Both fine choices. Tough decision though. Both very cool. Guess you'll just have to do....both. ;) Welcome aboard!

thanks, but what is a "cat shot diorama"? I'd like a fairly large park deck (with tiedown points and chains) for a Super Hornet (open wings).
cheers
When the plane is loaded on the catapult and just about to take off....Cat Shot...

I would go with the F-104C, more interesting and the Phantom seems
more "common", the F-104 would have a uniqueness so to speak. Just my opinion.
Myself I am torn between the B-57 and a Thud.---John
The B-57 would fall into the "less common" category between those two, but the F-105 is such a cool airplane imho, tough choice.

Yes. I agree. The F-104 seems to be less "run of the mill". Starfighter it is. And surveying my work area has shown that building two 1/32 scale aircraft would require one being built on the floor, so that's out.

In addition to the Dragon M48A3, I might build a plane at the same time( ). I have a new Italeri 1/32 F-104C with some AM, and was thinking about doing that one. But now I happened into a Tamiya 1/32 F-4E with some AM goodies. I'm torn. Should I do both? Or will that lead to... .

Having spent 3 years in Viet Nam doing imagery analysis for the SR-71, RF-4C and Ryan BQM-34 Firebee drone, it is pretty much mandatory that I participate in this Group Build with at least one of those 3 machines. I am looking forward to the September start.
I'm voting for the SR-71.

I am using the kit tracks and I did use the supplied template. Everything has fit very well so far. I finished both sides of the tracks and have been able to leave one link unglued on each side and remove them for painting. Very builder friendly.

Working on my second armor build. Pretty straight forward so far. Really impressed with this kit. No issues at all...yet. Bob

Good to see everyone getting their ducks in a row for September. It's looking like the turnout will be quite sizable and nicely well rounded in terms of subject matter. Can't wait!

tosouthern66, I hope everything works out and you can get back sooner than later. We're going to miss you in the group build. Good luck and Godspeed.

Whif = what if... Something that isn't real world, like a VC F-4E or a US Su-27...
Gotcha.

Thanks Steve!

.So long as it's not a whiff it's fine.
Please Explain a Whiff.

How about firearms?
Besides tanks, ships, aircraft, armored vehicles some infantry weapons took part in the Vietnam War and made an impact to the soldiers on both sides.
The Soviet AK-47 and the American M-16 were both new weapons then and were first used in combat head-to-head in Southeast Asia.
Never thought about it, but I don't see why not. Fits the rules in my opinion.
