  1. Thanks Scoobs, that pretty much tracks with what limited info I found as well.
  2. Hi guys - I’m trying to figure out how to arm my Eduard FM-2 for the North Atlantic ASW mission. I’m having a hard time finding any information about how they were used and armed. Did they just carry external drop tanks or did they carry rockets as well? There seems to be lots of info on the late war wildcats in the pacific. Thanks for the help! Mike
  3. I am learning a bunch as well! Thanks for all the help guys!
  4. Thank you for all the help guys! This is really great stuff. I am going to be doing the ICM kit is 1/48 as soon as the last of the aftermarket arrives. And the Nimrods book will be here in a couple of days. Mike
  5. Hi folks! I have a few questions one the counter invader, mostly centered around weapons carriage. First off, was a standard MER used for carriage of the flares, illustrated on the outer wing station in this picture? The carriage device in the ICM kit looks like it wants to be a MER, but I wasn’t sure if this is a unique A-26 piece of hardware. Secondly, does anyone have info on what bombs were carried internally? Was it just WW2 era bombs or could standard MK82s be carried? I’m sure I’ll have more as I start working on the kit. Thanks for the help! mike
  6. Hello everyone! I found this picture during a routine search on F-4s in Vietnam. I'm just trying to figure out if this is an F-4C or F-4D. Thanks!
  7. Thanks Scout. I’ll be doing a vf-84 aircraft, so timeframe would be pre 1976, if that helps.
  8. Hello everyone- getting ready to move forward on this project and I had a quick follow up about the missile versions. Would the aim-9g/h and aim-7e be appropriate for an the f-4n? thanks in advance!
  9. Thanks for the help all. I think I’ll go with the air to air options. mike
  10. Hello All - Quick question on the HAF F-4E AUP carriage of the Lightning Pod. Is the same missile well adapter as used for the lightning pod as used on the F-4G to carry the ECM pods? Or is it similar enough that no one would notice in 1/48 scale? Thanks for the help!
  11. Hello all - Does anyone know what the typical weapons loads for navy F-4Ns were? Did they just fly fleet interceptor role so all Air to Air weapons or would there have been instances of air to ground? Maybe a training load out with inert air to ground weapons? I've had a hard time finding any definitive photos with any armament loaded. I have some decals for VF-84 F-4N that I was thinking of using on a Tamiya F-4N (converted from the F-4B). Don't know - thoughts? Thanks Mike
  12. Do the 36270 areas have the metallic sheen as well? Thanks for the help!
  13. Hi Everyone! Does anyone know if there are any companies out there that make custom decals. I have tried my hand at home made decals and so far it has been less then a stellar showing. Thanks for the help Mike
  14. Nice looking Superbugs! Really fantastic job. Did you find the GBU-38s from AMK and the Eduard GBU-53 to be the same length? I have a variety of different manufacturer's GBU-38s and none are the same length as the Eduard GBU-53. Easy fix, I just needed to pick up some Eduard thermal coated -38s, but curious about the AMK renditions. Mike
  15. Perfect! Thanks for the assist. Mike
  16. Hello! I am looking to start a F-4S project and was thinking of arming it up with inert training bombs. I wanted to use the Mk-82s with the BSU-86 high drag tail, but I am not able to determine when the BSU-86 came into the Navy's inventory. I've included a picture of the mk-82 i'm looking to use below. Thanks for the help Mike
  17. I always go with aftermarket resin. Phase Hanger and Quickboost are my usual choices. I’m not a fan of the photoetch harnesses in the other brands. mike
  18. Awesome! Thanks for the info. On a side note - I have a Hasegawa F-4G with some aftermarket goodies that I'm looking to sell. If anyone is interested please send me a PM! 😆
  19. Hi all - I currently have the ZM F-4C, F-4D, F-4E, F-4S and an inbound F-4J (in case my Academy F-4J goes sideways on me). Can you guys tell me which of these has the mis-shapen rear fuselage? For some reason I thought it was just the F-4S. Thanks Mike
  20. If anyone is interested you can see all the work I had to do to correct the fit issues on the Hasegawa F-15C. Not trying to hijack the post, just provide info so people can make an educated decision. It still stares down at me from the SOD... Mike's F-15C Aggressor The intake gaps were a particularly intense nightmare.
  21. Good Evening everyone - I have a quick question about the colors of MERs and TERs during the Vietnam War. Navy carried items were obviously white, but I am having a hard time determining the color of the USAF ones. In all the photos I have, they appear to be the same underside gray as the F-4Es. Is this correct or are they white for the USAF also? Thanks for the help! Mike
  22. Thanks everyone! This was very helpful. Does Hasegawa have the only one available in 1/48 scale? Seems like an opportunity for the aftermarket guys considering the Tamiya F-4B's popularity. Thanks again Mike
  23. Hello all! I am hoping someone can help me identify the pod on the centerline of this phantom. Looks like a gun pod to me, but defiantly not a SUU-23. I appreciate any help! Thanks Mike
