  1. Simply incredible Chuck!!!! I have followed along....didnt really don on me its been 9 months in the making. Personally I would pay 15-20 bucks for an all inclusive paperback version of your build thread of this....you should look into it. I agree with tourist and am putting in my official request of ONE pic of that beauty with a WW2 backdrop. Thank you for all your extra effort in the build thread :worship:/>
  2. Too look, I love stuff like this! Can't wait to see it all done.
  3. Well, I couldnt handle the lack of shape to the top of the engine cowling. The actual aircraft has a definate hump to the top of the cowling for the air intake and valvecovers. So I revamped the engine cowling with 2 more layers of 060 cardstock, some filing sanding and putty.....then more sanding and filing and primer. Also finaly placed the windscreen, and a bit of putty around it. Also sanded the prop and spinner and painted with Krylon in prep for Alclad.
  4. Well its all in primer finally. Still a ways to go, lots of sanding and filling of small imperfections, but at least the basic shape is done. Next up the canopy and maybe start detailing the engine finally. I am hoping once the engine is in place it will pull the engine cowling in tight and close up the gaps.
  5. Awesome build, two of my most favorite aircraft, ever since I was a kid!!! Good luck, and have fun Paulo!
  6. Thanks Niels, I have seen pics of some D models with D-day stripes and no fin fillet, and i am thinking 3956 never had the red rudder or swept nose. I think he had already bellied this plane in before they were added, and I am just taking a bit of creative license with no fillet, as I want a 1/24 on my shelf without one.
  7. Bit more work done on the engine cowling. Adding some putty to all my mods, hope to be sanding again tomorrow.
  8. A bit of work done this weekend. Finished the landing gear, and a bunch of work on the office. My first real attempt at painting a pilot in this scale...pretty tough, I cant imagine the smaller scales. He does look a bit grey though, may have to do something about that.
  9. Really really nice Chuck!!!! Question, how much will clearing change the alclad? Keep up the amazing work. :thumbsup:/>
  10. Here is a quick one I did. I will throw it on my sig, for now.....Unless everybody absolutely hates it....LOL
  11. This is awesome!!! I knew it was a lunker...and yes, great tribute to the great "H"!
  12. Well if this manages to ring a bell....My original intent for this aircraft was a 1/24 Airfix kit, that is currently in the "in-progress" section. But then I managed to score one of these Hobby Craft kits. It is a reboxing of the Trumpeter from what I understand. It is a fabulous kit in my opinion, much nicer and more detailed than the Airfix. Two major problems that I am going to have to live with though, as I have not been able to come up with an easy solution for. The canopy is just horrible (of all things), and it has the perverbial slanting back wall in the wheel wells. I have decid
  13. Sweet, Ax, bet that's a lunker on 1/32. Thanks PNW, I will post up tonight! ...and good luck Matt!
  14. How done can it be? I have a 1/24 Hobby Craft P-51D I have started, that I haven't posted on ARC. Engine, cockpit, prop and landing gear started, but nothing finished up?
  15. Well the nose is trying to take shape, and went ahead and installed the gear doors, so they can help with the flow of the engine cowling.
  16. Well, I finally did the correcting in the radiator exhaust area (adding the duct side and top panels, that are omited in these kits), then painted up the radiator, and gave it its new home and buttoned up the fuselage. I still have to build the same little box on my MustangIV build for the oil cooler and put it in place. So with the fuselage buttoned up finally I went ahead and attatched the empennage, and wings. Plenty of glue, supported the wing tips and put a nice hunk of weight smack dab on the top of the cockpit and left her overnight. Yup....added a touch more of that ever missing di
  17. Thanks a bunch, nope not kidding. He is aware, not 100% certain he has seen it yet though. Thanks for looking in, its been very challenging so far....I have this feeling....ehhh I better not say it out loud. :blink:/> :woot.gif:/>
  18. Its right next to my ME-262 canopy that went missing within 2 minutes of opening the box :bandhead2: :bandhead2:
  19. Thanks for sticking around Shawn. Port sidewall done, and a quick fit of the fus halves. Also built a hinge for the canopy. On to the dog house, some correcting to do there as well as mods particular to Precious Metal.
  20. Thanks HOLMES, very much. Bit of a mock up...
  21. Thanks USMC, Well todays accomplishment...and I am beat HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLKS!!!!
  22. Thanks Shawn, yes it does, cant wait to see it with the Alclad on it. OK well....guess I will let the pics speak for themselves Big dent I think, but a long way to go yet.
