  1. I need Props for a C-130J or any other model that has at least 4 blade props. I have been told props from an early or late model E-3 will work because they are the same thing. If anyone has extras they are willing to get rid of I would gladly buy them. Or even trade something for them. I am building a KC-130 out of an AC-130A and need the props instead of the 3 blade props it comes with. PLEASE someone help. This build is to compliment my CH-53E build I am doing for my father and want to put both in an in flight refueling pose. Thanks everyone. JOSH
  2. While I agree with the flaps drooping I do not agree with the horizontal drooping. I work around these every day and have not seen more than a few yet where the horizontal stabs droop or are out of line with the rest of the wing. You did a wonderful job on the kit its just too bad Kittyhawk went out and got in a hurry to introduce this kit because the RAM panels are way too thick. It is the only thing I see wrong with your master piece besides the weathering to my eye being a bit too much. These planes are kept pretty clean and aside from the hard water stains from water running down the sid
  3. I use future as well. I hate the thought of having to clear coat flat paint just to lay some decals down. I use future straight from the bottle with no diluting. I put the decal in warm water to soften it and put a drop of future on the model where the decal will rest. I use a lot of q-tips but it works really well. After I lay the decal in the future puddle I use q-tips to soak up the future under the decal. If you can be quick enough laying the decal down take a q-tip dipped in windex and clean up around the decal and you should have minimal gloss if any at all after it dries. I then use a r
  4. Not sure how relevant this is or if anyone has heard yet. VMFA-121 Will deploy to a permanent base in Japan come late 2015. From what I have been hearing here and seeing is that VMX-22 will be here late this year. VMX-22 just got their first F-35 from VMFA-121 about 3 weeks ago and VMX-22 will be stationed here, well part of them will be from there on out. It was originally stated that we would have one test and evaluation squadron and a training squadron along side of our home squadrons of the F-35. This leads me to believe only one thing. Either VMFAT-501 will be stationed here in the future
  5. Thank you for the info Crash Test Dummy. I will have to take a closer look at the sponsons. I am building this one as an in flight display with a CH-53E behind it in flight refueling so a lot of parts are going to be deleted. Still appreciated as far as flaps and landing gear go because I plan on doing one on the ground.
  6. unfortunately I only have the 3 blade props thats what I am trying to trade for.I wouldn't mind either 4 or 6 blade props so I can reproduce a KC-130 with it. I can scratch build the tanks and the Drogues but I have no idea how I would so the spinners unless I build spinners that actually look like they are spinning. If everything else is the same then I am probably fine with the scratch building part.
  7. Shan I am sorry I didn't post sooner I have been terribly busy. Bro you did a marvelous job on your Harrier. I was very surprised to see you had finished it so soon after giving me all of the things to finish mine. I really thought you had shelved that thing for a much larger amount of time. Dude I really like the weathering not sure how you came through all of the build problems with this monstrosity of a model but you knocked this one out of the park. The detail you got with the PE is amazing. I am still searching for the reference pictures I need in order to restart my Harrier. Hopefull
  8. Jael Great job on the Hornet. Apologies for not commenting sooner I haven't been on ARC in a while. I really like the weathering as well I wouldn't change a thing on it. She came out a whole lot better than I was imagining. Glad I could be of assistance with the parts. I have a pretty large stash of parts so in the future let me know if you need anything and if I have it you will be the first to receive it. Great job again she's a knockout. Can't wait for your next project. Cheers and happy modeling. JOSH
  9. I just got a hold of an AC-130A and want to convert it to a KC-130. I don't care if it is the J model or any other model KC-130 I just want to convert it for a project I am working on. If anyone want's to trade the engines and props with me to build an A model I have them but I am looking for either 4 or 6 blade props and engines to convert this C-130A to a KC-130. Or if anyone knows if there is a conversion set to convert to a KC-130 and would be willing to direct me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. I have a pretty big selection of models to be able to trade to someone for
  10. http://www.military.com/video/aircraft/jet-fighters/afa-2014-the-f-35-issues/3790123269001/ Here is Bogdan telling what is the problem with the F135 engine. I am pretty sure this isn't a cover up because it explains exactly what happened and what we know already. What it does explain is what is going to happen in the future to remedy this problem. The F-35 while still loaded with bloatware like all of the phones and computers we buy from manufacturers like Samsung can and will have the extra weight taken off in due time. TT I am interested in seeing this article if you would kindly post it
  11. I took this picture Monday. It had been very rainy the 2 days before and I was at just the right place and the right time to capture. It is with my phone camera hopefully I can some day be pros like you with all the shiny new up to date equipment. Sunset in Yuma Az. Overlooking CH-53E's that are here for WTI and the parking ramp looking out to VMFT-401. Hope you all like it. This is what our sunsets look like occasionally with the clouds that we hardly ever get.
  12. This one caught my eye because the pilots in the plane on approach to the runway are looking in envy. Wish I could be either one of them weather the CF-188 or the Prop job puling out after them.
  13. +1 on what Triarius said. That and it could have come from paint not being left to dry long enough. On automotive lacquer paint you only let the first mist coat of paint to dry for about 15 minutes. After that you move in small mist stages up until you reach your final coat thickness. Or which I was told from an auto body technician my brother. This should hold true to the enamels that you are using except the drying times are different. On enamels the light misting coat is about a half hour. The reason you give it drying time is so that your next coat will not have any thinner solvent fumes
  14. I have just started using Tamiya Extra thin and I have to say where the hell was I in not heading advice. You will come up with the best ways to apply it on your own but I can tell you now I am sold on the product. The stuff bonds quick enough to not get you into a hell of a situation but dries slow enough you can put clamps and things of that nature on without having to break the weld that it makes. + 1 for everything said above. I put the glue around the inside of a seam if I can get to it but also outside. It to me creates a stronger bond but the clean up is not all that bad. I use a scribe
  15. I'm surprised no one has put anything up of Half of the Air Foce F-16 fleet being grounded because of structural cracks. Is this something off topic or should we be concerned with only a very new aircraft having structural problems? Can see it here if you haven't heard anything about it. http://www.dodbuzz.com/2014/08/20/f-16-grounding-highlights-need-for-upgrades/\ I kind of wonder if the F-16 had any teething problems when it was this young.
  16. I would be in with an A-6B. Something from Flight Of the Intruder that has been put off for a long time is in order. Iron Hand comes to mind quickly. Night Stalkers is a good name. Or another When Darkness Falls.
  17. Ok Joel no problem. Figured I would offer just in case. I am very much enjoying this build. It really is making me want to break out my other Intruders. I am an A-6 Lover of both airframes and have 3 each in the stash along with the one I have currently on hold. If you ever need anything I am one of the Prowler Intruder guys that you can talk to. I dont know everything But I can answer questions. And I have a GRIP of pictures should you need them. Keep up the great work cant wait to see more.
  18. The only thing else I would suggest if you will do a landing DIO is to extend the landing gear to their full extended length to show that is is indeed coming in for a landing. I have a full set of scratch build gear waiting for the Prowler I am building that have been extended if you want them. All I would require in return is your landing gear in return. So I can re modify them to fit my Prowler. This thing has been on the shelf for a year now pending me getting a new airbrush compressor. If you are interested give me a PM and I will get them out within a few days. I care not if yours have ev
  19. +1 I second this thought. I am building an EA-6B Prowler in that configuration and it has the flaperons in the up position. From what I have researched the flaperons are only used as speed breaks. And what was posted earlier would not be deployed on a Carrier because of the arrested landings. On ground they would be deployed because of the speed in which the land at and the wing tip speed brakes are not enough to slow the aircraft down.
  20. Hey Jael Missiles and Racks are on their way. Hope it hasn't slowed your build down.
  21. I just figured out the feet are completely wrong so a retool is in order. We will see what happens from here I have down loaded a huge amount of pictures. Hopefully I can get it right next time.
  22. Ok I have decided I am way to bored with regular models and wanted something different. I am not in a place in my life to be able to afford kit Gundam models so I decided to scratch build one instead. I'm sure its not going to be 100% correct but hopefully it will come close. This model is based on the 1/60th scale paper craft model found on line. The front part of the feet are built out of .050 styrene and the back portions are built with .020 styrene. Most of this will be built with .020 styrene except for critical parts needed for strength. I have only been working on this for about 3 days
  23. just wondering if the one I am trying to enter is approved or not. I put it in the Potential builds post but no one has commented on it.
  24. LOL thanks guys I understand now. I appreciate the help.
