  1. THank you for the advice guys. I decided to try something else. I am expermenting with weathering techniques so i will cover over the silvering with paint chips, exhaust stains and other field damages too see how it comes out. Maybe i can learn some new techniques from this Oops!
  2. I have been working on the 1/48 F4U-5 Corsair from hasegawa. And i have come across a problem i have yet encountered. I got it finished in the overall Dark Sea Blue, then put on a gloss finish to apply decals. All most all of the decals silvered; even though i used micro set to apply them and softened them with microsol. I have never had decals so this before. This was my first hasegawa model so i am wondering if it a hasegawa decal thing? Stupidly i applied an over coat thinking that it would pull the decals down and fix the problem. Now i have a wonderfully finished corsair with v
  3. Thanks Illes. I will use knife next time - i thought the sprue cutter would be more effective...... learn something new everyday
  4. no pics... sorry havent bought a digital yet will have one in a few weeks though its not horriblw but is noticeable
  5. Hey All! Im here to gripe for a moment...... i bout a sprue cutter not to long ago and yesterday i used to to cut the canopy of a monogram 1/48 p-40b off the clear sprue. to my dismay it sent a bright white crack up the side of the canopy even thought the sprue cutter didnt cut anything except for the gate....... earg!!!!! is there a fix for this??
  6. i tried to find info on revells professional glue and i could not find any..... where would i get some?
  7. all a bunch a CA'ers huh? hmmm maybe it is good enought i just want my models to be semi-solid because i know that they might take a beating some day
  8. Hey all! what do you guys use to stick the models together with? i started out with testors tube glue (stopped due to its suckiness) then used CA (seems to brittle) now trying ambroid proweld (not sure yet- jury is still out) what do you guys use for a good strong hold?
  9. i would tape the two halves together and stick it in the microwave...... fusion might work! in all seriousness i might try holding it together and using thin CA or medium CA then sand fill and repaint....you will probably not get by ruining the paint job catastrophic fusealge failure is usually not a quick fix where all AD's complied with?
  10. i have a acrylic gloss clearcoat on the model.... but the wash wont remove?
  11. Hey All once again i am back to pick at your modeled brains! i bought a 1/72 academy aircobra just to practice on i used the panel wash technique that was on here not to long ago (it was wonderful) i used acrylics heavily thined (mm acryl) and let it dry...then i used thinner to try and wipe of the excess..... and it didnt come off! so i tried using model master acrylic cleaner.... and it took it all of and damaged the paint..... so i have both extremes: no removal and all removal what will give me a happy medium i wan the wash to stay but the excess to go what should i use?
  12. thanks guys! will try the decal paper thing......... crossing fingers
  13. How do i cut the decal film so that it is the right thickness and completley straight? btw it is a 1/48 ki-84 i have never used decal film for canopies? will i over coat the canopy with a clear coat to keep the frame attached? or do i dip it in future when finished?
  14. hey all! i picked up a old tamiya kit of a ki-84 and all is well with it except for the canopy... it has frame lines but they are almost to small to show even through bare metal foil masks it tried to cut away the frames but had to freehand it due to lack of frame they didnt turn out straight so i removed them how do i make the canopy look real? with out lines to follow with the razor?
  15. hey all! i went out and bought a cheap 1/72 kit to practice a few things on.... seems wasteful...but i wanted to try many new things anyways i tried using ambriod like it says- "brush alond seam and hold together" well- where ever the brush touched the plastic it crazed..... not the result i was looking for :D how do you use this stuff? (i am looking for a stronger hold then CA, i am learning that CA becomes quite brittle after some time).
