  1. Nifty video!!!!! Now.....if they can just keep my wife's cell phone call from dropping when she swivels in her chair....
  2. Wow, I just realized this thread was available. My father crewed and painted this racecar in 1972 when I was 6 years old. This car had an enormous effect on my entire life, my passion for cars and racing. BTW I still have the original of this photo that I have had since 1972. I started this model technically when I was probaly about 14, it stayed stashed in my model junk. It went to Florida while I was in the Air Force, and traveled back at my separation from active duty. It survived many many moves, children, and a divorce. It started as a kit bash of the Monogram 55 Chevy body and t
  3. Lots of great advise here. But my primary thing is.... If you want to preserve the detail that the model company has so painstakingly put in and on your model (and don't forget that you have paid for) than an airbrush is the only way to go. (Of course supplemened by brush work) You won't regret it, but don't buy cheap. Remember, just because this is a hobby, doesn't mean there isn't a little "work" from time to time. Usually that is maintaining your equipment, trust me you will see a marked improvement in your modeling. I personally use MM and standard Testors enamels and some spray b
  4. Well here is the back story. Most every vehicle my father has ever owned, he has put his signature on it, in some form or another. Whether it be, loud exhaust, chrome rims, custom paint, or a combo of all. In about 1972 he purchased a wrecked 1955 Chevrolet Series 1 Pick up. He repaired it, and gave it all of the above modifications to his liking. Fast forward 2 years (1974) and my parents decide they would like a 1930 Model A Sedan, so my uncle in L.A. comes up with one to trade for the truck. Well this weekend my father calls me and proclaims that my uncle has contacted him about purch
  5. Take Bonneville, Edwards AFB, and Cape Canavral, mix them up and you have Reno. There is only one way to race and win and that's find the limit, and then find a new one, because I guarantee you the guy next to you is doing the same thing. Sure more testing may have shown a potential problem, but who is going to confine a racer to its test parameters, and guarantee it won't exceed those parameters during the heat of battle on the race course? The shame of this deal is the poor maintenance, and a few bad modifications. But there is only one way to go faster, and that is to go faster....
  6. Now that wasnt even nice......TEASE

  11. OK, I will bite.... Printer, HP psc 1210 all-in-one, standard inks. Testors 9201 Clear decal kit and Testors 9202 White decal kit Overcoated with Testors 9200 Decal Bonder Vinyl Master Pro, Professional Sign Vinyl Decal Designing and Plotting Program, sometimes I supplement with Microsoft Picture-It when needed. All the decals on these are using this combo, exactly as instructions direct. Cleared with Rustoleum Crystal Clear Enamel 7701. And this was the dry run (I always do a dry run on paper to verify size, placement on decal paper, and any other details) for the Spitf

  13. Oh, and this is what I have to start with for the wheel wells...
  14. Thanks again HOLMES, and Allan. By using the technique I am, any gaps at the wing root are eliminated. I good dry run is required though in hopes that doing it this way all the gun barrel ports still line up....they did in this case. Thanks Kev, Well its all closed up...(chock up a few more grey hairs to this particular portion of the build)...I have left the engine area loose as I am going to be working on the main landing gear wells and figure the engine would be in the way. A few cockpit views... And a view of the tail and belly scoop exhaust area. I am still on the fenc

  16. I got an idea....why not use that (I mean OUR) money to find a truly safe and AFFORDABLE way to get to and from work......
  17. Well its been a while since an update and some progress. I had spent some time spraying a test panel with various enamels and alclad lacquers in preparation for this builds NMF and my first try at that. And some research regarding the tail landing gear well and radiator exhaust ducting. So with a bit of knowledge, a bit of ambition, a bit of plasticard, and a bit of blind luck, I tore into some scratch building on this Mustang. My test panel... My attempt at dolling up the radiator exhaust and tali gear well... Oh, and the beginning of adding a main spar to the wings to get the dih
