  1. I'm looking for a full or partial set of Linden Hill 1/32 Su-27 Flanker 'Guardians of the North' Decals. Specifically I'm looking for the markings for Blue 36 and/or Blue 41 (The little black circle with the owl/hawk outlined in white holding a missile and the 'star medal' decal with red syrillic writing to the right of it). Please send me a PM or email to dsahling1@yahoo.com Thanks Dan
  2. I'm looking a set (or partial) of Linden Hill 1/32 Su-27 Flanker 'Guardians of the North' Decals, specifically I'm looking for the small black circle with the owl/hawk outlined in white and the decal that looks like 'star medal' with some red cyrillic writing to the right of it (the markings used for Blue 36/41). Please send me a PM or email to dsahling1@yahoo.com. Thanks Dan

  6. Hey Chuck, nice to see you back over here. I appreciate all your documentation as it really helped me put together a stunning Tamiya 1/32 F-15C (I've got to get a new camera before I take photos so it'll be a little while, but I'll get around to it). I know you've still got a ways to go on this one, but I think usually, you tend to alternate jet/prop. Since I know you enjoy trying new techniques and subjects, have you ever thought about an Su-27 Flanker? It's a bit of a departure from some of your other projects, but I'd love to see what you do with a Flanker, they're usually heavily weathered (especially up north) and as such they make for very interesting camouflage and airbrushing challenges. Just a thought, looking forward to seeing how the Spitfire progresses.

    Su-27 Flanker Photo DVD?

I'm looking for a DVD by Sergey Archakov that contains about 900 photos of the Su-27 Flanker....first question does anyone know if it contains photos of Red 07/Blue 38 from Kilp Yavr? If so does anyone have a copy they would either be willing to make to sell? Or send me the photos of Red 07/Blue 38 (if it contains them?) Thanks Dan

    Su-27 Flanker Photo DVD?

Damn, I've got some photos of it when it was Red 07 that have helped a little but its from far away and very difficult to precisely determine some of the camouflage demarcation lines but I just need 1-2 good photos that clearly show the upper surfaces....sadly I'm running out of reference photos...

    KA Models aftermarket parts

It'd be reallynnice if they upscaled those to 1/32....
  10. Does anyone have photos of the upper surface camouflage of the Su -27SM Flanker ‘Red 64’? And can anyone provide a list of details that differentiate the SM version of flankers? Thanks Dan

    Yefim Gordon Contact Info?

I was trying to get ahold of Yefim Gordon to see if he has some reference photos of a plane I'm searching for, I tried emailing a publisher that was potentially connected with him but I haven't received a reply and was wondering if anyone here was friends/acquaintances with him (or knew how to get in touch with him) and would be willing to provide me his email address or at least send a message on my behalf if you're not comfortable giving out his email. Please either respond here or send me a PM. Thanks Dan
  12. I’m looking for a back issue of Hobbyworld Magazine No. 9 01/2001 it apparently has an article about the Su-27 Flankers from Kilp Yavr. If anyone has this issue and can scan the photos, Im specifically looking for the Su-27 numbered ‘Red 07’ or would be willing to sell it I would be most grateful. Please send me a PM or email dsahling1@yahoo.com. Thanks Dan

    Masking over decals

Give future a solid 48-72 hours to cure and even better is Tamiya x-22 clear. And try using Tamiya yellow or kabuki tape which works good and is low tac

    Masking over decals

Make sure you use Microsol or Walthers Solvaset and its over a well-cured gloss coat (I like Tamiya Clear X-22) (test Walthers before applying on a decals/big decal cause sometimes it'll literally melt the decal), give the decals several days to thoroughly dry, and then seal the decals after its really dried well after a couple days with some more Tamiya X-22, this will also make the carrier film border harder to see. 15. Ive recently acquired a set of Linden Hill 'Flankers on Patrol: Guardians of the North' Decals in 1/32 scale and I'm interested in taking another crack at my old favorite plane...the Su-27 Flanker 'Blue 38' with the 'Evil Eye' painted on it from the 941st GvIAP based out of Kilp Yavr Airbase. While I've acquired quite a few photos of this weathered beauty (it puts US Navy planes to shame) I can't find any depicting the original camouflage scheme from the top (the Linden Hill instructions aren't entirely accurate) it seems like whenever I find a photo of it the top portion can't be seen! If anyone has access to these photos PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know, PM, email, etc. dsahling1@yahoo.com Thanks Dan
  16. Thanks for you help Andrey, I do have these photos but I appreciate the effort. I was lucky enough to get in contact with Andrey Zinchuk and I'm hoping he may have some photos of 'Blue 38/Red 07' I've been looking for years for photos that show the camouflage pattern and I've come fairly close. Using all the photos I have I've been able to 'recreate' what I think it would be based off subtle traces of what I think are the outlines of the demarcation lines but its by no means definitive...all I need are one or two really good photos from above before it started to weather away...this is what bad modeling OCD will do to you.. 🙂
  17. So I'm trying to research a particular Su-27 Flanker subject and think I may have found some pretty good photos of it but I'm not entirely sure its the right plane I'm looking at...Anyways, my question is, are the dielectric panels (they come in two colors, white and green) on the tips of the vertical stabilzers and the leading edge of the right vertical stabilizer interchangeable? Meaning could you switch out green for white? or does the whole stabilizer need to be replaced? Thanks Dan
  18. Hi, does anyone here happen to know an aviation photographer named Andrey Zinchuk I was hoping to contact him to see if he may have some reference photos of a plane I’m going to model. Or if you’re not comfortable sharing his email would you so kind as to forward a message to him on my behalf? Thanks Dan

  20. I'm looking for any of the Linden Hill 1/32 Su-27 Flankers on Patrol Decal sets (full or partial) from either I, II, or III. Please let me know via PM if you have them. Thanks Dan
  21. So I'm currently working on a 1/32 A-1H Skyraider that was flown by Dieter Dengler. Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot in the way of reference photos (at least that I've been able to find). To the best of my knowledge he was flying some type of 'armed reconnaissance' mission, does anyone know what type of loadout that would be? Photos of his plane or others that flew the same type of mission would be much appreciated. Thanks Dan

    36375/36320 Comparisons?

I used to drive myself crazy over the right colors, but heres the deal I came to settle on: Paints will weather differently, different batches will have differing levels of tint/contrast, differing levels of light from the sun make colors look lighter or different, the type of film used, editing software for photos, the list goes on and on. The best thing I ultimately settled on was, if you find a good "match" stick with it, theres also an app called imodelkit or something like that which shows you how you how to mix equivalent colors with different brands (i.e. supposed you found a good color with Model Master but don't like their brand, the app will show you how to mix it with Tamiya or Mr. Hobby, etc. I use heavily thinned whites, or light versions of the base color to adjust the "tint" to my reference photos I also use blues, greens, grey, etc depending on the base color to add interest and accuracy to it. I find this "imperfect" method works a lot better and gives better and more realistic finishes after its all done.
