  1. Here's some comparison of 1/72 Revell & Monogram Shuttle.. OV099 is pretty old and dusty now, I didn't clean the model yet...😬 IMHO, I think the Monogram Shuttle has the most accurate shape & profile, except for the larger cockpit windows which can easily rectify. It has good nice landing gears, but the Revell wheels are far better...both kits have pros & cons. Monogram OVO99- old kit & build years ago!! I think I need to redo the Monogram Challenger later....with better details.😬
  2. Thanks a lot Pete, Your Shuttle models are great too!! many awesome details for the eyes to feast upon, keep them coming...!!😀 Yeah, Space Shuttles are history now, but least we can make models of them to live up the excitement of what they were once. No other space vehicles come so close with many missions & long career such as the reusable Shuttle. Hope you can build more Shuttles, maybe a full stack, I haven't seen anyone complete a full stack over these years, except for crowe-t...🤪 I have plan to build a 1/144 correct detailed full
  3. Hi Pete, Thanks, I use postimage to upload the images, it can be over 100 kb, direct link will place the pictures here in this Forum. Yes this Shuttle has the drag chute compartment installed since this is the final upgraded version. A Shuttle collector which happens to be my friend made me a deal to acquire this Revell Atlantis so I am finishing her up and she will find a new home..🤧 Sad to see her go soon. Chrome silver was painted in the landing gear bays & the landing gears have added struts for extra details. The wheels looks m
  4. Hi Guys, Thanks.. I try paste some pictures here direct link.. Hope you view the pictures here.. Atlantis is getting few details and finishing paint touches... Hope this works & I post more updates in pictures !🙂 This model is quite heavy! George..
  5. Hi Pete, Thanks, nice to hear from you again.. Unfortunately now I'm unable to post photobucket pictures directly to this forum. So a link is the means to view the photos. Yes, I still continue to build Shuttles model if I have time. NASA Shuttle programme have ended & their fleets are retired, Sadly this 1/72 shuttle will soon find a new home with its new owner.🤧 I also have a Tamiya 1/100 Shuttle almost getting ready for painting various shades of the TPS & FRSI. Great to see you still post Shuttle too &
  6. Alias, OV-104 Is near completion.. She will find a new home soon..see next post on pictures.. Cheers, Jetplane.
  7. Hi Pete, Perhaps this old reference picture of OV-099 should help you out.... You gave me inspiration to make a OV-099 with several Tamiya kit that I have... Can't wait to see you continue and finish this Tamiya model. Cheers, Jetplane
  8. Decals from Flightpath available in 1/144 and 1/200 scale. Regards, JP
  9. Thanks TT, The upper deck was made from a leftover Revell B747-400 kit..i just cut off and grafted the section onto the -300..pretty simple job. landing lights are decals. cheers, JP
  10. Revell 1/144 scale B747-300 Base model Revell B747-100 Rear View The actual aircraft...... same view
  11. Finally Hotdog's awesome HD tile decals arrives... its incredible well detailed and finely printed! :jaw-dropping:/> Highly recommend for anyone doing accurate detailing on their shuttle model. Next progress update should have the Shuttle upper fuselage painted & decaled! Jetplane
  12. Just a small progress.... coated the bottom with primer...hmm..I am still waiting HD Shuttle tile decal set. The OMS Pods are reworked to bring the Shuttle as updated. Until then..bye for now!
  13. Hotdog, Is it possible for you to scale up your nice HD tile and Shuttle stencil markings decal set to 1/72? I think Monogram Shuttle is very similar profile to the Airfix Shuttle..it should be no problem to apply the bottom tile decals. Maybe you can design the tile areas covering the cockpit cap, OMS pods section plus the Triangular piece aft of the OMS Pod's bottom. These white tiles are still use on the latter shuttle right down to retirement. Generally speaking all Shuttle kit should have the same outline shape and maybe a little trimmings for some existing decals to fit. Most
  14. Its the 1/72 Monogram Kit. I corrected the Pod black tiles..it can be removed. Cheers..
  15. OV-099 Early version and maiden Flight. OOB built and very old kit with tiles decals MISSION PATCH First mission to deploy TDRS-1 Early wing tile pattern and Name of OV-099 Rear SSME. Nose Front cockpit.. Updated photos, restoration. Cheers.... :D/>
  16. Hotdog, Can you send me a set of the Tamiya 1/100 scale tile decals you created? I'm wiiling to place an order for it plus your cost & shipping. Regards, Jetplane
  17. Finally got most modifications done on the Shuttle. I gave the part a few coats of primer to check things out. The Cockpit windows are adjusted and it took me quite a while to align them properly with photos as references. Main Landing Gears and Nose Gear painted and assemble. Its funny the way the parts are put together..you have to assemble the whole landing gears and attached onto the wings before joining to the fuselage. except for nose gear assembly which can be install later. The main landing gear are nicely detailed, but it had to be assemble into the wheel gear bay first.
  18. Ok..here's the recent works on the wing tips and Tail chute.. The gap between the elevons needs to be widen a bit too...hmmm  A little more finishing & refining the tail drag chute before the model goes to primer. More to process....until then.!
  19. Ok..further updates.. Reworking the SRBs adding strips of extra circular band and details of the ET-support brace-ring. (whatever it is called) Until then take care...more to come as progressing further... Jetplane
  20. Nice works on the SRBs..didn't know decals can do more -details on the fustrums.. :D Cheers, Jetplane
  21. Hi Pete, Crowe-T set the new standards for 1/144 Shuttle models..so I must keep pace... or fall behind! I just need update the Shuttle minor incorrect details only..Orbiter will be left mostly untouched. Particularly the ET (wrong fuel lines and lacking details)and SRBs. I've stripped down the SRBs and rebuild them soon.its not that difficult, just add details with plastic strips..etc and repaint. New Ware Shuttle booster detail set should greatly help this modifications. Hope i can pull it off nicely and a MLP is on its way to showcase the Shuttle one finished. It takes considerable
  22. Revell 1/144 old Discovery built 10 years ago and now needs to restore it again as STS-103 Hubble Servicing mission.. :rolleyes:/>/> The model has worn out CE tile decals, torn but it is repairable as there are spare set which I keep. It is not very accurate model and I will upgrade it better restoring works. The ET/SRB has been pulled off and later will redo once the Orbiter itself is done. I've begun stripping the SRBs down again and adding more details, repainting..its a long way to go Hope I can pull it off soonest. Apparently an sudden urge for me to redo my Shuttles
  23. I used Tamiya colors, they seems right shade when mixed properly. Here's a example I used on my early ET. Noted that most darker shades are upper cone & Intertank of the E.T. as the weathering goes with time. Hope you get it right.. Cheers, George
  24. Made a bit progress here. Glue the bayload doors shut, their fit is quite perfect. :rolleyes:/> The wings does fit pretty well.I guess no much filler require or little is needed. I still need to modify and correct the wing tips and elevons. until then.... :D/>
