  1. For 50 images of the Mi-26 in East Timor in 2001 - 2002 go to the link below: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Harvs73/library/mI-26?sort=3&page=1
  2. If you want something REALLY different why don't you do a RAAF P-38E PR aircraft? It means different colours from the 'run of the mill' P-38 and looks good to. http://www.aussiemodeller.com.au/pages/Reviews/Conversions/RRR48145_P38conversion.html
  3. It sounds like you have all the bits you need as there were only a few visual differences between the Mk VII and MK VIII. The main ones were the wingtips, the lack of pilot entry door, different canopy and an intake (?) on the port side of the lower engine cowl. I'm unsure about the tail planes etc as to whether they were different or not. I made the 1/48 ICM kit in two different schemes: http://www.aussiemodeller.com/pages/Galler..._SpitMk7-2.html http://www.aussiemodeller.com/pages/Galler..._SpitMk7-1.html
  4. If you have a look at this link you will see about half way down the page a large discussion on P-40 camouflage. Admittedly it is mainly about the Desert but you may find something useful. http://www.aussiemodeller.com/pages/discus...roup/forum.html
  5. I have been contemplating buying the kit because I like the look of the Panther but alas I can't quite fit it into my theme (Australian and FAA). Cybermodeller has done some sprue shots. http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/tru...tru_f9f-2.shtml

    RP-43 Lancer RAAF

Here is information taken from Hyperscale last year I think. Recently there was discussion on Hyperscale regarding the location of cameras in PR Lancers, particularly RAAF aircraft. Perusal of files obtained from the National Archives, Australia, although not positively locating the position of the cameras, do provide some clues. The RAAF Lancers' cameras were installed as per the USAAC Lancers and consisted of two 6 inch focal length K-25 oblique cameras positioned to provide overlap with the 12 inch focal length vertical camera. For reasons unknown, the RAAF proposed that the K-25's be repl
  7. I will have to see if the Mi-26 walkaround from East Timor I put on the helicopter walkaround site is still there now!
  8. Here are some links to my look at the CMK conversion for the PR-16 and the exterior set for the Mosquito. I'm glad that Paragon is changing the canopy to be compatible with Tamiya kits as it's very hard to convert the Tamiya canopy to the PR16 standard (broke mine). http://www.aussiemodeller.com/pages/Review...eview_pr16.html http://www.aussiemodeller.com/pages/Review...conversion.html
  9. They are still in production and are available from http://www.hawkeyemodels.com.au/ All of the people I have spoken to that have used them are quite happy with them. There are a few reviews of different sets on www.aussiemodeller.com and CLayton the owner frequents the Discussion board there.
  10. I have heard that for the P-51D in Japan after the war but not for aircraft other than fighters.
  11. I have found that after using what ever abarasive takes your fancy to remove the seam I polish the canopy with toothpaste with a coton tip / bud then dip in Future/equivalent. This always comes up good and is a lot cheaper than using a store bought polishing compund.
  12. Hu 149 is the colour I reckon is the best match for new paint, for me anyway. But I like to paint each model I do in foilage green in a different hue / version of foilage green to get a bit of variety in tones and colour. This is the start and then the weathering process gives an even better variety.
  13. I will attempt to find a copy of the instructions I have buried somewhere. It may take a while as i just moved to Watsonia in Melbourne. You may want to try www.aussiemodeller.com for some australia specific info.
  14. Grant, the foilage green started out as semi-flat ie a slight amount of sheen. As with all paints it faded and went matt with sun exposure. Like all things related to Foilasge green and other RAAF colours it is up to your taste in finish as there is no set cdolour/ sheen.
  15. The 1/35 Kiowa is a D model that needs serious rework to make a A model. I'm unsure on the windows.
