrets. I been building card for many years on end. My favorite is plastic with the economy of the skyrocketing cost of plastic kits has turned me back to the bygone age of card modeling. Card modeling in the USA was popular at one time until the event of plastic and balsa wood came to view. the kit comes
  10. Ahoy Holmes Thank you for your wonderfull reply.Yes the PB@Y is named after coronado. and their PBY is named after Catalina island. Both aircraft were used through out the war and after. The PB2Y was striken from the navcy register in 1953. They used the Martin Mars exclusively. The Mars was striken in 1956 and sold for scrap. They were saved from their demise when canada forest Industries bought from the Navy and used them as Borate Bombers only two such example exist today and still flying. I bought this kit in 1966 from Archers Hobby world the worlds first mail order house
  11. Ahoy Here is a old vacuform kit of the consolidated PB2-Y Coronado flyingboat. The company Sutcliff dont make this kit anymore, It went out of buisness in 1972 I bought this in 1966, I searched a lot of modeling forums to see if this aircraft was ever modeled by anyone except me. Boats
  12. Ahoy Darth thank you sir for your reply some day i will try and locate another kit of this and have it painted with White upper decking and polished aluminum. this was a good kit to build pretty expensive at the time. I hate to see how much they are now $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Thank you for the reply. Boats
  13. Ahoy Here is another of my collections i found laying around the hpouse that I Forgot I had. I had this bird for 9 years first time it seen the light of day in 9 years after I built it. This is the Minicraft 1/72 Boeing 377 Statocruiser This truely was a delightfull kit and build after I completed the model i had second thoughts that I should have painted the upper decking White and the rest was polished Aluminum. I went ahead and built her straight from the box. I used Kitchen foil cemented down with duluted contact cement I used acetone for thinning.
  14. Ahoy aircommando130 Thanks for the reply I am honered. Monogram produced four different versions of the famed C-47. 3 of them were box scaled not certain what scale around 1/72 or perhaps smaller. the first kit they released was the C-47 Skytrain with a paratrooper poseing under the plane when he bailed out. plane No.2 is the DC-3 TWA. by 1967 they released the AC-47 Spooky or Puff in the same scale. 11 years later they came out with the 1/48 scale kit. the rest is history. Thanks for the reply. Boats :stupid:
  15. Ahoy Piano Guy Thank you for your wonderful reply, this is a excelent kit like most kits in general there are a few issues here and there. I never had or heard that Trumpeter made one of these kits if so they are expensive and miles better then the Monogram kit. I cant see anything wrong with the Monogram kit the onlt plastic surgury involved on my build is that I dropped the flaps and filled in the front and sides of the flap wells. and adding some interier structures to the flap wells, Monogram made a great kit A kit that is 35 years old still can hold a candel next
