You may be right David, thanks for the tip. A couple of y'all asked about the weathering: I simply pre-shaded all the panel lines then after two very light misted coats of top colour, then after a coat of Johnsons Kleer (US = Future), I decalled it. After a day or so, I mixed 50/50 Paynes Grey/Raw Umber oil paint and applied it into the panel lines. The elevator recesses were washed with pure matt black to accent the shadow effect. I then painted a number of the smaller access panels with different tones of Neutral Grey/Olive Drab. I added a few 'paint chips' with a 0 sable brush on the le
  2. Ron, that's EXACTLY what I did, the Tipp-Ex you see just blended the joins. And you're right about the marker too, it's all been wiped away now, I just marked in the camo pattern for my own reference. Thanks for the comments so far. It will be some time before I do any more to this, got to get around to dipping/masking the canopy, but there's an PR Meteor demanding my attention first ! Ahhh well, so many kits, so little time ! Ian
  3. I know a lot of folks on various web-sites complained when this little kit came on the market, but I honestly don't know what all the fuss was about. What you see here was accomplished with little Tipp-Ex and a couple of sheets of fine wet'n dry.... Ahh well, here's the pics of the progress so far: The only additions that I've made so far is an Ultracast seat and some wiring behind the IP. I'll be adding Ultracast exhausts and wheels later. This one is going to be a 112Sqn machine using Tally Ho decals. Thanks for looking, as usual all comments, crits and questions are welcome. Thanks

  6. Thanks Moeggo - That's a great help..... Ian
  7. Guys I may well be going-over ground already covered here, but I'm genuinely confused by all the information that is available. I'm very well aware of the effects of extreme weather, degraded paint stocks, locally applied colours etc, etc on the final appearence of any combat aircraft (especially one found in the heat and humidity of the southwest pacific.), however, in my mind only aircraft used by the RAAF wore 'FOLIAGE GREEN', so why is it that any number of profiles, references and box-arts show Bob Frisken's well known 'Wairarapa Wildcat'/NZ3072 in a lighter more 'olive' green, very clo
  8. Beautiful..... both the art and the model ! Ian
  9. RoG 1:48 kit, Xtracolour & Humbrol Enamels and a lot of masking ! Not long to go on this now.... Thanks for looking, as usual all comments, questions and outrage, welcome ! Ian
  10. Thanks guys.... much appreciated. Ian
  11. All So far I've shied away from buying replacement seats for my Tami 1:32 'J'. I have used Verlinden seats for a number of 1:48 F-4's in the past and Neomega seats in 1:72. But I'm not sure as to the best for the 1:32 ones. I prefer those with the belts/harness moulded-on as opposed to 'naked'. As the seats/cockpit attract a lot of attention in a 1:32 they have to be 'right'.... so what do you guys think ?? Ian
  12. Simply beautiful. That's been saved straight to my hard-drive. Just outstanding Ian
  13. Moritz Ja the dayglo is from Xtracolour. It's their 'Leuchtorange' from the RAL series. Mixes beautifully, but needs a VERY solid white undercoat and ABSOLUTELY MUST be painted in three or four thin coats and only with an airbrush. Once dry, give two or three coats of varnish - I swear by Johnsons Kleer - then either mask or decal. Ian
  14. Aaron It isn't NMF it's a painted silver finish similar to what the RAF used on their postwar aircraft. I took a lot of photos of the H-34 at the Obeschlessheim Museum just outside Munich a couple of years back - it's a very Matt smoothe paint finish. I used Xtracolour Enamel X500/Duralumin which is a VERY close match. Ian
  15. Beautiful model of a (seriously) beautiful aircraft. Ian
