  1. Thanks tourist you are a gentleman and a P-51 Scholar.
  2. Thanks tourist! Any opinion on the gun bays?
  3. Big, check my P-51D "Jan" thread for the painted area of the cockpit, and I have seen pics showing the engine cradle both zinc chromate yellow or green. The main wing spar I believe was zinc chromate yellow, and the balance of the air frame was unpainted aluminum. As far as the gun bays, I am unsure, I hope tourist will chime in with any corrections, and some advice on the gun bays.
  4. ^^^^^^^^^^^ HAHAHA, YUP, ya nailed it!!!! Except my model building confidence is taking a huge hit without his usual high praises.... Where are ya HOLMES, ol buddy?
  5. Thought I would post this up here. And "tourist" feel free to critique. I know the old Revell 1/32 kits are probably the most inaccurate out there, but its what I tend to build. Anyway the focus of my post is the ejector ports on the B/C vs. D model Mustang wings. Just FYI... (Not sure if the A models are the same as the B/C) P.S. Tourist, what was the primary reason for the reshaping of the leading egde of the wing root on the D?
  6. Thanks, tourist....THAT WOULD BE AN AWESOME BUILD!!
  7. Well I have been wanting to make a What-if Night Fighter P-51 Mustang. I scored this old Revell "Smithsonian" P-51D, and I just dig these old kits. I am going to fix up the cockpit a bit by scratch building a proper "D" model seat and armor, and an internal fuel tank and radio/battery rack. I am also going to correct the belly scoop exhaust door, and radiator. Here is a preliminary sketch of the all flat black paint scheme with D-Day Stripes, and the red nose of the 334th. And the kit... I have actually accomplished a bit on this over the past couple of days, here are a few pics of
  8. "Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue."
  9. Too cool, glad you decided to post it up.
  10. ....I cant....I just cant.... Might as well take them all.
  11. Nice work!!!! I have also see folks do a similar technique as yours, but after the silver coat, they dab here and there rubber cement or liquid mask, then paint the part its final color, when all dry they rub off the mask and you have chipped paint. I hope to try this at some point.
  12. MAN!!!! This thing gets me all tingly and "funny" feeling
  13. tourist, correct me if I am wrong, but were not the fuselage tanks just a rubber bladder, so likely were always blackish/rubberish color?
  14. :( :( :( So I am assuming a valid entry is one with documentation and photographic evidence of its existance?
  15. Eddie M.....you have mad skills!!!! Those are awesome!!!! CONGRATS on a great lesson and display where fantasy and accuracy live harmoniously...
  16. WOW!!! That is striking, I guess I have a thing for black and green. What is the green color by chance? Great build!
  17. HAHAHA.....I kinda walked right into that one Gregg....nicely played!!! Anymore cool paint jobs out there????
  18. Polished aluminum fuselage, with white wings, and black lettering...I believe.
  19. Nuthin says MUSCLE like a 200hp Ford Flathead..... B)
  20. I dare say, NEVER, NEVER in the history of mankind has there ever been the more perfect time for....... But Gregg, on a completely "unrelated" topic, can you please tell me if I have the "correct" spark plugs and engine color on my whiffy whiffer???
  21. LOL, thanks Mikkel. I have no idea how to do a wash, I have yet to venture into that area of modeling...but hope to at some point. And as far as a Latin American Stang, ABSOLUTELY!!!! Your Camo'd Bolivian "D" Bolivian P-51D Link is amazing, and would be a great addition to my growing collection. On a similar note, I to plan on procuring a 1/32 P-47 and doll up in the colors of El Esquadron 201 of Mexico, in honor of my Mexican heritage.
  22. Tiny update, not much done as I want to scratch build some of the structure in the tail gear well, and I am thinking there is something missing the the belly scoop exhaust area (a panel that goes from the top of the radiator aft to the aft end of the opening) so looking for "good" pics of those areas. And also getting together a game plan for the main spar and wheel well areas. Also at this point, I would gladly take some constructive criticism on anything that is worth changing at this point. Not sure on that color of the head rest for starters.
