  1. So I'm currently working on a 1/32 A-1H Skyraider that was flown by Dieter Dengler. Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot in the way of reference photos (at least that I've been able to find). To the best of my knowledge he was flying some type of 'armed reconnaissance' mission, does anyone know what type of loadout that would be? Photos of his plane or others that flew the same type of mission would be much appreciated. Thanks Dan
  2. You guys make some great decal sheets but unfortunately they're VERY hard to come by...I say re-release some older sheets in 1/48th and 1/32nd, particularly VF-31and VF-101, and basically other F-14D squadrons. What about a sheet with markings from the F-14s that were involved with actual air-to-air combat. Oh, and PLEASE do a sheet with the original VF-1 and VF-2 Squadrons when the F-14 was first introduced circa 1972.
  3. Hi Dave I tried emailing you a couple times, I sent the $80 via PayPal for the Tamiya 1/32 F-4C/D Phantom but haven’t heard from you. Just wanted to check you got the money and have my address.
  4. Looks very nice! Anyone know anything about them upscaling this to 1/32 scale? Since I just bought the old kit and a whole bunch of aftermarket items you know that will be the case. 🙂
  5. Title says it all, I'm looking for a pair of 1/32 F-16 Non-bulged main landing gear bay doors, preferably Tamiya but really any manufacturer will do. I'm looking to do a 1/32 F-16B from 'Iron Eagle' in the near future and would really appreciate some help. Send a PM if possible. Thanks Dan
  6. Title says it all I’m looking for a teknics 1/32 f-14d tomcat conversion kit...please send a PM and/or respond here.ThanksDan
  7. Anyone have any photos of an F-14D (preferably from VF-31) showing the bomb load outs used during OIF/OEF? I heard about a load out that put 2 GBU-16 and 2 GBU-32 'criss-crossed' on the phoenix pylons, anyone have any photos of these? Also can anyone suggest a good reference book, ala Jake Melampy for the F-14? Thanks Dan
  8. Experiment with different paints, thinness of said paint, low psi for thinner paints, and just experiment, you can also use the base color to 'trim up' or 'knock back' a camouflage pattern and get it how you want it. Really though free handing takes practice but will yield much better results than anything else for masking.
  9. You can always experiment...sheet and strips of styrene could work, thin brass is also an idea although can be harder to work with. Another option would be the foil found on wine bottles and then use some type of template from spare parts, scribing templates, etc to use to "bend out" or "press" the louvres into shape/position.
  10. The title pretty much says it, I'm looking for a set EagleCals 32-142 'Big Beautiful Doll' Decals, or even a partial/used set that still has the markings for 'Big Beautiful Doll' on it. Send me a PM if you would like to work out a deal. Thanks Dan

  12. I really like the idea of the bulkhead to help correctly fit the new radome. Any thoughts on doing the same for the Su-27 Flanker?
  13. Just use your eye for the colors and contrast, these things get covered in grime, dirt, bleached from the sun, they also don't always use the paints you think they would (I believe).
  14. I'm looking to buy the Zotz Decals 32-049 A1H-Skyraider decals, even if its a partial sheet as long as it has the markings for the plane with the 'Green Stripe' unused. Send me a PM Thanks Dan
  15. Try using Mr Color Thinner (its a synthetic lacquer, read: lacquer) that works great to clean up most acrylic and lacquer based paints. I'll use it to clean out Testors Acrylic Model Master, Tamiya acrylics, Alclad, Mr Color and Mr Hobby. About the only thing it ends up "gumming up" are Vallejo Paints (just use their thinner and water for clean up if thats what you use).
  16. I'm going to be doing a Hasegawa 1/32 FW-190A8 'Black 12' most of the markings I can find masks for, but I've been looking for a while without luck for a decal that goes on the cowling in 1/32 that looks like a light blue shield with a black and white knight's helmet on it. Does anyone know where to get one, i.e. a specific decal sheet or have an extra they'd be willing to part with? Shoot me a PM with a response. Thanks Dan
  17. You guys should really do another run of those 'Flankers on Patrol' Parts I, II, III, there's not a lot of 1/32 Flanker decals out there, and yours were very good quality. I'd definitely pick up a couple sets to keep on hand.
  18. Thanks so much for checking with your friend, it’s be a huge help if he has other photos or of the top and right side/wing.
  19. So I recently received the Trumpeter 1/32 MiG-29 9-12 Fulcrum as a Christmas gift and started the fun job of doing some research on potential subjects. While I've been considering the standard scheme or a German Luftwaffe camouflage. I stumbled across this photo of 'Red 04' (link below), but sadly I haven't been able to find any additional photos on Airliners.net or any other sites. Does anyone have any more photos of this place, especially the camouflage of the right side/top? http://www.airliners.net/photo/Russia-Air-Force/Mikoyan-Gurevich-MiG-29-9-12/2508438/L?qsp=eJwtjEEKwkA

  21. Does anyone have a Cobra Company 1/35th Mi-24 Hind Cockpit available? PM me for further dealings. thanks Dan
  22. So I'm getting ready to enter the painting stage (my absolute favorite) of an F-15C I've been intricately detailing for the past few months. While I have the appropriate Mod Eagle colors in Model Master and Aeromaster I was just wondering about the Mr. Paint set for the Mod Eagle. How accurate are the colors? (Any photos of a Mod Eagle done with their brand would be great) I feel like I've heard Mr. Paint is an acrylic lacquer (similar to Mr. Color) and that it has a strong chemical odor, is this true? Do they have a regular acrylic version of their paints? If so, do they spray well?
  23. When I started to get back into this hobby about 6 years ago I did something similar and went with a "starter airbrush" set up. Now if you feel like hobby is something you really enjoy and want to get back in to I would say go with something more high quality. The airbrush I would recommend is the Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Silverline 2 in 1 (It's about $180-200, but worth every cent, well made, easy to clean, fix/instal new nozzles) and I personally would recommend a silentaire compressor (The loud noise of most standard compressors drives me nuts, they are pricey but WELL worth it, e
  24. The Vallejo thinner very well may include those two products I just don't frequently use Vallejo much. I used them on one project without the flow improver and had a hell of a time getting them to spray properly. However, I live in Denver, CO at 5280 ft. with the altitude, humidity, pressure are much different and certain paints are difficult to work with. I used to use Mr Color Lacquer but after a while the fumes just got to be too much in an apartment even with an exhaust fan (I'll still use them for Luftwaffe WWII subjects that require mottling camouflage because they work
  25. Be SURE to use only Vallejo thinner and also their "flow improver" product for acrylic paints (it can actually be used with most other types of acrylic paints with great effect, I can vouch for Testors Model Master, Taimya, and Mr Hobby; it prevents paint from drying and clogging up the airbrush nozzle/tip).
