  1. I have never liked Tamiya paint. The "Polly" is just furniture varnish (acrylic) Which Is what I do with the artists paint. And they are a bit pricey. The Agama I get for just over $1 plus shipping. They are very durable and need nothing but thinner. The Akan are just over $2 plus shipping. Since I get multiples I pay only a little more shipping from Europe than what it costs from California. US shipping has gotten very expensive. I can get stuff shipped for less from Europe. Especially from countries that do not use the Euro. England, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine are the top countries I bu
  2. I bought them on-line from a shop in California if you are talking about the Valejo the AK came from Florida. The Agama I buy from the Czech republic and the Akan I get from The Ukraine. I am also thinking about trying the Hataka paints from Poland. I hear very good things about them.
  3. I could understand a bottle or two being bad but seven? The first seven I bought? (and the last seven for sure). I just got my First AK Interactive paint bottle and it is very good. I love Agama and Akan also.
  4. I just received my AK Interactive and it is perfect. A little watered down but dried fast and hard within about half hour. I have been using the acrylic artists paints from Hobby Lobby and they work very well. Obviously you have to mix your own tints but that is OK by me. 2oz/79c. If you use them strait, you have to clearcoat them. I have started mixing them with acrylic wood varnish and they turn real tough. After that, clear is not required if not desired. I read the instructions on the Mission Models paints and they are not a straight out of the bottle use either. You have to mix a bunch of
  5. I was wondering if the Vallejo, AK Interactive and Mig paint all the same paint. Curiously they all come in the same bottles and all come from Spain. I have had really bad luck with the Vallejo paint and do not want to buy the other stuff it is all the same junk.
  6. Gents; I decided, after other acrylic paints here in the US are becoming scares, to buy some bottles of Vallejo paint. What a mistake. It is the worst acrylic paint I have ever purchased. After many decades of using Modelmaster, PollyScale and PollyS paints which I have always loved, I decided to by this Vallejo junk. I bought three bottles of RLM-82 two bottles of RLM-05 and others. A total of seven bottles. I wish I could return all of them. First of all the worst part of them is that they stay sticky forever. After one week they are still soft and sticky. the RLM-82 are ALL a different
  7. I don't know about today, but some years ago when Bob Kress was an engineer at Grumman he was a modeler. He would provide any kind of drawings. I got F9F and A-6 sectional drawings from him with no problems. I still have those somewhere. He would also print them in any scale desired. Mine were in 1/12
  8. I was on the PJ website and it has been discontinued by them. I emailed them and have not received a response. Aviation Megastore has one listed but they are asking 31 Euro for shipping. That is out of this world. I buy from Hannants, Hobbyshop.cz and ModelsUA all the time and the prices are half that for a box weighing 5#.
  9. I sure can use it. I can pay you with PayPal.
  10. I am just looking for a good, properly shaped canopy for my F9F. I accidentally crushed my PJ canopy and the kit canopy I have is way off in shape. I don't know if the Monogram canopy could be made to fit the Trumpeter but I believe it is of good shape. MUCH better than the Trumpeter one.
  11. You have a spare PJ Production Vac canopy for the Trumpeter F9F-2?
  12. This canopy was for the trumpeter/Hobbycraft. The Monogram canopy is actually quite good in shape. The trumpeter is way off.
  13. I noticed that the Vac-form canopy is once again no longer available for this kit. A accidentally crushed mine and now I'm screwed. I attempted to contact PJ Production in Belgium and never received a reply about the canopy. Don't know what I am now going to do.

Because of the new policy on Photobucket, I will slowly have to replace the pictures I posted here. I already did it on a couple of posts and will continue as time allows. Since I have no way of remembering the pictures I had in the post. But, I do have all of them so I will continue as I can best guess.

I just sent him another email. We will see what response I get. Another email from a third interested party would not hurt.

I have not communicated with them for a while and completely forgot about it. Send them an email or call. I will do likewise. Last info I had was that they ran some off.

Here is the Skyraideer cowling. The original back cowl flaps will have to be reused or easily made from strip stock. Also the front cowl flaps. The nose will have to be modified a little as shown in previous posts to accommodate the larger diameter cowling.

I only do these corrections as I build a model and find a major mistake. Since the Banshee is not one of my fields of interest I will not pursue it. I make $0.00 on these projects so time is only spent on kits I am interested in. Cowlings which I have corrected are as follows. AD Skyraider (Monogram), A-20A/B (AMT/Italeri), B-25 (Accurate Miniatures), F8F-2 (Hobbycraft) (the one Obscureco has at this time is not mine and is also incorrect. I am looking for them to replace theirs with my master.), PV-1 Ventura (Revell) (Available now from Obscureco). As seen on the right in this picture next to

Hay guys, I have news. The cowling test shots are ready and will be ready to ship soon. The few test shots have been made and the packaging will be ready in the next week or so. This is good news indeed. I will have to put together a pictorial setup for those who will need it for the prep work to use it. I have five kits total to build. I will now continue with the build on this thread. So I do not waste time, I will use one of my masters and one with that. Please contact Obscureco.com for the cowlings. http://www.obscureco.com/products.html
  21. Just saw a build review on a Polish website. Looks very nice. I just can't wait for this thing.
  22. I just HATE admitting that Trumpeter is better ,in anything. "It just aint right". I will just have to add it to the small group of "better" kits in the Trumpeter line. So now there is two along with the F4F. It sends shivers down my spine to have to admit to this. :0

Neither the Tamiya or the Monogram prop is right. The Raider actually used two distinctly different prop blades that I have seen The Tamiya is a little closer to the later prop art the hub but the prop blade is completely wrong because it should have a small lip at the trailing edge of the blade. The Tamiya completely lacks this feature which should be truly evident . The Monogram is much closer to the earlier blade because it did not have that lip at the trailing edge plus it had a much shorter neck at the hub. The Tamiya prop also coms much more to a narrower blade tip than the Monogram. Th
