  1. warthoglvr ships very quickly! Very good experience. Would trade with him again.
  2. Have you been to the Museum of Science and Industry? They have a U-boat (U-505) you can tour and the thing is actually inside the building now! I think it's the only U-Boat in the USA. You can tour the inside also. For a modeling fan, it's a must see, lots of cool space stuff too. My personal favorite is the coal mine recreation. They also have planes hanging from the ceiling (spitfire and a stuka, maybe more) and the have a recreation of the Wright Flyer on special exhibit right now. Screw the dinosaurs at the "Field", go see the planes..... :P Here's a link: http://www.msichicago.org/
  3. Wow, they look great! How can I get my hands on those? I want to do my Hasegawa P-40 for the CBI/Pacific GB, and these would be great!
  4. You just get use to it. You know that smell when you walk into a body shop? Ya, I don't smell that anymore........
  5. Kei Lau is 100% correct. That's what I do with mine. I also clean my automotive guns the same way. Works great. You really only need to disassemble the brush every few times you use the thing. Don't get me wrong, you want to flush till it runs clean, but taking the brush apart after every color is totally unnecessary.
  6. Painting in the cold is not a good idea. Changes in the temp of the paint and what you put it on might adversely effect the finish. I just wouldn't do it. I paint cars for a living, and I know from experience that temperature and humidity changes during spraying and drying can lead to a whole host of problems such as solvent pop, blushing, lifting and worse, total paint failure. I just don't want to see you ruin something that you have put so much time and effort into. Again, I speak from experience, paint has screwed me plenty of times.
  7. I used the Microscale products, but have a bottle of Solvaset for those decals that just don't want to lay down. It is very touchy stuff though. You can easily ruin a decal with it if you're not patient. Just don't mess with it after application, no matter what it is doing. Let it work and come back to it tomorrow. Also use it sparingly, a little will go a long way.
  8. Of course not! It was the sixties and plus he was outside. I know old guys that paint cars professionally that still to this day won't use one.
  9. I looked at the link. The thing doesn't look right. Kinda thick. Wonky, for lack of a better term. I would not touch lindberg stuff unless I had no other option. I would rather throw my ten buck in the toilet.
  10. Well, kinda. There was aircraft that would have been produced, but never went into production because more time was available to further develop the technology said aircraft employed. So, Neu isn't wrong. It's just we never saw a set of aircraft that would have been production models instead of testbeds. Like, the Ryan Fireball/Dark Shark, and aircraft of that nature.
  11. Nice car AX. Also, your Signature is great!! How true, how true.....
  12. I think of Lindberg as more a toy company than a model company.
  13. I have the full Aires set for my Tamiya F-51D, and I must say, the detail is just fantastic. I have used other VP product, and they are not bad, but not quite up to the level of Aires. The VP stuff does tend to be a little more affordable, if that matters to you. To me, it all depends on how much you will see on the completed model, as to which one I would use. If you're just going to see a little bit of the innards, use the VP. If the whole engine will be exposed, I would go with the Aires stuff. Just my 2 cents.
  14. I don't think an exact term exists. When did the Luft '46 term even become part of the nomenclature? Who started that? Aaron, maybe you could make up names for other countries "on the cusp" aircraft. Then in 35 years, If someone on this forum asks, "Where did the (british 1946 term) come from?", I can say, Aaronw made it up.
  15. mungo is the best! Also adding land vehicles and stuff sounds like a cool idea to me.
  16. Oh god yes on the CBI. Please o please o please! I think you can guess the reason for my enthusieasm!
  17. I agree with Blunce and GreyGhost. Geez guys......
  18. I tried Warhammer 40,000 with my stepson. We bought a bunch of stuff and now have lost interest. Looking to sell or trade our stuff. If you are want to know what we have, PM me. We played as space marines and orks. Bob
