  1. I read that the sweep of the Tamiya wing is about 2 degrees too little at the leading edge and that the Trumpi has issues with the tail to fuse fit once assembled. I would just glue the tail to front together first to make fuse halves and than glue those together afterword. Just make fuselage halves. The wing sweep can also be changed on the Tamiya wing but wing fences would need to be removed and replaced. At a 2 degree increase, that would be the only thing that would be visible or blatantly obvious.
  2. I will have to go with my 1911A1. More mess to clean up but quick and easy.:crying2:/> Are we saying here that Trumpeter got one right? I remember someone saying that the Tamiya wing sweep was off by about 5 degrees or something like that. Not sure in which direction. The Monogram is good in outline but is in fact 1/40 scale. Not sure if anyone else has come out with a good MiG-15. I still like the old KoPro/OEZ MiG-17 the best. But no MiG-15.
  3. I was wondering, which, out of all the 1/48 MiG-15 kits is the most accurate in outline. I have one of the Tamiya kits from a long ago, but remember reading of some issues with the kit. Which kit is better? (Please, don't say Trumpeter, or I'll shoot myself.):bandhead2:/>

    Trumpeter mig-27

  5. I just ordered two of these from the Ukraine. $9 each is a inexpensive fix. I have three of these kits. I will still require one of the ML noses and also the BN versions. If the BN version is the complete nose than it should also fit on the standard MiG-23M/MF kit which is half the price of the BN kit.
  6. All kidding aside, about four hours a night. Five on Saturday.
  7. Unfortunately I have TOO MANY hobbies or is it habits, that take up a lot of my time. I build custom rifles, I build vintage 1973-1981 Kawasaki big fours, I build RC aircraft (scale obviously, 1/6,1/12, 1/16) I also hunt and fish besides being at work 10-12 hours a day.
  8. Holy COW, That is a heck of a lot more work that you did, than what I want to do.
  9. Because the bulge is only to the sides and not up and down, I think the mod will be easy.
  10. That is what I am wondering if the Testors is simpler to shrink or the hawk to enlarge. I do have a suspicion that the Hawk to enlarge might be simpler. I also have both and will have to investigate closer.
  11. kitbashing the Eduard and trumpeter makes the model extremely expensive. I already have a bunch of the OEZ kits and I will use them.
  12. Hay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!_____________________________ COOL, there is one that has NAVY on the side. I never knew that. Also the noted diference between the Taiwan blue and the US CIA blue. I woner if that is so or if in fact they are the same color.
  13. If I'm not mistaken and remember the kit right, it can be built into the MF and PFM also. It has been a while since I have taken a look at the kit.It has separate spines for the others.
  14. I plan on kitbashing the Trumpi F-13 and UM kits with the OEZ kits. Shape wise the OEZ kits are fine but only crude. Even with the canopy area fixed, the OEZ kits make a fine MiG. However they do require some extra detailing. OEZ shape is ten fold better than the Academy kits fuselage.
  15. I have two of the hawk kits and might also do an earlier A model.
  16. I'm doing my F-13 in the Recon scheme. But since I have 3 kits I might do both of these.
  17. I think the most important thing are the intakes. I should be able and modify those on the kit. The only thing I will have to figure out, is which is simpler enlarge the ones on the Hawk, or shrink the ones on the Testors.
  18. Thank You, that will help a lot. Is it for sure that the tail # was not on the aircraft? I just ordered the "Warbird Tech" book on the U-2. I hope it has some useful info and pictures.
  19. That resin is very hard to find and when it is on eBay it is VERY expensive. I have looked for quite a while for it. This picture shows the intake shape quite well. Here is the proof that the aircraft had the wing tanks attached to it also. There is some discussion about that subject on other sites. Also these pictures verify the blue color and not black. The same color as used by Taiwan aircraft.
  20. From what I understand of the intakes, is that they must just be made more spherical laterally but not bulged vertically. I have a testors kit to take the wing fuel tanks from and bought metal landing gear and a vac canopy. I will have to see what I can modify a cockpit from.
  21. Is the old Hawk / Testors now newly re-released Lindberg kit still the only way to build the Article 360 airframe? I remember reading in some posts that the intakes must be modified a bit and the wing tanks must be installed from a newer testors kit. Any other thoughts? Any ideas on exactly what must be done to the intakes? There are a few different opinions on the intakes from various people.
  22. Thanks guys, Especially for that link in the previous post. I just see them an eBay all the time when I surf with the key words "1/48 MiG-21" You would think that the price would have gone down with the dislike of the kit. I was just wondering, that's all. As was stated in a previous post, "Eduard MiG-21 Weekend addition can be had quite in-expensively. I already have a few of the eduard kits and a LOT of the old OEZ kits in my stash. The only problem with the old OEZ kit is the canopy area and besides that seams better shape and size wise than the Trumpi kit. Even better than the old Academy
  23. The title said it all. I have a few of the eduard kits but have not seen the Trumpi kit. Any comments? My main questions are. Why and Which? I have a tendency to trust the Eduard brand quite a bit more since their Mig 23 and 27 disasters. I do have the MiG-21UM, but after all, it is the only game in town at this time. I still also have a copy of the HiPM resin kit plus the one I already built.
  24. I attempted to buy Eduard Overtrees from their website. If I went on sight anonymously, The price was one thing once I switched the price to $ and logged on, the price went up by 33%. So I never buy from Eduard even they send me almost daily solicitations. I just buy from Hobbyshop.CZ and get the best possible prices on Eduard.
  25. I order about 75% of my modeling stuff from the Ukraine. You cant beat the price even with the shipping. The reason the Trumpeter is so expensive is because Stevens Intl. has exclusive on US import and he really marks it up. The cost is actually 20% of what the kits retail for here in the US. Same as Eduard being exclusive with MMD and Squadron taking a huge markup. I bought the Aussie Eight spit set from the Czech republic for what ended up being$62 including shipping.
