  1. Title says it all, I'm looking to acquire a Zactoman 1/32 Su-27 canopy set for a double Flanker project coming up soon, please send a PM. Thanks Dan

  3. Hi, does anyone here happen to know an aviation photographer named Andrey Zinchuk I was hoping to contact him to see if he may have some reference photos of a plane I’m going to model. Or if you’re not comfortable sharing his email would you so kind as to forward a message to him on my behalf? Thanks Dan
  4. Ive recently acquired a set of Linden Hill 'Flankers on Patrol: Guardians of the North' Decals in 1/32 scale and I'm interested in taking another crack at my old favorite plane...the Su-27 Flanker 'Blue 38' with the 'Evil Eye' painted on it from the 941st GvIAP based out of Kilp Yavr Airbase. While I've acquired quite a few photos of this weathered beauty (it puts US Navy planes to shame) I can't find any depicting the original camouflage scheme from the top (the Linden Hill instructions aren't entirely accurate) it seems like whenever I find a photo of it the top portion can't be seen! If anyone has access to these photos PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know, PM, email, etc. dsahling1@yahoo.com Thanks Dan
  5. I'm looking for any of the Linden Hill 1/32 Su-27 Flankers on Patrol Decal sets (full or partial) from either I, II, or III. Please let me know via PM if you have them. Thanks Dan
  6. I used to drive myself crazy over the right colors, but heres the deal I came to settle on: Paints will weather differently, different batches will have differing levels of tint/contrast, differing levels of light from the sun make colors look lighter or different, the type of film used, editing software for photos, the list goes on and on. The best thing I ultimately settled on was, if you find a good "match" stick with it, theres also an app called imodelkit or something like that which shows you how you how to mix equivalent colors with different brands (i.e. supposed you found a good color with Model Master but don't like their brand, the app will show you how to mix it with Tamiya or Mr. Hobby, etc. I use heavily thinned whites, or light versions of the base color to adjust the "tint" to my reference photos I also use blues, greens, grey, etc depending on the base color to add interest and accuracy to it. I find this "imperfect" method works a lot better and gives better and more realistic finishes after its all done.
  7. So I'm currently working on a 1/32 A-1H Skyraider that was flown by Dieter Dengler. Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot in the way of reference photos (at least that I've been able to find). To the best of my knowledge he was flying some type of 'armed reconnaissance' mission, does anyone know what type of loadout that would be? Photos of his plane or others that flew the same type of mission would be much appreciated. Thanks Dan

  9. You guys make some great decal sheets but unfortunately they're VERY hard to come by...I say re-release some older sheets in 1/48th and 1/32nd, particularly VF-31and VF-101, and basically other F-14D squadrons. What about a sheet with markings from the F-14s that were involved with actual air-to-air combat. Oh, and PLEASE do a sheet with the original VF-1 and VF-2 Squadrons when the F-14 was first introduced circa 1972.
  10. Hi Dave I tried emailing you a couple times, I sent the $80 via PayPal for the Tamiya 1/32 F-4C/D Phantom but haven’t heard from you. Just wanted to check you got the money and have my address.
  11. Looks very nice! Anyone know anything about them upscaling this to 1/32 scale? Since I just bought the old kit and a whole bunch of aftermarket items you know that will be the case. 🙂
  12. Title says it all, I'm looking for a pair of 1/32 F-16 Non-bulged main landing gear bay doors, preferably Tamiya but really any manufacturer will do. I'm looking to do a 1/32 F-16B from 'Iron Eagle' in the near future and would really appreciate some help. Send a PM if possible. Thanks Dan
  13. Title says it all I’m looking for a teknics 1/32 f-14d tomcat conversion kit...please send a PM and/or respond here.ThanksDan
  14. Anyone have any photos of an F-14D (preferably from VF-31) showing the bomb load outs used during OIF/OEF? I heard about a load out that put 2 GBU-16 and 2 GBU-32 'criss-crossed' on the phoenix pylons, anyone have any photos of these? Also can anyone suggest a good reference book, ala Jake Melampy for the F-14? Thanks Dan
  15. Experiment with different paints, thinness of said paint, low psi for thinner paints, and just experiment, you can also use the base color to 'trim up' or 'knock back' a camouflage pattern and get it how you want it. Really though free handing takes practice but will yield much better results than anything else for masking.
  16. You can always experiment...sheet and strips of styrene could work, thin brass is also an idea although can be harder to work with. Another option would be the foil found on wine bottles and then use some type of template from spare parts, scribing templates, etc to use to "bend out" or "press" the louvres into shape/position.
  17. The title pretty much says it, I'm looking for a set EagleCals 32-142 'Big Beautiful Doll' Decals, or even a partial/used set that still has the markings for 'Big Beautiful Doll' on it. Send me a PM if you would like to work out a deal. Thanks Dan

  19. I really like the idea of the bulkhead to help correctly fit the new radome. Any thoughts on doing the same for the Su-27 Flanker?
  20. Just use your eye for the colors and contrast, these things get covered in grime, dirt, bleached from the sun, they also don't always use the paints you think they would (I believe).
  21. I'm looking to buy the Zotz Decals 32-049 A1H-Skyraider decals, even if its a partial sheet as long as it has the markings for the plane with the 'Green Stripe' unused. Send me a PM Thanks Dan
  22. Try using Mr Color Thinner (its a synthetic lacquer, read: lacquer) that works great to clean up most acrylic and lacquer based paints. I'll use it to clean out Testors Acrylic Model Master, Tamiya acrylics, Alclad, Mr Color and Mr Hobby. About the only thing it ends up "gumming up" are Vallejo Paints (just use their thinner and water for clean up if thats what you use).
  23. I'm going to be doing a Hasegawa 1/32 FW-190A8 'Black 12' most of the markings I can find masks for, but I've been looking for a while without luck for a decal that goes on the cowling in 1/32 that looks like a light blue shield with a black and white knight's helmet on it. Does anyone know where to get one, i.e. a specific decal sheet or have an extra they'd be willing to part with? Shoot me a PM with a response. Thanks Dan
  24. You guys should really do another run of those 'Flankers on Patrol' Parts I, II, III, there's not a lot of 1/32 Flanker decals out there, and yours were very good quality. I'd definitely pick up a couple sets to keep on hand.
  25. Thanks so much for checking with your friend, it’s be a huge help if he has other photos or of the top and right side/wing.
