  1. Here is my 1:144 21PFM I finished about a month ago.
  2. I took a 40% pay-cut over the last four years. Time (and some skill) I have money is getting to be in short supply though.
  3. I know of that kit. Have you seen it? I would rather put together ten vacu-formed kits than that thing.
  4. I agree with you on virtually all those points. What my point is; that most people that are interested and have been in the MiG-21 have spent quite a bit of money on one of the previous kits and all the extras already, myself included. I have a minimum of three each of the other kits in my stash which I have had for years. Since this is a hobby to us an is nothing more than wasting time to all outside of this hobby, than I will just waste that time on a kit I already have and not throw away more money in these hard economic times. I have taken 4 pay cuts in the last four years. 50-60-70 $ is a
  5. That is good news. Now- Why kick off a series with a kit that has been done. Why not kick it off with a kit that has NEVER been done. Would't it be a reasonable presumption that if you make an announcement like that that someone like Trumpeter or the NEW KP could beat you to the punch? It is good news about the "F" but it still makes no sense to me.
  6. We have seen 1:48 MiG-21 kits in OVERLOAD in the recent future. The Academy and Kp/KoPro/OEZ kits were good kits to begin with. There is enough aftermarket stuff available for all of those kits to make them up very well. ------ WHY IS THERE NOT A MiG-21F kit available in 1:48. Sometimes I think some of these manufacturers are from the moon or something. There are so many kits that come out that very few people want and are WAY overpriced and not the ones that have never been made and are really needed. Why do a MiG-21SMT which can only be done in one or two sets of markings, but not do a MiG-
  7. Boy that is a BIG difference in the nose. The real question is; why even do this model since it was such a lemon to begin with, and there is such a need to do a MiG-21F in 1:48 I would much rather seen one of those.

    Eduard SU-27

Eduard usually lists their products in $US. I imagine it will be done the same way as the MiG-29UB was done. It is $102 http://www.eduard.com/store/Eduard/Plastic-kits/MiG-29UB-1-48.html?cur=2 Thank god I have no interest in the Su-27. It is bad enough I am salivating over the MiG-21MF Czech special addition for half that price. I think I will stay with my OEZ kits and Academy with the QuickBoost correction set. ALL of which I already have a plethora of. It is no small wonder this hobby is on its death-bed. It will most likely dye out with our generation. These prices might even speed it up. F
  9. Thanks for the hints. Anyone else with more tips?
  10. You have to admit, there is definitely a resemblance. If Chevy buyers only knew back than.
  11. Hello John, Thank you, I like the way you have your signature. I wonder if my list would fit if I did the same ting. I will try. Hay--- It Fits
  12. Here is a picture of some of the other space stuff. (since this is a space forum)
  13. The reason I redid the nose was because, if you take a look at any drawing; 1)the dimensions are wrong 2)the geometry is wrong 3)the kit parts are really, really, really badly molded and not even close to being round. 4) surface detail is WAY off. What you see in the background is a 1/144 LM. I did get the "Space Model Systems" decals for the capsule and will have to make something up for the launch vehicle. BTW FYI I also have a thread going for a 1/48 MiG-19 (HiPM) build in the Jet section. As most modelers, I am ADHD and am building about dozen things at the same time. Here is
  14. Here is my attempt at building the coupling section. Work in progress. I refuse to drill all the lightning holes in the former rings.
  15. Because I got tired of working on the same thing, I decided to start building my stage coupler section for the main rocket. Because this part will be removable, I decided to detail the inside with the proper "I" beam formers and stringers. The main tube is made out of clear Poly-Carbonate .062 thick. Here are some pictures of the real thing which I attempted to emulate.
  16. So I started to build the capsule. The nose cone is built out of paper and sealed with CA. There was a lot of work on making the hatches fit right and modifying the sections in front of the windows to be more prototypical of the space-worthy capsules. The hatches were also molded with holes in them that were caused by warn out molds.
  17. Heck---Iv'e had a better response just with the question here than with a whole thread of pictures over there. So here we go. Recently, within the lest couple of months i decided to get into Real Space Modeling. I have never done it before and have had some interest over the last couple of years. The CO of the first unit I was ever with, was for some time the assistant director of NASA back in the 90s, and we used to talk about him wanting to be an Astronaut back in the squadron (VMFA-235). This gave me some interest in these flying cigars. My first project was a "RealSpace" 1/144 Mercury
  18. I was posting on "Starship Modeler", but it was about a futile effort.
  19. Hi guys, I have been posting on another website about this project I am doing but that site is about DEAD. I feel that I am writing everything for myself. Is anyone here interested in this project on this site? Before I post anything here. I looked at the ATTIC models kit and it is just a BLOB of resin for $100+. So I decided to scratch build one. I have been taking pictures all threw the project and have quite a few to post if there is interest from more than two people, and i get some feedback. Otto
  20. I have never used photo etch on a cockpit dash. How do I assemble the multiple layers of pre-painted photo etch and film between all of them. I went on You-Tube and it wasn't any help. One guy showed how to place two layers together but I have three layers and film between each. What is the best glue to use besides CA? What is the best way to cut the film out? Etc. Etc. Anyone have a PowerPoint presentation or a video? Otto
  21. Here is a dry-fit of the fuselage. It is just taped together with Scotch tape. The holes you see inside the side of the cockpit, is where some of the lead shot will go after the cockpit walls are glued in. I require a total of about 35g in the nose. You can fit only about 20g in the front spliter. The hole behind the front wheel well is a clear window where the navigation antenna is. I can also place more lead shot in there in case I require more mass up front.
  22. In these two pictures of the real aircraft, you will find two unusual and interesting features of the MiG-19. On of them is the 45* swept pivot on the tail plane, and the other is the narrow spine on the Czech built aircraft over the thicker spine on the Russian built aircraft with Polish markings. Also look at the trailing edges of the tail planes where they meat the fuselage. You can see where Chevy got their idea for the tail fins on the 1959 Chevy
  23. Hello All, I am new here as of today. I used to build models as a kid but have not built models until I just got back into it a couple of weeks ago. I did build a few models a few years ago but that is it. As an adult, the HiPM 1/48 MiG-21UM was the first I built. Here is a picture of it. This is the first S-105 I will be building. Notice the short dorsal tail strake. As I said, I just got back ito model-building a couple of weeks ago, and started my Jet collection with the HiPM Kit #48-008 S-109/MiG-19S. It is a third generation short run kit as was common from eastern Europe in the mid
  24. i just discovered that in the last couple of weeks, "Pavla Models has come out with a wheelwell detail kit. I decided to just use the Eduard cockpit detail set but will also use the Pavla Wheelwell set also. The recommended 50g of nose mass I think is a bit much but about 35g is required. The hard part is finding a spot where to put it all. As a detail note; the cockpit color on the MiG-19 was a light gray for the Russian and Chinese built aircraft and a lite blue-gray on the Czech built aircraft almost identical, if not actually so, to RLM-76.
  25. Hi guys I just joined. I have muliples of the HiPM MiG-19S kit and i like it better than the Trumpeter kit. It is much more accurate in outline and a lot more fun to build. YES it is quite a bit more work but that is what I like because I will like the results more. One thing I noticed about the kit pictures in this thread is that it has detail in the wheel-wells which none of mine have, and I have all the variants of the kit. Did you put the detail in your self or is that molded in. I noticed the ejector pin mark and mine is lacking that also. Otto
