  1. Bob Hoover has made a legacy that can be equaled by very, very few. His post military career is not easy to match...While at North American/Rockwell...IIRC he flew an Aero Commander from Wichita, KS to DC to show the FAA it was indeed everything with one of the props locked in the luggage compartment. Don't try that a your local airfield.
  2. This is getting real goooood....maybe we should start calling it Error-bay
  3. AHA!!!...You caught that too, shipping from Vietnam I got no problem with, but where was it Pro built?...and if so the missile ID should be correct, no. Hopefully it's a typo and they'll catch and correct it, or it's gonna scare customers away.
  4. I know folks get confused at times at post a wrong term or pic....but this one has me going New Lookin' AGM-88
  5. You do that Voodoo so wellllllllll.... :D , sorry just couldn't resist. Very nice work..just what we need more "Century series" aircraft...from the "golden age" of jet development and advancement..excellent build...what's next?
  6. While at Wally world and shopping for super glue I came across a new (to me) loctite product, picked it up RTL and hello... says it's good for filling gaps. I know the gaps they're talking about are the one we get at times on a build; anyway I bought it and this AM I used on a Hasegawa Phantom that had a gap at the join of the fuselage and right wing. I applies a drop to the area and watched the action; it filled the gap and at the mo looks as if minimum sanding will be required further reports to follow. Loctite GO2 Gap filler
  7. That is sweeeeeeeeeeeet..
  8. That is a cool scheme, but don't forget their first cruise scheme...that was
  9. Something that not every decal maker has done two or more times.....old school GG/Wh or little seen TPS mid 80's early 90'sish .
  10. If this site has been mentioned before forgive my errant 2nd thread, if not it is an interesting site for all types torches, fans, and dusters...I see a few I'd like in print Cloud 9 Photography If there's another thread and you missed it like I did, no worries mate, here's another chance ;)
  11. :( You just rained on my parade.....ya missed one..VF-114 those magnificent"Aardvarks" did fly in GG/Wh scheme according to home of M.A.T.S. Aardvarks F-14A GG/Wh D-Rob missed one?...What's gonna happen next a sandstorn in downtown Liverpool?. D-Rob I just had a horrifying thought; if you do this "I will now turn down my geekiness"...a lot of modelers are in deep kimchi, ask yourself, do you want ARC to go into withdrawl
  12. I'm Ok with the tail as it is, but that Eagle needs to be removed or re-done. I agree with Waco....that painted eagle just kills the whole idea.
  13. As a home grown Texan I hate to see squadron in this kind of a fix, but when the handwriting is on the wall as was said earlier, and in plain sight, and you choose not to read it or to ignore the message....the fault is their own. I was a squadron fan for years, but when their shipping became more self serving instead of customer friendly...the affair became strained and the soon to come business practices brought it to a sudden untimely end. Saving them would mean another vendor to go to, but I must ask would/will they get the message and put customers before profit to the point of retaining
  14. I'd love to see CA ANG jet decals, with the 4 stars on the tail, and the old school GG/Wh early Tomcat schemes like VF-33, -51,-84, 102,-111,-114, etc.
  15. Ikar you make an ol' SEA warhorse prance with pride, Thanx for the posts....I'll be back many times in the coming days; that's for sure :) B)
  16. Ok I-45 get ready I know a guy in Dallas who'll be in the south bound left lane all the way :D
  17. I probably won't see the day, but some of the more junior members of ARC will, when a dad and son walk into a store purchase an aircraft model and some one will say "in the old days they came in the box in plastic parts maybe 150 or so, and they used glues to assemble it, and then small jars of different colored paints to finish it, ahhh those were the days". Die-cast is taking away the romance and joy of plastic modeling IMHO, and 3-D printing will at some point be able to produce a complete model.
  18. Every now and then a real feel good story hits the news and I'm oh so glad I caught this one, So many seem to fall thru the cracks. I'm proud to be a Veteran!!
  19. that is totally NVTS!!!
  20. Some years back, on a short stay in Austin, I became a member of the ASMS, and had the privilege of attending one of their annual model shows. One of the members (I can't remember if he was the Prez or not), took a kit of a Tomcat opened the box and displayed the sprues still in the plastic bags, along side a finished build of the same kit, with a small sign stating "from this came this" from a box of plastic parts came a beautifully done Tomcat build and a "you too can do this" I don't know how many kits he helped sell, or how many folks got into the hobby, but that display sure drew a lot of
  21. I'm looking for a Harrier as described used, discarded, ready to be binned, etc...I'm looking for the forward fuselage parts from the intakes forward.
  22. Patience young padawan...patience...you've got such a good groove going....the wait is worth the reward...(Jeez look who's talking..Ok I'll start practicing what I'm a preaching B) )
  23. Tony; inquiry....when the gasbag gets jettisoned does that support brace...go with it or?
  24. That old term "kit bashing" comes to mind...buy both and sacrifice them to get one good kit. Ya get the best of both...I for one am dismayed with the Academy MLG bay, for starters and I'll leave it there...Mr. Vark can lay it out much better and more accurately than I can.
  25. Most of the time the "Gentlemen' scalers are complaining about not having something that the quarter scalers have, well the worm has turned now we quarter scalers get the short end of the modeling stick. There are a lot of kits of aircraft flown on the Eastern side of the Atlantic (RAF, Armée De L'air) that we have kits of or for, here's the rub: European Weapons Some one should tell Mr. Hasegawa that this set will sell mightily in 1/48th, as some folks (like me) would by multiple sets of same. I guess the "gentlemen" scalers get to rub our noses in it this time. The Brimstone missiles would
