  1. Well..Well..finally some progress seen on this shuttle. Its about time Mike get it going again...I thought it would take another 100 years before he finished it up! Keep the build going. George
  2. Marco, Your display are great looking....but noticed that the SRB nozzles is in dark gray? but should they be in white? Anyway both your Shuttle models looks awesome with their display base. Cheers......
  3. Great works Dude!! Nobody can say the exact accurate colors of the ET in every shuttle mission....They CHANGE their shades ONCE EXPOSED TO WEATHER. your ET colors is correctly depicted in every sense......and your SRB is very well detailed. keep it up and hope to see it finished! Best, George
  4. Well Dude!..you have sharp-eagle eyes.... No doubt your Revell SRB has the most accurate lines & added details...Hats off to you Mike! George
  5. Very nice works so far, But where is the aft OMS pod nozzles? do you plan to drill their locating holes for both port & starboard OMS? Cheers and keep it going with progress pictures..!! George
  6. For ET painting, IMO it all depends on which particular STS- mission you are modelling, photo references helps a lot here. The ET looks darker at the nose when exposed to the weather in time. I use Tamiya Acrylics colors on my shuttle ET and they work fine if not spot on matching the actual ET. If mistakes made or not correct I can always washed it off easily with dish washing detergent. Colors I normally use are - Desert yellow, white, red, chrome yellow, white..and medium gray all flats. George
  7. Bill, Your big 72 Shuttle is coming together nicely...both you and Vince done a great job.! :) keep it up and post more pictures!!! Can't wait to see it finish...hope by Christmas your shuttle would be ready.. Cheers, George
  8. This 1/72 shuttle is progressing well. Outstanding cockpit detailing. but I wonder why cut the rudder ends? is there something wrong with it? I'll be watching this build with interest.looks very awesome coming this far! This really encourage me to take out my Monogram shuttle and start working on her..! :P
  9. Marco -Thanks for the kind words. Pete- Thank you too, To answer your questions, the story goes like this-actually this shuttle (Revell) was partially complete sitting on my work bench for a year. The ET/SRB are already done years ago and updated. I was actually looking for a subject and mission to model. The Shuttle-orbiter was a left over model from a SCA kit than I have. Since I don't have Atlantis in my 1/144 collection so I decide to build her as a mid-life version with the zig-zag TPS wing pattern and various upgrades for all Shuttle fleet during that period. Together with the
  10. Mike, All my 1/144 Shuttles are favourite of yours..ha!!ha!!ha!!
  11. Thanks for the Photo reference. It seems the Space Shuttle under-went different looks right from VAB roll-out till launch site as they are prepare and progress to launch site. some pictures show it has windows covers till launch site and some with the SSME FOD covers too still in place? I'm not very sure but photos do show them and same goes with the SRBs too. Anyway I think its up to the modeler intention how to depict the Shuttle.... George
  12. Bill, Thanks for the information, I know they are not visible when the shuttle is on the MLP at launch site, I like to include them for extra detailing effect, but i can always cover them with white decals later ...but some pictures shows them on the MLP during roll out from VAB. Yes.. more shuttle coming..I'm working on a re-build 1/144 Discovery
  13. OMG..!! That's a very incredible cockpit detailing..and with the HUDs in place, this is one of the best 1/72 Shuttle cockpit I've seen this far. Keep it going..I'm sure the payload details will look awesome too. Shuttle modelling madness has gone high-tech and I see lots of folks doing every possible detailing to the model both in 1/144 and 1/72 for accuracy's sake. George
  14. Thanks Guys, Pete- Those orange markings are visible in photos and they are some sort of locating points for lifting the orbiter? I don't know exactly or sure about them. ( Maybe somebody can explain what they are ) The shuttle has their front/OMS RCS nozzles covered by some white papers as FOD protection prior launch. The white covers falls away or melt once the shuttle SSME are ignited and launched. Hence in 1/144 scale I opt not to paint them in black likewise. George
  15. Hi Vince, Nice build and showing how to correct the front RCS Thrusters Thanks for sharing mate... :D George
  16. wow..very detailed and realistic... Great photos too.!
  17. Additonal photos on the MLP Base.
  18. Finally done...Mission STS-86 launched in 25 September 1997, last Atlantis trip to MIR Space Station prior her OMDP upgrading. Rear End of Stack Close up Side-Views Rear Stack Mission Patch STS-86 and crew names On display MLP base. Well.. enjoy the pictures folks....

  20. Plastic Model kit by ROSSO of Japan...
  21. Thanks, Kit is 1/24 by ROSSO....I have another 512TR by Fujimi.. both are excellent kit but Fujimi has left/right-hand drive options and U.S.Spec.
  22. Thanks Mike, Moment I'm working on the RSM resin SSMEs and the Shuttle needs a little bit of weathering and minor details. After that is done..the ET/SRB will get a additional details before mating to the orbiter. The next pictures I'll post will be the finished Shuttle...!! Stay tune..
  23. Looking great so far with more details in progress. I'm keen to watch this Airfix Atlantis Stack build up and completed. Keep it going...!! George
  24. Marco, Yes, for mission STS-61B, the OMS on left is missing the black tile and also Atlantis does not have the upgrade tail brake chute.
