  1. Unless you're entering it in a competition or just hate seams, just airbrush it it light layers and go SLOW, I don't usually worry about intakes not being perfect for two reasons. 1.) You really don't see them unless you look directly into them. 2.) Intakes will usually be quite dirty, so a little uneven painting can actually help the look a little bit.
  2. Looking damn good there!!! Can't wait to see some more color on it soon!!!
  3. I'm curious if anyone can shed some light on why Tamiya is not really releasing any new jet aircraft in the 1/48th and 1/32nd scale?. Was it because of the Tsunami? It seems Trumpeter is exploding with new 1/32nd scale jets these days...Is there just not a lot of demand? Seems like with the advent of CAD design and however they did the Mustang that they've got a great method going...
  4. Everybody's different when it comes to weathering, personally I think overdoing it a bit can be beneficial for a model especially because you or others often look at it from a bit of a distance and that way the weathering stands out more.
  5. So for the next project I'm doing I decided to use the zactoman su-27 canopy correction. I've never worked with vacuuformed canopies before, does anyone have any suggestions, tips, techniques, etc.? Is a good idea to essentially mask off the area that you want for the finished canopy and slowly cut/sand from there? In separating the front windscreen from the main canopy I was think of putting several layers of masking tape between the two and then taking an xacto blade and slowly cut/separate the two. Any thoughts?
  6. This is gonna be a stunner!!! Can't wait to see some paint on it.
  7. It would probably be tricky, but you could get lots of the verlinden detail set into the kinetic. The toughest, yet by far one of the coolest looking elements is the boarding ladder. Only catch is because its designed for the Revell kit, the actual ladder is wider than the kinetic kit, but some careful cutting and filing should be able to fix it.
  8. Really nice work, the weathering is great just subtle enough, how did you do the weathering on the bomb?
  9. Nice looking work so far! Hopefully one day (AHEM!!!) Trumpeter, Tamiya, or Hasegawa will make one of these beauties in 1/48th or 1/32nd scale!!!

Nicely done! Makes me want to build a phantom next
  11. Time to stock up on Gull Grey and Flat White!!!!
  12. Title says it all, I'm about to start a new 1/32nd Su-27, and I've got a couple possibilities for the colors, but was wondering if anyone has a specific mix/ratio for FS 35550 in the Gunze Mr. Color paint line, its the pale blue-grey (lightest color). Thanks Dan
  13. Stellar paint job there, looks great, did you freehand the camo?
  14. Really great looking tomcat, the weathering is fantastic
  15. But if anyone has photos of the top of the plane, that would be great Thanks so much Dan
  16. My next project is a heavily weathered su-27 from the kilp yavr airbase. I specifically want to do 'blue 38' I have a few reference photos of the sides
  17. I'm interested in acquiring the 1/32nd Guardians of the North Decals, I'm specifically looking for "Red 07" (Which was given a new number of 38) If anyone has these decals or knows where I can pick them up please let me know, or shoot me a PM. Thanks Dan

  19. I used Mr. Color paints, however, unfortunately I don't have any mixing ratios, I just mixed until they looked about right. I think in the instructions it might list some paints for model master, etc. I could check those if you'd like. Dan
  20. Finished this one up back in the winter, thought I'd share, it was my first time experimenting with the 'scale' effect of painting, and I think for some colors/camos, especially those that have very close colors it helps to draw some contrast. Enjoy!
  21. Love this camouflage scheme, now hopefully one day Trumpeter will release a 1/32nd EA-6B!!!! I feel I overdid the weathering somewhat, but this was one of the first times I experimented with washes and weathering. Enjoy!
  22. I finished this one last fall, I want to take some better photos, but in the meantime enjoy!
  23. I stumbled across something really interesting this evening. In the Begemot instructions for SU-30s, it lists FS 35190 as the blue, so I mixed it according to the help I got from JasonW, however, I looked at it, sprayed it, and it just seemed WAY too dark, yet it matched up EXACTLY to the FS color chip, could the instructions have been THAT far off? Hmmm, so I looked at some of the Adversary F-16Bs that use this same color, but they seemed MUCH brighter, almost turquoise, just like the flanker. So I was confused, but then I held my painted part VERY close to my desk lamp light, and presto!
  24. Thanks for the link Jason, they do have a mix for it there! It's for an SU-30MKI prototype that I'm working on, I might have to lighten it for 'scale effect'
